This update brings two brand-new biomes along with several improvements and fixes.

PATCH 0.9.3

- New common upgrade tree (all guns).

- New upgrade tree for the freeze gun.

- Fixed an issue where KNIGHT'S TOUR wasn't applying the pierce upgrade to the Laser Gun.

- Visually adjusted fire effects (they are now behind enemies instead of in front of them). Hopefully this improves the on screen clarity with the SHRAPNEL upgrade. (Please provide any feedback on if this helps).

- Better randomization for upgrade trees. This should improve the variety and frequency of different upgrades appearing.

- Various bug fixes for other upgrades and minor tweaks / adjustments.

PATCH 0.9 - New upgrade tree. - Added option to reroll once per level up (cost 25 gold). - HARMONY upgrade (rotating gun) now shoots ammo for the gun you're currently using. - Pierce now applies to all guns. Some guns already pierce all enemies (Flamethrower, Chain Lightning, and Crossbow). - Fixed a crash related to max unlocks / gold. - Fixed an issue unlocking mods when collecting gold and quitting to menu. Fix should account for any other potential issues unlocking mods. - Fixed an issue causing the second rotating gun not to spawn. - Added finished art assets for wave mode level. - Fixed a crash involving the chain lightning gun / laser gun and the rotating gun upgrade. - Fixed a crash involving the healing from the "QUIET MOVE" upgrade. - Fixed spawning pawns potentially getting stuck in walls in wave mode. - Fixed an issue where the bullet bounce upgrade was applying the wrong knockback direction. - Fixed some text alignment issues. - Achievement for wins can now be earned in either quick play or normal. - Being hit when the shield upgrade is active no longer counts as being hit (related to "Cake" achievement). - Adjusted throw rate for grenade throwing pawn (throw less frequently). The grenades now also damage enemies. - Various other minor bug fixes.

Let me first say thank you to everyone who has supported and provided feedback. This patch has been in the works for far to long and I apologize for how long it has taken. Those that participated in the open playtest have seen most of what's in this patch. It's essentially the open playtest version with some bug fixes / tweaks and just polishing things up. PATCH v0.8.3 - 5 New enemy types added. - 4 New upgrade trees (16 total upgrades). - 1 New upgrade tree for each gun. - New gun mod system (replacing the old parts system) and several new mods to experiment with. - New wave based game mode. (WIP) - Various bug fixes / performance improvements. - Some graphical improvements (new color palette for entire game, shaders, etc.). - Added support for color blindness correction (Protanopia, Deuteranopia, and Tritanopia). - New pixel font by Poppy Works (more language support will be coming). Simplified Chinese is currently in the game. I will be working on the Steam page to properly implement Simplified Chinese as well as more languages. - New save system. GUN KING v0.8 - Open Playtest!

I am happy to announce the first ever open playtest of GUN KING! About the playtest: This is mainly to give people an opportunity to try out the game (currently the demo is a bit outdated) and also just to get feedback from players. The playtest will run from now till 31 May 2024. I will be doing my best to fix any bugs and make improvements throughout the playtest. NEW FEATURES - 5 New enemy types added. - 4 New upgrade trees (16 total upgrades). - 1 New upgrade tree for each weapon. - New gun mod system (replacing the old parts system) and several new mods to experiment with. - New wave based game mode. - Various bug fixes / performance improvements. - Some graphical improvements (new color palette for entire game, shaders, etc.). - Added support for color blindness correction (Protanopia, Deuteranopia, and Tritanopia). - New pixel font by Poppy Works (more language support will be coming). State of the Game

I wanted to do a post just to update everyone on the current state of the game and how things are progressing. Currently still working on the next major update (v0.9), which unfortunately I don't have an exact date as of now. At the bottom of this post I will include patch notes for what is currently done and what is planned. I've also been working simultaneously on console versions for Gun King. I don't have any official announcements yet, but likely will be officially announcing it as we approach v1.0 release. Just to be clear there is no patch yet unfortunately, but here is the work in progress patch notes. UPCOMING PATCH v0.9 DONE: - 5 New enemy types added. - 4 New upgrade trees (16 total upgrades). - 1 New upgrade tree for each weapon. - New wave based game mode. - New stage / background. - Various bug fixes. PLANNED / CURRENTLY WORKING ON: - Several upgrade trees. - 1 New upgrade tree for each weapon. - Boss enemy upgrade drops. - Several new weapons. - 13 new achievements (possibly more). - Testing and balancing. PATCH 0.6.1.3 Just want to say thank you again for all the support and providing feedback / bug reports. This patch should resolve all the current issues reported that caused a crash. Most of the issues were all related in some way and hopefully this should resolve all those issues. FIXES / CHANGES: - Fixed an issue that caused a crash with error "obj_hud: Cannot compare unset variables". - Fixed an issue where some hit from the chain lightning gun was displaying the incorrect color for non-crits. - Fixed several issues with crits displaying the incorrect color. - Fixed an issue where elemental damage from parts wasn't applying correctly to poison and burn damage. - Fixed an issue with input icons misaligned in parts and pause menu. - Fixed a few issues related to certain achievements potentially not unlocking.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up so you don't think that I've abandoned it or anything. Unless there is any game breaking bugs / crashes, which I will of course address immediately. As always thank you for all the support. BALANCE: - Added a cooldown to freeze (3 seconds for normal enemies, 6 seconds for boss enemies). FIXES / CHANGES: - Fixed an issue that caused certain guns to infinitely reload in combination with some parts.

PATCH 0.6.1 A small fix and quality of life change. There is definitely a lot more in the works. I would however like to reach out to the players to help prioritize which content I'm working on. I'd love to hear from you to see what you think I should focus on for the next patch. To make it more interesting I'll just propose one simple question. If you could only add one thing to the game, what would you add? FIXES / CHANGES: - Fixed an issue with parts system not correctly applying all stats when retrying. - Pause menu now shows the parts you are currently using. Now if choosing random you know which parts / stats you have.

PATCH version 0.6 is now live!

Took longer than expected, but here it is v0.6. Introducing the new parts system. There is now a parts menu before the start (after choosing your gun) where you can choose your brain, body, and base. Reload button has changed to INTERACT / RELOAD. So by default the reload button is now "E" or X on controller. Left trigger / right mouse button is now the button to use abilities. Several abilities were added including a dash, weapon throw, spawning pawns, and more. There is still a lot of ideas I have for improving the game (upgrades, enemies, guns, etc). I plan to continue to update the game and just try to make it the best game I can make. Thank you for your patience and support! Hopefully you enjoy the new parts system and I'd love to hear any feedback you have. CONTENT: New parts menu after choosing your gun and exiting the gun room. Here you can choose from three different parts, brain, body, and base. All have different attributes and will hopefully open up possibilities for even more builds to experiment with. BALANCE: - QUIET MOVE: Chance to heal has been reduced from 2% to 1% when picking up XP. - BACKWARD PAWN: Increased the the base damage given from 10 to 15. - GAMBIT: Reduced the damage and rate of fire from 50% to 40%. - BREAKTHROUGH: Reduced the rate of fire and reload speed from 10% to 6%. - Poison damage increased from 2 to 12. - Burn damage increased from 4 to 14. - Base damage for Burst Carbine reduced by 2. - Base damage for SMG increased by 1. FIXES / CHANGES: - Fixed an issue causing the game to crash when using proximity mines and there wasn't any enemies. - Fixed an issue when selecting the upgrade BACKWARD PAWN not applying the base damage to the pawn summon. - Critical hits are now shown in yellow and regular hits are in white (if the damage numbers are turned on). - Changed all weapons to automatic (no more click...click..click). I've seen numerous requests for this and while this was part of an upgrade. I think that upgrade was good enough on it's own with just the +50% magazine size.

PATCH 0.5.9.1 BALANCE: Balancing changes to the pawn with red outline: -Has a far less chance of spawning (roughly 10%) -bullet shoots in random direction towards the player -bullet is also a bit slower. FIXES: Fixed an issue causing a crash related to the gambit upgrade using flame turret and proximity mines. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Patch version 0.5.9 is now live!

PATCH 0.5.9 NEW CONTENT: Added a new pawn enemy type (red outline). When killed they spawn a projectile. FIXES: Fixed an issue causing a crash from explosions comparing unset values. Fixed blackhole upgrade not spawning correctly. It now spawns where the hits occur. I am currently working on a larger content patch, but I like to get any crash related fixes out ASAP. More content is coming, but it will take some time. Unfortunately I am only able to work on this part-time. I have a full-time job that supports the family and pays the bills. I just want to provide some context for anyone who wasn't aware or possibly wondering why things may be progressing slower then other games. Thank you to everyone for feedback and support.
