X-Soundtracks now available on Steam

Attention music fans! As you may have seen, Steam has recently redesigned and improved its system for selling and listening to game soundtracks. Soundtracks can now be viewed, downloaded and played directly in the Steam Library.

In the context of these changes we were also active: From now on many soundtracks for different X games of the past years are available individually on Steam.

To celebrate the new features, Steam is also currently hosting a big soundtrack sale, in which we are also participating. Take advantage of the strong discounts and immerse yourself in the soundworlds of Alexei Zakharov, which have been delighting X players for years.

All soundtracks include the lossless FLAC format in addition to the conventional MP3 files. In the Steam client's music settings, look for the option "Download high-quality audio files".

If you own the Collector's Editions of X Rebirth and X4: Foundations, you can now view the included soundtracks directly in the Steam library. However, due to the new product structure on Steam, you have to download them again.

X Rebirth 4.10 Update Released


This update brings you a number of improvements that didn't quite make it into 4.00, and a few fixes for things that did. In particular we've improved capital ship movement and general AI flight behaviour in specific situations, and made some UI tweaks including adding ammunition information to the detail menus for ships and stations.

As usual, we've also improved performance here and there and squashed some crash bugs. Some of the improvements we've been able to make have come as a side-effect of our efforts on the VR Edition that we're working on, and we're expecting more to come from that in the future.

The full changelog is quite extensive, and well worth taking a look through:

• Added ammunition display to detail menus of ships and stations.
• Improved font readability in certain cases.
• Improved crosshair visual quality.
• Improved slider bar behaviour for large range values.
• Improved positioning of minigame display to try to avoid obstructing other elements.

We are pleased to announce yet another free update to X Rebirth, along with a new DLC called Home of Light which is available to buy now.

Key new features of 4.0 include:

Bulletin board system to keep track of offered missions.
Major overhaul of external view (enabled menus, target elements, external view in highways, and more).
Orders for multiple selected ships in the Property Owned menu (replaces 'Broadcast' order).
Trade Deals menu with profit estimates.
Economy logging and statistics.
Time acceleration using SETA.
New mission to obtain player ship jump drive.
New missions to hack stations and obtain rare or valuable items.
You can now find and craft rare weapon modifications that increase your weapon's stats when installed.
New in-game tutorials.
OS X and Linux versions now join Windows on full release.

The Home of Light DLC is the second expansion for X Rebirth and establishes the access to three new star systems, including the well-known Home of Light, home of the powerful TerraCorp.

Since the latest Steam client update, the mouse cursor could get "stuck" in certain situations. We have issued a hotfix to solve this problem in X Rebirth while the Steam developers investigate the underlying cause.

Our newest update for X Rebirth, 3.60, is now available to everyone! It includes several handy improvements and the usual array of fixes, as well as an experimental new flight mode that we'd like everyone's feedback on.

X Rebirth Update 3.52 Released

X Rebirth 3.52 is now available.

• Fixed default NPCs being able to board the playership and getting stuck.
• Fixed being able to get more than five skill stars through employee training before skills are revealed.
• Fixed ship animation issues when leaving the area and returning later.
• Fixed some Russian localisation issues.
• Fixed a problem loading plot savegames made in versions created prior to 3.51 while player ship docked.

Note: Although the last fix listed above does restore Yisha if she was accidentally removed in 3.51, we recommend that you do not use savegames made in 3.51 which suffered this problem as you may encounter problems such as stuck plot missions. Savegames made in 3.50 which would have suffered this problem had they been loaded in 3.51 should be be fine in 3.52.

X Rebirth 3.50 is here!

Our latest update for X: Rebirth is now available. New features include:

• New generic missions and new upkeep missions for easier station management.
• New ships: The new Onil mining ships available in the Canteran shipyard in DeVries.
• New "Container Magnet" which helps to attract nearby collectables to the player ship.
• Easier navigation through text search field in map.
• New FXAA graphics option.

And among the many other improvements in 3.50 are:

• Improved station manager and station owned ship trade behavior.

In our final release for 2014, the 3.10 update fixes a few issues that have been reported in 3.00. Happy holidays!

X Rebirth 3.0 and The Teladi Outpost DLC are here!

Egosoft is delighted to announce the release of the X Rebirth 3.0 update along with a new DLC, The Teladi Outpost. The DLC is available free to players who download it before 15th December.

64-bit:
