Hello little goblins, Thank you for all your support throughout the years. 8 years, to be more precise, as the first game in the series - Goblin and Coins - was released on November 8th 2016. Time simply flies by. There are two more Goblin and coins games since, a very difficult Goblin and Coins II with metroidvania-lik levels and a focus on exploration and acquiring upgrades, and an easier alternative to it, The Lost Recipes, which is more similar to the first game, with mostly linear levels and unlimited continues. In order to celebrate together, a franchise link has been created on steam, so it's easier to find all the games in the series, and also there will be a significant discount on all three games at the same time a bit later this month (scheduling requirements prevent it from starting today). Don't forget that purchasing a complete-your-collection bundle gives you an additional discount on top of the regular discount. Happy 8th goblinversary to all of you! PS There just might be a tiny giveaway hidden here.
The wait is finally over, The Lost Recipes is OUT NOW and can be purchased on Steam. Please note that, if you already own the previous two games, you can save on top of the -20% launch discount by purchasing the complete the set bundle. What awaits you?
- Familiar platforming mechanics, traps and enemies, but improved!
- 25 handcrafted levels
- world 1 very easy, worlds 2 and 3 easy/medium, worlds 4-5 a bit challenging
- Unlimited continues / level restarts
- No boss fights, just platforming fun!
- Double-jump available from the very start of the game
- 5 brand new recipes to unlock, prepare (baking), and post your artwork to the game hub
- English and Serbian language (with Brazilian Portuguese coming soon and more to potentially come later)
- Gamepad support, keyboard re-binding
Hello little goblins, Let's head back into adventuring and numismatics! The Lost Recipes, a much easier stand-alone expansion for the Goblin and Coins II, will release on August 28th on Steam. What can you expect?
- 25 handcrafted levels (that get a bit challenging close to the end, but are a walk in the park compared to the most of GnC2 maze-like levels)
- Familiar mechanics, traps and enemies - but improved!
- Unlimited continues / level restarts
- No boss fights, just platforming
- Double-jump available from the very start of the game
- 5 brand new recipes to unlock, prepare, and post your artwork to the game hub
- Locked chests, shortcut portals and secret areas
- Affordable price
- Doesn't require you to play any previous game

Goblin and Coins II, a direct sequel to the Goblin and Coins, is planned to release on Steam in April of 2023. The game will feature 25 handcrafted story levels, 5 boss battles, 5 secret/bonus levels and the ability to regain lives/continues when all are lost. The focus is on bringing features gamers requested after enjoying the first game. https://youtu.be/u-DVAzLCTy0 Run and jump through a new adventure, explore the world, collect coins, unlock upgrades, revisit levels to find secrets and face enemies old and new. What's new?
- Improved graphics, extended mechanics and simple puzzles
- Create your own difficulty by getting or ignoring the upgrades
- Revisit levels, find secrets, optional easier start for the new players
- No game over - there's a secret way to regain your lost lives...
- It Already supports English, Serbian, Turkish, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian, with more languages coming in the future.
Goblin and Coins II will participate in the NEXT FEST June '22 with a DEMO for you to try out and hopefully have fun. What to expect in the DEMO:
- English and Serbian language only. More to come in the full release.
- Only the Windows build available for now, Linux/SteamDeck dedicated build coming later (you can try and use Proton though, should work perfectly).
- All settings and options available, be sure to tune it to your liking before playing.
- Available levels: Midnight raid, Sunny beach, Fisherman's village, Dark mines, Downhill, Cpt. Greenbeard boss fight, Snowy pass, Ice caves (+ the underground, a special level you only get to see after you lose all lives/continues). These are the initial levels and are on the easy side.
- Quarter of the world map, including store/trader (ingame coins exchanged for upgrades, no mtx!)
- Upgrade 2 (double jump) is purchasable for free (available sum will go into debt now, will cost 100 coins later. I recommend getting the 4th life first, so you can have both)
- Upgrade 4 (shrinky in a blinky) works automatically without a purchase (will cost 200 coins later, enables using crawlspaces)
There's an unofficial confirmation that Goblin and Coins works out of the box on SteamDeck. Here's a picture proof:
We're all waiting for Valve to test and sort all the 60.000+ games on Steam for SteamDeck compatibility. With that amount of material to go through, it's understandable that Goblin and Coins, being a very small indie game, won't be a priority for a while, and that's okay (there's ~1300 games rated so far).
But while we wait for the official rating, there's many 3rd parties that have access to SteamDeck and with the lifting of embargos and the official release of the handheld, it's now possible to simply have the game tested - not as throuough as Valve's doing it and certainly not with an official verified/playable rating yet - but enough to know there's a 2D platformer you can run on your brand new handheld when that bean soup starts playing it's tune.

It's completely free for you to participate, just request access at any time during this period and you'll get notified when you can download and test the early build of the game. Goblin and Coins II has been in development since late 2017. Right now there's an alpha build being tested with tutorial/intro level, map, trader, "the underground" and 4 various regular levels. Watch this short video to see how GnC2 is different from GnC1, with a focus on caves/mines in the 2nd half of the video. I've pushed a minor change that should in theory address the slowdowns that were happening on windows platform, without the need for players to use dx11 beta build. In my tests it works and fps doesn't drop to 24 with everything dragging around slowly, but this was a wild run so you'll have to test for yourself if the game is sticking close to 30fps with gameplay simply flying.
Ever since Windows 10 v.1703 (Creators Update) the game (and many other titles) had issues with the fullscreen mode. At first it was just a black/white screen (easily mitigated with a compatibility mode), which was sort of fixed with the release of Win10FCU (1709) and KB4048955, but for some reason ever since game runs sluggish and under 30 fps even if it worked perfectly fine before... and runs fine on older versions of Windows even today.
It's playable, and gamers who aren't using frame counters might not even notice, but everything just feels way too slower than intended on random occasions. I've finally decided to try making this experimental DX11 build available, as it should work perfectly fine on any modern computer able to run DirectX 11. The reason I didn't do it earlier is because I wanted to keep backward compatibility with older computers and Windows 7. Using it as a separate build will keep that, while providing normal gameplay and experience to everyone else.
Simply right click the game title in the library, select "properties" and in the Betas tab select "DX11 build" from the dropdown menu. You don't need a password or anything.
This game is more than 4 years old and GnC2 is in advanced stage of development, so I can't really promise anything, but I do have some ideas on potentially updating all builds to DX11 and making it default if this proves as a good solution. So if you decide to try it, please let me know if there's any bugs or how it ran compared to the default build for you.
Hello little goblins, We're all stuck at home and it's sometimes hard to keep your mind off what's going on in the world, but if you're willing to try, here's an idea - imagine goblin is stuck at home too. Because of reasons, I dunno. Hiding from the dragon or something. Now, what would that home look like? What would goblin do to pass the time? Any weird details in that picture? Can you see it in your minds eye? Nice! Now get your pens, your pencils, crayons, Wacom tablet, sharpies, watercolors, whatever you prefer, and draw that scene, upload it to the game hub between April 1st and 30th and tag it #stayhome in the title. If you feel really really inspired, you can even submit more than one artwork, as long as it's your original work. Beauty is in the eye of beholder, and as there's no beholders in this game, I'll just select a few of the most interesting artworks and give them some very small, you could say symbolic, prizes. Yes, it IS steam keys for games. So, this is what we have on offer today:
- 2 copies of DOOM II (1994). Might not have the word in the name, but it's eternal alright.
- 1 copy of Sword Legacy Omen
- 1 copy of Street Fighter V
- 1 copy of Trailmakers
- 2 copies of A story about my uncle
- 2 copies of Seven Mysteries: The Last Page
- Avoid public gatherings
- Wash hands thoroughly
- Don't touch your face
- Air the rooms, disinfect door handles, railings, ...
- Avoid close contact with people having symptoms similar to flu
- Drink water, eat fruits, exercise, boost immune system...
- If possible, work from home
- Don't buy all the toilet paper in the store ffs
- If you were in contact with a confirmed patient, call the phone number for your area and ask for instructions
- If self-isolating, try to find something to do, wink-wink...
I know you long for some more of the goblin's bean-soup my pretties, but the winter is long and full of lost coins and the strains that puts on a friendship can down a dragon if it's not careful, and we know, my pretties, that dragons are not the most careful of beings, all glorious and full of... Well... While you wait for the next chapter in my story, you can warm your heart with friendship and love by sharing the adventure with a loved one. But only if they'll make a bean soup for you later. Or an eggmeal. It's the rule. It is known, goblinisi. - Goblin the 1st, master Chef of the royal dungeon cafeteria.
A sequel to GnC has been announced and there's a store page you can check out, follow and wishlist the game if you like what you see. https://store.steampowered.com/app/694990/Goblin_and_Coins_II/
Just a reminder that there is a community event happening right now. Find out more and be informed on time in the future by joining the official steam group for all the GnC titles.

Added D-input support for Windows. This should enable users with older/generic controllers to use them in the game. Please note that buttons might be mapped differently than on x-input controllers and you might have to enable analogue mode (or try other things) in order to use your controller. If you encounter any troubles, please report in the community forums and remember to mention what version of the game you are using (for example, 1.0.4. Spanish) and what kind of controller (x-input or d-input).

Hello! It's been a year since the release of Goblin and Coins. I'd like to thank you all for the support. This game wouldn't exist without it. I just hope you enjoyed playing the game as much as I did making it. That said, I am slowly working on the sequel. If you're interested in that and/or want to join fun community events, please visit the Goblin community group.

Hello little goblins! I've adjusted the regional pricing for 15 currencies to make it more fair (because of exchange rates changing in the previous months) by lowering the regional price a little bit. No regional prices were raised at this time. Find out more about this and follow the community events and other news by joining the official Goblins group.

Fixed a visibility issue with old school difficulty only bean cauldrons in Spanish and Russian version of the game. Patch 1.0.3 added new bean soup cauldrons to certain levels that were supposed to be visible only in old school difficulty. Due to a minor bug they were visible - but not allowed for picking up - to casual players using Spanish or Russian version of the game. This should be fixed now and these cauldrons will not be visible and will not confuse the players anymore.
