The Institute has been proclaimed an enemy of the state. Its research confiscated, institutions sacked, and agents assassinated. But it is also resourceful, given time it has recovered from worse.
A pity the apocalypse won’t be waiting.
You are the Director’s personal bodyguard. A deadly sorcerer with a brain so melted by cosmic forces that only a cursed helmet can keep it from leaking out. You haven’t done field work in the better part of a century, but a senior researcher in the sea town of Brein has convinced the Institute to send whoever they can.
Slaughter hordes of enemies in fast paced twin-stick shooter combat! Pull spells from your deck and exploit enemy weakness to generate enough energy to keep up the pace!
Cancel enemy attacks by interrupting them with their own elements, or overload your foes with arcane energies before detonating. Discard unwanted spells to heal, or equip new ones to pull in nearby powerups. Discard All Hope is easy to pick up and play, but offers plenty of mechanics to master.
Collect hundreds of different spells across 5 elemental types. Blast enemies at range with projectiles, cut through monsters with melee, summon eldritch familiars or protect yourself with defensive wards. Upgrade your favorites and find rare variants with random modifiers and even greater power.
Your spells double as stats too! Health, dash cooldown, magic regeneration, "ammo" reserves, and more can be improved just by holding them in your active deck… but be careful. The more magic of a given element you equip, the more susceptible you become to it. Insight into the unknown is a double-edged sword after all.

Scour every inch of the besieged sea town, Brein. Explore abandoned farms, once-bustling streets, dark woods, subterranean crypts, and much more. Discover the dark secrets hiding in the depths of this once unassuming place.
And when you are finished, delve into an endless labyrinth of ever-changing rooms in the ancient ruins lying deep under the earth!
Hello all!
This is likely to be the last major update to the Demo until release. To those of you that have recorded gameplay for me to review, thank you, these changes would not have been possible without your feedback!

[u]Major Updates:[/u]
[olist]Spell cards have a loot level, this can be seen in the bottom left corner of the card as a gold value. Damage incrementally improves with spell level. The primary goal of this is to push players to try new spells as they find them.
[olist]NOTE: Summon spells and Shield spells are currently not improved by loot level. This will change in the final release.
[/*][/olist][/*]Spell card modifiers are now better organized. You can no longer get 4 of the same modifier, or 4 modifiers that penalize attack damage. Modifiers are now organized into pools to improve spell variety.
[olist]NOTE: Spells can no longer roll with a modifier that buffs/debuffs the same element. For example, a blue spell cannot roll with a blue attack buff. This incentivizes multi-element decks.
[/*]A few new modifiers have been added as well, such as \"Hunger\" which drastically increases attack damage of the spell, but increases its special ammo cost by 1.
[/*][/olist][/*]Enemy spell indicators have gotten a visual upgrade. These now indicate the type of attack the enemy is doing (melee, projectile, shield, etc) and more clearly communicate how long an enemy will take to cast their spell. This gives you more information to decide whether to counter their spell, dodge it, or just move out of the way.
[/*][/olist][u]Minor Updates:[/u]
[olist]Player character has a run animation!
[/*]Gamepad issue when playing on a SteamDeck has been fixed.
[/*]Special ammo now has a radial indicator to convey how much ammo the play has left.
[/*]A log has been added that shows recently collected spell cards, their rarity, and their level.
[/*][/olist]As always, please provide feedback and let us know your general thoughts in the Steam discussion board, thank you!
