After Dashpong, Hyperslice and many action oriented jam games, I wanted to work on something more chill. I've been thinking about creating a word game for a while, and I'm super happy to explore a new direction with Lexispell. The goal is to make a small and cozy word game that can also be challenging for avid gamers.
I'm making this alone, with help from Trevron for the music, so don't hesitate to share and wishlist Lexispell!

The first public playtest is now closed, and I want to thank everyone who played, it was awesome! I got a lot of good feedback and there\'s still more I need to go through.

Some numbers
More than 650 people got access to the playtest (which is more than I anticipated) and the median playtime has been around 35 minutes throughout the entire playtest. I think it\'s quite high and another indication that you enjoy the game.

Some of you (31 to be precise) played more than 200 mins, that\'s crazy!
I have way more data to look at as I was collecting stuff through the Steam stats, but I didn\'t compute them yet. I\'ll let you know when I have more insights.
What\'s next?
I have a ton of stuff to implement and new features I want to add to the game before I push a public demo. I\'m also working on my other game Hyperslice, trying to release it in January. I can\'t make any promise yet, but I definitely want to run another small playtest before the public demo, so it\'s probably going to be around early/mid January if I can make it.

Thanks again for all the feedback you left so far. I\'ve been amazed by the response to the game, and I\'m truly grateful for your help!
I wanted to push a little update before the end of the playtest. You can read the patch note below, there are some interesting changes. This update is lighter has I\'m working a lot on my other game Hyperslice to prepare for release.
The playtest will run until Monday, December 22, so give it a go if you didn\'t have time already!
What\'s next?
I\'m closing the playtest to fix the bugs and improve the game, and I hope to run another small playtest towards the end of the year/beginning of 2026 before I publish the demo.
I\'m also going to gather the data en make a small \"post-mortem\" about this playtest, I\'ll share it here too.

First, thanks for all the feedback you submitted already. There\'s a lot of valuable stuff in there, and it really motivates me to continue working on Lexispell to make it better. I\'m incredibly pleased to see many of you are enjoying the game and that it seems to be pretty stable overall.
If you have played already, don\'t hesitate to try this new version, as I fixed a bunch of issues and added some cool things (read more below).
More seats!
I\'m writing this to announce I\'m opening way more seats (more than 300!) in the playtest. If you were waiting to try the game, now is the time! Of course, you can still send invites to your friends if they want to try but didn\'t get selected yet.
New stuff
I\'ve made a lot of fixes, modifications and additions. You can read the full list below.
The biggest problem that still occurs is letters getting stuck in the air after some complicated merges. When a lot of merges are happening, it can also mess with the letters you already have selected. If a word is not recognized, don\'t hesitate to clear the word and try again in case some merges caused a bug.
One of the coolest new feature is the ability to submit words to be included in the dictionary! In the pause menu, you simply entered the word you want, select the language and hit submit! I\'ll review the suggestions at the end of the playtest so don\'t hesitate to submit anything you think should be included!

Hey everyone, Im super proud to announce my next solo project,Lexispell! It's a cozy roguelike word game with a physics twist. You merge letters, pick cool upgrades and spell long words.
[p align="start"]The main loop is you going through levels where you need to score enough points to continue. In between you visit the shop where you can buy upgrades (like Balatro jokers) and consumables (energy, reveal a word, transform letters, etc..).[/p][p align="start"]I'm also working on different mode for different players, as I want to make something approachable and challenging for more "hardcore" gamers. So if you don't like roguelikes, don't worry, there will probably be something for you too![/p]
With this game, I wanted to try something different, more chill and cozy, less action oriented. I want the game to feel approachable but still be challenging. Hopefully you'll like it!
I'm going to run a public playtest in the coming weeks, and you can already register right there on the game page. I need your help to ensure the game is fun and balanced, so don't hesitate to join.
After that, the next big step will be a public demo, probably towards the end of the year. I'll keep you posted here, but you can also follow on socials
