Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown has been released today on Steam for PC VR, which also includes a non-VR mode for players who want to play the game without VR hardware. Previously released for PlayStation VR in 2019, Table of Tales is a true digital tabletop RPG, with the player taking their place at a magical table and controlling a party of scoundrels as they venture through a world of swashbuckling and sorcery.
No tabletop RPG adventure would be complete without a Game Master, thus the magical Table of Tales is presided over by Arbitrix, a mechanical talking bird brought to life by SOVAS Voice Arts award-winning Julie-Ann Dean. Arbitrix is your guide and companion, tasked with narrating your story and pushing the scoundrels into sticky situations they'll need to talk, or fight, their way out of.
Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown is a true Australian collaboration. Tin Man Games originally worked with Screencheat developers, Samurai Punk, to create the PlayStation version. More recently TMG joined forces with Zero One to port the VR game to new platforms. Neil Rennison, Creative Director for Tin Man Games, said: Its been an honour to work with so many great Australian developers on this game over the years. Id like to think this is only the beginning of the Table of Tales journey!
As well as featuring an intriguing, branching narrative that boasts multiple endings, Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown is an experience that needs to be seen and played to truly appreciate the magic. The virtual table is the star of the show, shifting and changing to present players with new grid-based playing environments set in towns, temples, jungles and even on sailing ships that ride across tumultuous seas, all created within the table itself.
Table of Tales is now available to buy on Steam for $24.99 USD with a 10% launch discount. The game can be played on PC, with or without a VR headset, and only needs to be purchased once.
