Story
- Redundancies have been cut, and the order of several lines of text has been reorganized to make the story more understandable and enjoyable.
- Introduction lore text has been added to introduce the story at the very beginning of the game.
- Additional content at the end of the story ('epilogue' DLC) enriches the ending and provides a new perspective on the story. You can still make different choices at the end of the story based on the completion of the Skull quest, activation of all the gears, and collection of the Dry Artifacts.
- New tutorial levels have been added to the main story for every unlocked power.
Gameplay
- Platforming is slightly more forgiving.
- The skill tree has been restructured and redundancies have been cut.
- New bosses have been added to fight during the story to obtain relics and artifacts.
- The savegames of the new version won't work with the old one.
- You will be able to play the old version in the beta.
Aesthetic
- Every key asset of the game has been re-imagined from scratch to give a coherent look to the game's technology, in particular: [olist]

- 99.9% of the 3D models have been redone by hand, and every texture has been updated.

Fixes
- Given that the code has been fundamentally restructured and this version is the result of a process that has taken place intermittently over the last six years, it is difficult to provide a precise list of fixed bugs. All the bugs that have been reported and that we were able to reproduce have been resolved.
Legibility
- Level design has been massively updated to be more intuitive at first glance.
- Anomalies have an updated look and are now easier to spot.
- Due to the vertical nature of the game, we replaced the old "Skyrim-like" compass with a system of screen icons, making every objective and point of interest easier to spot.
Performance
- Massive optimizations have been made (the game now runs at 60 FPS on the Steam Deck at full resolution without upscaling, whereas before it struggled to maintain 20 FPS).
- FSR and RSR have been added, but we are confident that they will not be needed for the vast majority of players.

We want to thank you all once again for your support and patience. It has been a long time since we last shared an update about the progress of our internal development team. We are making solid progress and know that there is a committed and passionate team that is working hard behind the scenes. Die Young is now available on PlayStation 4
Happy New Year! 2020 has been a long year full of unpleasant surprises, but we wanted to start 2021 strong and with two pleasant surprises. Firstly, Die Young is now available on the PlayStation Store. We know it may seem a bit odd to some for us to post an announcement here on Steam, but we simply couldn't contain our excitement and we wanted to share it with our fans, especially the ones who have been requesting this version for a while now. Die Young is out now on PS4 in English, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Turkish (screen languages). For those lucky few who have managed to get a PS5...to play this game on PS5, your system may need to be updated to the latest system software. Although this game is playable on PS5, some features available on PS4 may be absent. Unfortunately the US release will take place at the end of this month, but it is on its way nevertheless. Secondly, we have not forgotten about our PC fans. Die Young just got updated on Steam. Here are the release notes: Below is the changelog with the most important fixes, mainly stuff that we did for Ps4 submission but there are few nice goodies: CHANGELOG ver 1.2.5 - fix for a bug that didn't trigger Good Ending (player got stuck in the final arena after killing all enemies). - fix for a new exploit to Biofuel Refinery (allowed to collect the Fuel Can before having the Lighter, generating the Generator bug at the Radio Tower) - fix to animations dogs / wolves / Cujo (the rotations were broken) - fix farmer animations (animations were broken and some farmers skidded from one point to another in their paths) - AI perception fix (enemies were stuck indefinitely if they perceived a sound from an unreachable point) - Fix for junkie AI (remained motionless after taking a few hits) - fix for bug in The Collector shop (deleted some items, without giving them, if bought in case of full inventory) - fix for various graphic bugs - various fixes in level design Enjoy!

Finally, here we are! The Downward 1.0 version has been released and we are out from Early Access!
We are very proud of ourselves and, above all, we are proud of the Downward community that helped us so much in these six monts, allowing us to come out from EA (which not very common these days): thank you all!
Version 1.0
So with Downward v1.0 among other things we have finally the full story and the three alternative endings (we can say the endings are "Dark Souls like", so please don't expect some "The Witcher" or "Mass Effect" stuff, we are a small indie team after all!!). Unlocking the two extra endings will allow you to discover the final lore elements about the different characters, and let you make different choices at the very end of the game.

A new build with this hotfix has been just released and is available to download! We tested the new build with latest Nvidia drivers 384.76 and no issue has been found. About the Nvidia drivers issue: drivers 384.76 released yesterday, unfortunately, are still broken.

Hi guys, Caracal team is glad to announce that Downward will officially enter Full Release on the 13th of July!! It’s been a long road together, and thanks to everyone’s feedback we had the chance to improve the quality of the game many times over. [By all means, continue to send us feedback if you have any!] With the full release, we will deliver the final part of the story, together with unlocking the last planet and the new areas to explore. Even after the full release, we will continue to support Downward with hotfix and improvements! As that will mean the end of the Early Access, the current price of the game will be increased to match the level of contents present in the game at that point. As we are currently in the midst of the Summer sale, we advise all people curious to take advantage of the sales! For all Linux users: the Linux full version of the game will be delivered shortly after the 13th of July, thanks for your patience.

Hi all, during the last week, we received reports about crashing issues so, after focusing our effort investigating, we found that the origin of the issue is related to the latest NVIDIA drivers (382.33) which go in conflicts with the engine. Now the majority of known game crashes should be solved.

First, as we received many requests for it, we made a free demo available to anyone! To all of you who were just a bit curious, come give it a try!
Then we added a new, customizable area to the game!
You will now be able to access the Merchant’s Lair, an underground secret cove where you can study your enemies, prepare to explore, train and also… lay around! The place can be customized to satisfy your needs using Skypieces to furnish rooms or buy upgrades and gadgets.
Next, a big innovation for challenge-seeking players!
With this update, we introduce a global leaderboard system for time challenges!
We already know that some among you achieve very good times in the challenges… but are you ready to challenge the entire community?
Additionally, this update introduces the new voice acting. We gathered a lot of feedback to make the whole story feel more natural and interesting. We tried to let the main character’s personality come out more.

Update v0.49a introduces some minor adjustments to the main quest in preparation for the big update scheduled for next week.
For this reason, in some rare situations when loading the game you could have troubles with the current objective of the main quest, which could make it necessary to re-complete the last goal or in some cases to start a new game.

- New alternative path added in the tutorial area, now planets’ control machines can be used to progress.

As previously announced during the last two weeks we worked on Linux + SteamOS support.
Today we are excited to expand the game to this platform.
The build has been tested on Ubuntu 16.10 and no critical issue was found.

- Fixed a bug when using analog sticks during gamepad remapping.

- Added gamepad remapping support.
- Added camera rotation while wall running to make it more understandable.
- Added a new game option to enable/disable camera retargeting during wall jumps.
- Fixed a bug inside the main menu where the "Continue" button remains on screen even if no savegame is available.
- Fixed a bug with the "Healing Charge" that refilled health above the current max value.

Parkour:- The Earth's equilibrium has been destroyed. Use the techniques of wall-jumps, wall-runs, climbs, sprints and more to traverse the altered lands and escape from the many dangers you will face.
