v0.301 Update For Sparkour Alpha Demo

Changelog for Sparkour Alpha Demo v0.301

Sparkour Alpha Demo v0.301 is live! This is a quick hotfix to fix some major and minor issues people have had over the last couple hours.

Changelog:

- Fixed a bug that would softlock players while trying to join a game in progress. - In addition, servers are now hidden from the server list if they are in progress. Hopefully this decreases the amount of un-enterable games. - When clicking "Start Game" on the main menu, you now have a choice between a local game or an online game - Added a unique default name to every newly created lobby (based off your name, i.e. "caseytube's Game"). This is to help with confusion when multiple games have the same name. - Fixed a bug causing players to fall forever in the main level. - Adjusted the sound effects on the menu. - Various other fixes/touchups. Thanks for supporting us. We hope you continue to enjoy the demo with your friends! Casey. Follow caseytube on Twitter! Follow sparkourgame on Twitter!

Update #0.3: The Alpha Demo is here!

Hey everyone! Casey here, to talk to you about our brand spanking new demo!
Howdy everyone! I've just got a quick update for y'all that the Sparkour Alpha Demo is now out for everyone to enjoy! If you didn't know, this little snippit is meant to give you a little taste of the game, as well as a way for us to gather feedback and find out what we can do to make the final game better.
To play, just hop on our Steam page and click "Download PC Demo!"

So What Can We Do?

The demo features one level and a limited selection of character customization options. Other than that, the full game is in there for you to enjoy with your friends! You can play in singleplayer, or local and online multiplayer! You also have controller support (though the menu navigation with controllers is spotty at best, so I'd recommend having a mouse around for that stuff.)

Tell Us What You Think!

One important thing we ask you to do is leave us feedback for the game! Like we've said previously, the feedback helps us develop the game further and helps us make it into something appealing in the future that you'd actually want to pay money for. Also, clicking on the link will lead you to a place where you can also leave a bug report.
When in the game, you can click here to leave feedback on the game.

Thanks for Playing.

Overall, we can't wait for you to enjoy this little sneak peak at Sparkour. Please let us know what you think. If you experience any issues, please let us know! A hotfix will be coming soon for any immediate issues, and we will continue to support the demo up until the final release of Sparkour this year! Thanks for your support, Casey. Follow caseytube on Twitter! Follow sparkourgame on Twitter!

Update #0.2: Run. With Style!

Howdy howdy everyone! This is Casey again, giving you this month's update on Sparkour!
For the past month, we've been working on getting the demo ready for release. This meant a lot of polishing and not a lot of new content. But never fear, we're still on track for our release later this year! Let's talk a little bit about the demo and what we've been doing to prepare for it:

Don't Worry, You'll Be Running Around Soon...

First of all, a lot of you have been wondering a lot about our announcement of our new demo! Mostly, when its coming out. I would like to personally say thank you to those who are waiting patiently, and we'd just like to say that we're still on track with releasing it Soon. We're still plugging away, but a minor game-breaking bug had set us back for a bit. Weve since patched that out, so once we get the finishing touches on the demo, well be releasing it here on Steam! Stay tuned right here for more info on that announcement.
The Final(ish) Main Menu! We'd also like to take this time to clarify what youll be able to do in the demo. The demo will be more or less an alpha "stress-test." The game represented in the demo is still nowhere near final, and it will offer one level to play on, with all of the current item types. It will be a jumping off point for us, as weve never truly gotten the game in its current state into the hands of our incredibly diverse community, so were hoping youll help us out in developing a game you want to play by leaving us feedback! Well have a feedback form available for you if you want to help us find whats good, and whats bad about Sparkour. Well also offer a bug report form through this same system.
To access our feedback form, simply click the feedback button on the main menu and it'll open Google Forms in your browser.

Let's Get Stylish

Now, I would like to address some features that I think havent given the light of day enough. One thing in particular I think a lot of you will enjoy is the Customizer.
A quick peek at the Customizer's UI! The Customizer is a fancy way of saying Character Creator. What I set out to do with Sparkour was to accommodate every player and make them feel at home in Sparkour. From a growing options list to a slew of controllers supported, I want to make sure everyone feels like they fit in. And with the Customizer, you can express your own sense of style. Were going to offer different types of clothes to wear, from colorful scarves to wonderful wigs, throughout the updates well bring in more accessories, hair-doos, and t-shirts for you and your friends to enjoy! Not only will you be able to modify clothes, but well also allow you to customize your characters proportions and body form, which can actually have an affect on gameplay. So thinner, lighter characters will have more speed and agility, but bigger characters have the ability to steamroll people off ledges. This feature is still in development, and may not be available during the demo or at launch.
A preview of a hairstyle you'll get to choose from in the final game. Speaking of the demo, we will have a limited selection of clothes and accessories, and some control over your characters body, but not a whole lot; We're still finishing stuff up over here, so keep with us for updates in the future.

Looking To The Future

For right now, thats all weve got to show off. I know this was a pretty short update, but next update, I think we'll be able to show off some of the awesome levels you'll get to play in the final game! Well continue updating you folks via Twitter, so go ahead and follow us there! Like I said, once the demo is finalized and everything is in place, you will all get your first chance to play Sparkour, and help us finish the game. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more! Love you all, Casey. Follow caseytube on Twitter! Follow sparkourgame on Twitter!

Update #0.1: 2017 - The Year of Running Quickly

Howdy Everyone! This is Casey, the main developer of Sparkour.
Its been a long minute since the last time Ive gotten to talk to you all. Too long, in fact. Ive been very reluctant to give some specific details about whats going on, and Ive also been quiet on the social media front. However, I think that the New Year is a perfect time to divulge more of what Sparkour really is, and what 2017 has in store for us all!

The Sweet Details

First of all, lets talk about the game: what it is exactly and what you will be able to do in it's final rendition! I'm sure youve all read our Steam descriptions, but let me get into detail. Sparkour is a racing game where you race up to 4 of your friends, either online or locally, and use sweet parkour moves (such as wall running and vaulting) to navigate the courses. As you perform these stunts, you will be rewarded by gaining speed, and those rewards stack, so it's always suggested to be as cool as possible for as long as you can!
In addition to this, you have access to a multitude of randomly grabbed items that can help you on your way, whether it be a weapon against your enemy or a special ability to outrun them with. In a later update, we'll give you more information on what kind of items you will get and how many courses we are planning on having at release. With all of this, were planning on releasing this year, in 2017. I cant say exactly when yet, as our turbulent development cycle means that deadlines get pushed back and dates go up in the air. Rather than waste your time with those setbacks, I will instead abstain until I'm sure we can get it out on a particular date. Rest assured, I will let you all know as soon as Im comfortable with a date.

Going Into The Year...

Now, lets talk about whats going to happen within the next couple of months. First, I will be more active in discussing what's going on behind the scenes. If you want minute to minute updates on Sparkour, you can follow us on Twitter. On @caseytube, you will find some stream of conscious updates for the game (and lots of jokes and junk, beware!) My promise to you all is to stay active there with little updates on what's going on, and other tidbits of information. The more important posts will be made or retweeted on @sparkourgame.
I know you may be a bit anxious for Sparkour, so Ill make this simple. Were releasing a demo! The demo will be released before the final release date, and it will include one level for you and your friends to run around in. It will also act as a way for us to receive some great feedback on the game, so you can help us round out some bugs and shape it into the game you want to! We hope to see you all then, but please know that we have a lot more to shave off before we are ready to unveil Sparkour to you!

Let's Do This Again Sometime...

Whew! That was a hefty update. Ive been holding off on updating you guys for a multitude of reasons, so I had a bit to unload. Well keep you all posted on what were doing, and well include more details on the game in future updates. We cant show our cards just yet! Until then, stay tuned everyone. I seriously love you all and I cant wait to share this awesome little game with you.
Love you all, Casey. Follow caseytube on Twitter! Follow sparkourgame on Twitter!
