Jingle, jingle
Do you hear this lovely sound, Monarchs?
Its the delicate chime of the winter bells - which indicates that today is the first day of December! But, as the old legend goes, no December is merely a month in our beautiful Kingdom
Noble Monarchs, prepare thine hearts, we invite you for this grand commencing - an event of unparalleled magnificence that shall usher in the season with merriment fit for royalty!
And the name of that event is
The gates swing wide open to reveal this figure-of-speech winter wonderland! All of Raw Fury games and the team behind them come together to celebrate each other and, as the Kingdom team, we would like to share some of our fireplace stories about personal experiences with creating Kingdom
The most fantastic part of this month-long event is that its only the beginning! Expect more news, collaborations, streams, giveaways and exciting activities, some of which coming up as soon as later today
Join us around a cozy fireplace - its story time with the devs
Immerse thyself in stories that transcend time, weaving a tapestry of magic and adventure. Let the written word be a lantern guiding you through the labyrinth of imagination.
Before all character sprites were done, we would put cats in the game as placeholders! My other favorite is the randomly rotating stuff... like when the mule just decides it walks on its face. Alan, Game Designer
My fav bug is the one where you can get a duplicate dog. Two dogs. Thats a not-a-bug-its-a-feature bug, if I ever saw one. Angelica, Experience Producer
Three winters ago, I joined the Kingdom team and one of the first things I got to do was play Kingdom Two Crowns in co-op together with Gordon Van Dyke. He taught me a Kingdom hack I never would have figured out on my own - if you upgrade your castle several levels fast, you get your first walls and wall upgrades for free! It was a privilege to learn from the best. Elisabeth, Producer
I think my favorite bug has to be in Shogun when you chop down a tree a ninja was hiding behind, he wouldn't mind and just stood there hiding in plain sightBut being so well-trained, he pulled it off, and the Greed would walk right past him anyway. P.S. I'm not even sure anymore, if we fixed this or not, I think we did. Danijel, Developer
When I joined the Kingdom team as a QA I was told to just play the game for the first couple of weeks to learn it. This liberty allowed me to figure out one of the known, but unreproducible issues. That was my first ticket in Jira and remains one of my favorite bugs to this day. It was this peasant who moved like they were waterskiing. I called it "a slider". It was challenging to reproduce and it took me about a week of playtesting to figure it out. Eventually, I exposed it! The issue would happen when a floater would pick up a peasant and then when archers would kill the floater, the peasant would drop and remain frozen in this animation, sliding their way until they would pick up a tool and become an employed citizen."Kristina, QA Manager
Now with the Christmas season coming and the snow already laying on the streets, I cant help but imagine what it would be like to just hang out with my colleagues in Christmas jumpers, have some hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies, then altogether gather in the Gaming Room, and just play the Two Crowns co-op with one another Driver, Senior Community Manager
My favourite thing is playing the Christmas Event in Kingdom New Lands. No matter how many times I play it, it still makes me so happy to get to prance around on a reindeer and drop presents. I absolutely love Christmas and this never fails to get me in the festive mood. The thing I recently discovered is that, if presents drop near the Greed, they'll take those in place of a coin and it's actually so cute seeing a little Greed holding a present. Kingdom: New Lands - Skull Island
Kingdom: New Lands builds upon the award-winning gameplay and mystery of Kingdom by introducing an abundance of new content to the IGF-nominated title while maintaining the simplicity and depth that legions of monarchs have come to experience and enjoy. Travel to the New Lands and welcome the deluge of new mounts, merchants, and vagrants that call these isles home, but be wary of the new obstacles that threaten your arrival -- for not just the greedy creatures block your way but even the environment itself can defeat you.
Be brave, ruler, and fight to the bitter end, lest these New Lands conquer you instead.
