Game description

ShipCrafter is an upcoming naval sandbox combat simulator. Build you ship, unlock new parts, and defeat increasingly powerful foes !

Challenge adversaries in the campaign and liberate europe, or battle your own creations in the custom battle mode, and try to come up with the most efficient and original design.

Realtime physics

We want to make a game with accurate physics. As such we implemented a realtime buoyancy system based on weight and submerged volume. The ship density and center of mass is displayed in editor, allowing to fine tune your ship and even make submarines using ballasts !

Weaponery physics were particularly cared for as well, with fully simulated shell trajectories considering air pressure, changes in density through the atmosphere, and the influence of speed on shells drag value. Penetration calculations are calculated based on armor thickness, angle of incidence, bounce probability, and shell speed and mass.

Features

  • 1x1m sized blocks for the highest visual and physical accuracy.

  • Color mode in editor.

  • Realtime buoyancy simulation even considering ocean waves.

  • Various armor thicknesses and accurate penetration calculation based on speed, mass and angle of incidence.

  • Realistic ballistic trajectories even considering changes in the air pressure with altitude. Speeds and distances are however reduced to increase the nervosity of combats (in reality it would take more than a minute to hit a target at 20km).

  • Adjustable ballasts for submarine designs.

  • Physics based damages instead of healthbars. Turrets and engines will also lose performance if hit.

  • Weather system and day cycles, including changes in ocean waves amplitude and rain.

  • Campaign with more than 50 missions.

  • More than 20 different ships to defeat.

  • Custom battle editor, including weather, time of day selection, and bots vs bots naval battles.

  • Manual and automatic control mode for weaponery.

  • Realtime fluid simulation (experimental).

  • Visit your ship in first person view.

  • Steam Workshop supported.

New light machine guns, rebalances and optimisation

The demo received a large update today. It contains many new guns, some rework of existing ones, physics updates, optimisation, and much much more ! A native linux build is also available as well now !

Small caliber guns, search lights, items organisation... here's what's new !

Hello !

There were a few additions made to ShipCrafter in prevision of the full release of the game. Mainly bug fixes and gameplay improvements, but also a few neat features !

In particular we got a bunch of new small caliber guns. This is in prevision of a futur anti-air gameplay of course !

We also got a search light turret, usefull for night time battles. It also makes them quite nice in spectator mode.

Here are the latest news in ShipCrafter

Hello !

Bots can now chase submarines if they are equipped with depth charges.

Ship loading times were greatly reduced in battle and editor. Up to 6 times faster for very large ships.

You can now load a pre-built hull from a small selection to quickly make you ship by only focusing on superstructure and weaponery design !

Improved a few visual effects.

ShipCrafter now has various bot behaviours

Hello,

A new update has made its way in ShipCrafter. This time in particular we have different bot behaviours. You can choose how your ship should react when controlled by a bot between going broadside, trying to reach a target, align and torpedo targets like a submarine, or try to flee.

Bigger waves to play with were also requested, so now a new weather can be selected in custom battle with enormous waves !

It's been a month since last update, and many new things got in ShipCrafter

Hello !

Yes it has already been a month without a community post, but rest assured the game kept being updated in the meantime.

In particular we now have fully configurable custom missions. It is now possible to select allied bots, the time of day, the weather, and even to view bot vs bot battles in spectator mode. Also bots are now able to use torpedos as well, making battle more diverse and challenging.

A mirror mode was added to the build scene as well, making ship building twice as fast.

Cosmetics can now be stretched and shifted to allow more variations in your build.

ShipCrafter demo is now live !

Hello everyone !

The first demo version of ShipCrafter is now live. As this is our first build, the game is not fully fleshed out yet, but you can already build ships and fight the first few missions of the campaign, and use the custom battle editor.
