We've been working hard for this entire week on the demo version and on some game improvements. Here they are:
People's Patrol route: direction improved, sprites added, animated doors added.
Red Dress route: improved the scene, where we can chose a person to talk to. It should play smoother now.
Main story, chapter 1: direction improved.
Main story, chapter 2: cut off some unnecessary dialogs to improve ingame dynamics.
Sounds: main menu sound design finished. We are also trying to reevaluate our approach to sound design of the game in order to make the process more streamlined.

Update 4 is here!



In this update we bring you the first chapter of the new "Red Dress" route! The route describes the highborn and their strange, diverse world and continues the story of one of the most popular characters from The Last Day of Decade - Kael Domian. The route will continue in the future updates, once the new locations are polished up for the release.

Speaking about the locations, we are working on a huge hangar which will link the underground tunnels to the garden. All of the dialogues for the next few chapters are complete, as well as the 3D models for the new locations. The texture work is 60% finished, and once it is done, we will continue drawing characters and assembling new story fragments for you to enjoy!

The new update will improve the game significantly. We are adding a loading screen to improve the overall performance of the game, fixing the lighting in the location with the consoles and upgrading the game sound.

We decided not to upload a new content this week. This decision was made because of your reviews. It also led us to an important conclusion: we'll spend more time on the main story updates and postpone all "dungeon-like" content.

So, what comes with a fresh update? This is a total improvement of all sides of the game. We also made some preparations to make game ready to release a new main story update next week. Moreover, we checked out your comments and letsplays/walkthroughs so we got an idea for a new route which will be also released soon.

Story map and overall progress
We remade the story map, now it comes with helpful tips and some visual improvements. Even now you can see how the main story plot divides into the two chapters: 4A and 4B. This branching brings some really significant changes into the story, and we hope it will make you happy (especially ones who played The Last Day Of The Decade).

We also pointed a new route on a story map. "How does it feel — to die by the Decade" — this is not a question anymore. Somebody may think that everything ends with the death of the protagonist but this is wrong: we plan to make this route really long.

Shooting part and controls
Now the gunfight became more dangerous and interesting. We also made some improvements to make it easier to play the Cargo on notebooks and MacBooks. Now left Alt (and Command for Mac users) works as the right mouse button.

Music and sounds
The new update brings a lot of improvements in sound and sound direction. It has become more complex that's why it takes a lot of time to make it work right. We've fixed a lot of sound bugs and now added the most part of sound, ambient, and music.

Other improvements:


  • The "Forty-niner" achievement now works,
  • Mech interface information disappearance corrected,
  • Achievements are displayed correctly at the story map,
  • Bug with terminal code fixed,
  • A problem with pressing ESC during the interactive objects connection is fixed,
  • Settings save now works correctly,
  • "To be continued" screen is improved,
  • Door holographic interface text is fixed,
  • The dialog with Monica and Zvi after the train is gone is fixed: we've removed some things controverting with game setting.

Leviathan: The Cargo — Ongoing Series



We have always wanted Leviathan: The Cargo to be an ongoing game series. We've cried about that on every corner, yet it was still missed by some Leviathan players. It has always been our deliberate decision, to make Leviathan: The Cargo a series story that unfolds in front of your eyes and you are the part of it.

"Just three short chapters for $10?!"

Nope. Not "just three short chapters", but a piece of a big novel that gets bigger with each update. That's why we are going to release weekly updates with new content.

Week one — a dungeon entrance opens.
Week two — a route appears.
Week three — the main story continues and goes on.

We'll stay with all of you during all this time, taking part in discussions, streaming on twitch and being a part of the whole community around our game.

Once more: this is our deliberate decision.

Leviathan: The Cargo Achievements


We at Lostwood love to receive cool achievements while playing games. Ever since we started working on The Cargo, we've been constantly thinking about how to make the achievements really interesting. And you know what? We found a way!

A short disclaimer: the achievements won't be present in the first release, because we need some more time to implement them. They will appear in one of the next updates.

There will be three types of achievements:

1. Common
Players will receive them for completing chapters and some key game sequences. Their purpose is to display a player's progress, and by the end of the game you will have them all.

2. Uncommon
They will require some effort: only the player who explore Leviathan: the Cargo well enough will receive them. Players can receive these achievements for completing optional challenges, for finding secrets placed throughout the game and for using alternate ways to play through various game sequences.

3. Rare
Brace yourself for a real challenge! They will be hidden until you get them, and we will keep the requirements for getting these under a complete lockdown. They are the Holy Grail of the achievements, and getting them is one tough job (but we believe in you!).

Surprise!
And here's a small bonus for those of you who've stayed with us through the whole post: after we're done with the achievements, we are going to release an update that will allow you to easily switch between story routes and its chapters, and, yes, you got it right, it will allow you to easily get the achievements that you've missed at first. How is it going to look like? You'll see soon: we're gonna keep you posted.
