





Hi everyone! Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of Junk Jack release on Steam platform, so we decided that, although unfinished (it's really a lot harder than thought), we're going to give everyone access to an unlocked branch of the game which allows original game data to be modified, and preliminary mods to be added. Since this build is totally unsafe and wrong modifications to game data could break your saves please take care to backup your worlds and players before experimenting with it! You will have access to two specific features;
Original JSON
Modifying original json game data directly contained in game folder, which are located in YourSteamLibraryFolder/SteamApps/common/Junk Jack/data/json folder. You will see a bunch of text files which can be modified to affect how the world is generated, what drops and when, mobs and such. Mind that custom.json is still hardcoded into the game so modifications won't be reflected.
Mods
This are standalone json files (with accessory graphics) which can be put into %appdata%/Junk Jack/mods and are loaded at game launch (they can't be enabled or disabled after game launch and you must reopen the game if you change anything). These mods can alter the game data through hooks, so new items can be added, loot tables can be changed and such. This is the only way to allow new graphics without altering original textures. Fully documentation of the allowed mods is not present but there are some samples here: Modding Api. Feel free to experiment!

Hi everyone! In the last months we've been working hard to port the game to Nintendo Switch by improving a lot of small user experience issues. At the same time a lot of small untracked and unnoticed issues have been fixed. All these cumulative fixes are all bundled in the 3.3 version which is available on the beta branch of the game, the password to access it is "hellototheworld"! This version is fixing loot table issuer for uber bosses, some unrecognized GPU cards which didn't work with the game, A LOT of crashes (especially when playing with controller). There is also a hidden modding infrastructure that will be expanded in the future to finally allow user mods! IMPORTANT: This beta version shouls restore compatibility with Windows 7 by using a different version of xinput library, which was giving issues to many users. Please let us know if that's the case! If the beta version doesn't have particular issues it will be rolled out on main branch shortly :) Happy mining!

Hello everyone! We're glad to tell you that controller support has finally been implemented into Junk Jack! Support is for Xinput controllers on Windows and it covers everything in the game, from start menu to any dialog or UI element (excluding text input)! Since the game has really many different views and subviews, it's possible that some things are still missing, please feel free to report issues in our forum or on Discord! Many choices has been made to keep controller gameplay as smooth as possible, you could like or dislike some but meny things can be tweaked in Options->Controls to suit your needs! If you want to provide some feedback or ideas about improving controls just let us know, this is just a preliminary implementation which could be tweaked at any time! CHANGELOG

Hello everyone! Sorry for the prolonged silence but we're undergoing some internal rearrangement so we took it long! This is a bugfix/QoL update which fixes a lot of bugs, balances the gameplay experience, improves things here and there and prepares some ground for future changes, here is the full changelog:
- Chest Interface now is twice as big for better organization
- Health regen from equip now triggers after 5 second without taking damage from monsters
- Implemented item sets bonuses : this features allows to give specific bonuses(and effects) when a specific set of items is equipped
- Created a set for each Uber boss equip drop, now the single equip pieces give less light value, equipping the full set gives the full light value
- Added tooltip symbols reference(accessed by Help pane, F1, then F2)
- Added light value to tooltips of armor pieces
- Added tooltips to some unclear potions
- Some mobs are now able to see through player invisibility
- Thorns damage on monsters is now mitigated by their defense
- Thorns related potions have been buffed
- Adjusted some thorns bonuses from equip
- Fixed critical chance of weapons which wasnt working(all had 0 % critical)
- Fixed bug which wasnt updating collections when equipping items or pets
- Fixed bug which didnt consume proper amount of items when using simple craft

Welcome to Junk Jack 3.2 Pet Hunt Update!
This patch adds 75 fancy rare pocket pets in all worlds which can be captured, hunt ‘em all! We’ve also added the Junk Machine, used to recycle your crafts and get new items and rare loot. Plus there are now new breedable chihuahua and hamster pets, many new features and cool items to discover, an habanero plant used to craft habanero bombs and soup, craftable concussion bombs and new rare cards used to craft pocket uber mob pets are included too. Plus many more cool things to discover and small tweaks!

To celebrate we're discounting Junk Jack and releasing a themed update which makes Terra Christmas themed with presents all over the surface which contain unique loot! Capture and breed the new reindeers, fight Christmas themed zombies and skeletons and find the new Pocket Santa pet!
We also added rare fossils on all planets which can be combined to form unique creations by assembling their pieces!

We have also improved combat hit detection, added new treasures such as weapons, pocket pets, new essence swords and revamped trinkets! Worlds are more varied now with new rare biomes with chests and everything has also been fine tuned once again.
You will also find Totem pieces in all the planets which can be assembled to form a huge totem tower! Many other features and fixes have been added too. Check out the changelog below!

Here’s a sneak peek of what we’re working on: Uber Mobs!
Each planet will feature a unique Uber Mob which can be summoned by destroying its altair.
These mobs are harder to kill and will drop unique rewards such as equip pieces, weapons, tools, rare materials and unique pets.
We’re also working on totems! You will be able to collect cool looking totem pieces from each planets and assemble them as a trophy for your adventures.
The upcoming update will also feature new ground biomes from the nearest planets, new collectable pets, some loot/ores rebalance and other tweaks!

Hello! Today we're releasing a big content patch which adds more than 250 treasures to be discovered, we call it the treasure hunt season! We also added a new end game planet named Tor which can be reached from Mykon, with lots of new monsters, equip pieces, treasures and blocks.
Planets have been tweaked and should be more varied and fun to explore, we redrawn a lot of mobs and made many balance tweaks and bug fixes.
We're quite satisfied with the progress made to the game and we think the game is mature enough to be released in full form on Steam, so please let us know what you think of this patch!
After the release we'll continue with the updates, to improve Junk Jack even more.

Hello everyone! Today we're releasing a new patch which includes Linus/SteamOS support! This version is still experimental, so if you are using this os please report any bug you find. We also added new actuator blocks! Pistons, advanced pressure pads and retractable blocks combined with wiring will let you create complex machines which interact with the world. Hello miners, it's patch day! This version adds new procedural mobs, a scalable viewport option, new potions, new spear and bow mechanics, treasures drop rate tweaks and many more features and fixes. The new spear weapons mechanic is experimental and the whole spear graphical approach will be tweaked in the future, we're thinking about increasing their length to make them able to reach more distant positions while making them less effective for short range combat. The new procedural mob generation is experimental too, we tested it with slimes to understand the potentiality of generating different flavour of mobs by composing parts, we'll extend this feature whenever possible to other creatures if it satisfies us and especially you! The Linux version is under heavy development and we're in a good state so hopefully we'll soon release it! Have fun playing! ENHANCEMENTS

Hello everyone! Here is a small fix update that addresses mainly two issues with multiplayer. Now it should be more stable but it's still experimental so if it doesn't work just try restarting the game! We're working hard to improve it! We're testing a new audio engine so there could be some slight bugs right now, but this is to allow more customization of sounds in the future. Have fun playing! BUG FIXES
- Fixed a multiplayer bug which made clients entering empty worlds or never entering with black screens
- Fixed a multiplayer bug which made hosts or client crash when joining
- Fixed a fruit generation bug which didn't work properly and generated corrupted saves
- Fixed a crash that occurred when loading a map with corrupted fruits, so that the map now loads properly
- Fixed Steam cloud, now it should correctly works
- Fixed (we hope finally!) the music crash caused by the faulty OGG driver that some players had installed

- Reduced mobs minimum light required to spawn (now mobs should spawn less frequently in well lit areas)
- Added an option to choose between placing top block first or rear block first (both are modifiable through CTRL)
- Some options are now available directly from pause menu without the need to exit the game
- Ladders now allow attachment from a slightly larger distance: you can't fall in a hole 1 block wide with ladders anymore inside anymore
- It is now allowed to place plants on tiles with small props without breaking them first
- Added special utility loot crates in worlds caves
- Placing a solid block over a pet will now make it warp to the owner

Hello! We've pushed a quick update to the game which addresses mostly usability fixes gathered by your feedback and tries to solve the multiplayer bug which was rather common! - Improved Steam multiplayer handshaking to prevent connections error while connecting (it’s still experimental so if it doesn’t work just try relaunching the game)
- Fixed a bug which applied falling damage incorrectly when dropping from ladders
- Fixed music volume issue on startup
- Hopefully fixed crash related to music at startup
- Fixed an issue which prevented non extended tooltips from being visible
- Added experimental placement directly from inventory (with right click)
- Added CTRL + left mouse click to inventory to quickly move to/from quickslot
- Added hold to jump higher which should make movement more comfortable
- Now default block placement actions occurs on top layer, you can place blocks on rear layer with CTRL + left mouse click
