Patch 1.17 is now live and should be downloaded automatically if you are using Steam. This adds French as a language option. Thanks to everyone without whom this would not have been possible. Your efforts are greatly appreciated! The following people worked on making the French translation possible: ObscurityDragon (Translation, rewiewing, admin) AraMacaw (Translation, rewiewing, admin) Venus (Reviewing) Alpha the dragon (Translation, rewiewing) BrzzWind (Translation, rewiewing) Arcegis (Translation, rewiewing) Ceanoth (Translation) Gone46 (Translation, rewiewing) StormTheWyvern (Translation & Github management) Kawaku (Translation) Manfred Thorston, Aka Manakhan (Translation) Xraykill115 (Translation) 4Onen (Modding)
Patch 1.16 is now live and should be downloaded automatically if you are using Steam. This improves the issue about the game not starting when mods are installed. We have found this helps in some cases, although for others the issue still remains. We will continue to investigate.
Patch 1.15 is now live and should be downloaded automatically if you are using Steam. This adds Spanish as a language option. Thanks to Yisus, Omegalfa1, Cattiston and DragonDesigner without whom this would not have been possible. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
Patch 1.14 is now live and should be downloaded automatically if you are using Steam. This fixes an issue where achievements would not unlock on Steam. Starting the game with this version should automatically unlock all achievements on Steam that you have unlocked in the game. There is a possibility that starting the game will display an error message due to files from the old version not being deleted automatically. If this happens to you, you can follow these steps: 1. Navigate to the game's install directory. 2. Uninstall the game on Steam. 3. Delete any remaining files inside the game's install directory. 4. Re-install the game.
Patch 1.13 is now live and should be downloaded automatically if you are using Steam. This fixes an issue where the game sometimes refused to start when mods are installed.
It doesn't seem that long ago that I wrote the last anniversary post. Time can just fly when you're busy. Despite that, I unfortunately wasn't able to keep the anticipated release date of 2023 for the sequel to Angels with Scaly Wings. I again could go into the reasons for why the game is taking so long due to the vastly increased scope compared to the first game, but I've already talked about that at length. Skip the next few paragraphs if you want to go into the sequel with no prior knowledge (which I would recommend). --Potential spoilers starting here--
Perhaps one tidbit I haven't mentioned before is that this time around, the main character will be working with a team of characters instead of mostly being on their own. What does this mean? There will be a lot more scenes where multiple characters are present, and they will feature interactions between these characters. Investigations are much more interesting this time around, and will typically involve at least one other character besides the player character. The presence of one or more other characters during these scenes add a lot of complexity as they will be influenced by each character's moods and other factors. Doing this when the game's final script will have roughly double the word count compared to the first game is adding a lot more work than we initially anticipated. But we'll keep at it! And I think the end result will be more than worth it.
--Potential spoilers ending here-- I am definitely planning to show much more of the game throughout this year. But to ease the wait a little bit, we have prepared something special for you. Some years back, we created a mobile version of the game for android devices. Unfortunately, we never got the opportunity to publish it on the various mobile platforms, so we are adding the .apk file for this to Steam and itch.io. So, anyone who has previously purchased Angels with Scaly Wings will be able to access and play this mobile version. However, there is a downside to this. As we made this version some years ago, it is only updated to version 1.08. The latest patches, including the Japanese language overhaul and other added languages are not present here. But we figured we should make this version available as we had no other way to release it at this point and it's just been sitting here collecting dust. Quite some effort went into making the game work as nicely as possible on both phones and tablets, including gesture controls, and new settings to adjust text and cursor size. On Steam, you should find the .apk file to install it on your android device in the game's install directory. On itch.io, you should find the file available as separate download on the game's download page.

Cycle 928: A storm causes severe destruction. Cycle 930: A stone said to have mysterious powers is found by a meatman near a river bank. After supposedly causing the deaths of three people, the stone is either lost by its owner or disappears. Cycle 933: The regentship declares the recovery phase of nearby lake Crimson Sand to be over, and fishing in the lake resumes. Cycle 936: Heiress Melissa is ousted and flees after an attack by a rival clan that leaves the regentship in disarray.* *The events following this incident are unknown, as multiple sources contradict each other regarding the fate of the overthrown descendant. While Melissa supposedly returned to reign over her land after coming to an agreement with the attackers, some contemporary sources insist that this Melissa was an impostor, deceiving both the public and the attackers as no family members remained who could have identified a supposed schemer. An alternative theory suggests this new Melissa was created by the attackers themselves, who reigned by proxy by deceiving the public with the supposed return of the heiress. However, it is just as likely that the fleeing Melissa was ultimately caught by the attackers and forced to act as a regent, while the attackers dictated her every move and policy from behind the scenes henceforth. Curiously, there are also claims that Melissa indeed was able to make her way to a distant place, where she then led a quiet life. Cycle 940: Heiress "Melissa", the then-current regent, passes away from a mysterious illness. Though speculation exists that she may have been gravid at the time of death, there is no offspring to succeed her. In absence of an heir through familial ties, Chief Advisor Rogrett - only a few cycles earlier known as the leader of the attacking clan - steps in to take on reigning duties. Cycle 941: Regent Rogrett normalizes relations with surrounding clans and agrees to the delivery of 20 Mouflon furs as payment for custom-fitted jewelry.
Today marks AwSW's 6th anniversary. It's a little hard to believe so much time has already passed since the first game! To celebrate the occasion, we have added some new merch on our Redbubble store: clothing and phone cases can now be selected for some of the designs. You can find our Redbubble store here: https://www.redbubble.com/people/mbsaunders/explore?asc=u&page=1&sortOrder=top%20selling I'll also take this opportunity to provide an update about the development of my next game: Angels with Scaly Wings, part 2. In the past year, I finished writing all the content that is available during a first playthrough. All this writing has also been edited. My next tasks are implementing the editor's comments and finalizing the text, and starting to put this in the actual game (programming). Right now, I am almost done finalizing the text for chapter 1 - which in itself is the size of a novel. In total, I am estimating the final game will have a word count that is roughly twice the size of AwSW - if not more (350.000 - 400.000 words). Character designs are almost finished at this point. That means this category joins music and backgrounds, which also (almost) cover all the content that has been written so far. We have also made significant progress with the in-game character sprites, though we still have a fair amount left to do. Last year was also the year we wanted to make big strides with CGs (the big illustrations accompanying certain events which are usually only seen once in a playthrough). Unfortunately, we haven't made as much progress on this front as we would have liked. We still have a lot of work to do here! I remain committed to bring my vision for this game to life in the best way we can. With this in mind, when should you expect to be able to play the game? I don't want to promise too much, so I'll say at this rate we are aiming for Q4 of this year. We'll just have to see how things evolve and progress throughout this year. We'll certainly try to do our best!
Cole is a dragon of many talents. As a producer and seller of fruit, he is usually seen offering his wares in Covenant City's market street - where he also picks up the latest gossip from his many customers.
His job sees him commute to and from Idyl's End regularly to pick up the latest harvest or move his stock. Luckily, the roads between the cities are relatively safe nowadays, but that doesn't mean leaving the city walls is without any risk.
The desert's dirt roads can still be treacherous, and the mountains hide many a secret.

Warning! The text below may constitute spoilers for people who have not played and finished Angels with Scaly Wings yet!
Collective survival requires cooperation. Cooperation requires consensus.
But the future has made things complicated. Meaningful consensus requires a system of ascertaining the greatest good. Who makes the decisions? How will it be decided who is chosen to take on the responsibilities of the new world?
Humans returned to what they knew: Politics.
Robert Lamon is an ambassador who represents New Bastion in all political matters. Working closely with the leaders of all three cities, he is - in a way - representing humanity to dragons, not unlike how another ambassador once did in the dragon world.
Cameron Barnes became Covenant City's first officially elected Mayor. Wanting to experience the height of human civilization, it was his decision to rebuild Covenant City as it once was. Honest to a fault, his attitude of wanting to please everyone during negotiations sometimes comes at his own detriment. At least, according to his critics.
After the great journey, a message was sent out offering a place in this new sanctuary to any survivors around the world.
The tale went far, much further than Covenant City initially expected.
Soon came the first travelers, a miracle celebrated by those in charge.
They had endured the dangerous trek through the desert - evading raiders, starvation and other dangers alike.
More followed, graciously accepted into the vast Covenant City that was filled with empty buildings.
But the influx of new arrivals from all over the continent never stopped.
Soon, there were too many to safely integrate into the precarious, still-developing infrastructure of the fledgling metropolis.
And so, a camp was erected from the remains of an outpost not too far from Covenant City itself. Here, new arrivals would remain while Covenant City did its best to clean up the abandoned skyscrapers and offer the new homes - once readied - to those waiting in the camp.
But what was believed at the time to be a temporary accomodation became more permanent for some. Demand for new homes in Covenant City outgrew the pace they could be offered. The camp, lacking the luxuries and pomp of Covenant City, grew ever larger.
At least there was no shortage of work to go around as people from all cities worked together to rebuild.
And the camp, now with a labor force the other cities depended on, eventually declared independence after long having outgrown its purpose as a simple reception camp and waiting room.
Sure, in New Bastion - now a city in its own right - conditions were basic and didn't have the cutting edge technology of Covenant City, nor the comfort of Idyl's End - but it was livable.
With demand in Covenant City homes ever outpacing their supply, some focused more on building their future in New Bastion instead of hoping Covenant City would keep its promise...
The world has gotten complicated.
Three city-states - also known as the trifecta - work on ensuring collective survival together, while each also faces its own individual challenges.
But while the people who used to live in Bastion have a much better standard of living now in Covenant City, the introduction of complex politics - again dividing people over opinions of how to best tackle the city's problems - almost make some people look back at times before the dragons' arrival with nostalgia.
Everyone pulled together when the threat of extinction was dire. Nowadays, unity is harder to find in the details, procedures and new possibilities brought by technology.
The dragons, too, try to adjust to their new surroundings. Never before had a Minister of Defense needed to deal with defending borders against sapient enemies wielding human weaponry. Nor had they ever needed a Foreign Minister - in charge of managing relations with a culture the dragons still had much to learn about.
Rudnik bears the scars of underestimating the raider threat - a mistake he won't repeat again. As the Minister of Defense, his duty lies with shielding the populace of Idyl's End from the realities of the new world.
Malina's position as the Foreign Minister has not yet gained total acceptance in Idyl's End due to the need for managing relations with humans not being fully understood. As she used to work in an orphanage, she uses her experience of handling hatchlings to navigate the complexities of political issues.
Warning! The text below may constitute spoilers for people who have not played and finished Angels with Scaly Wings yet!
The Great Journey ensured the continued survival of dragonkind and mankind both. However, not everyone was happy living together in one big city. Not for a lack of trying - both civilizations wanted to make it work. Ultimately, humans did not turn out to be the benevolent gods dragons had believed in. Cultural differences made it impossible to decide on a direction for rebuilding Covenant City that pleased everybody. After all, dragons had just entered a wasteland that was beset by raiders, and not everyone was ready to be assimilated into a human city - human culture. While dragons were invited to stay in Covenant City if they so chose, the vast majority did not accept this offer. Minds resistant to change sought comfort in familiarity. And thus, Idyl's End - the dragon city - was born. In Idyl's End, a part of the dragon's world survived.
[previewyoutube=ekp3PxOMfww;leftthumb][/previewyoutube]
Covenant City is home to a variety of people, many of which you will be able to meet over the course of Angels with Scaly Wings, part 2s story.
While there will be main and secondary characters just like in Angels with Scaly Wings, the game will also feature a large cast of characters who have smaller roles to flesh out the games world.
Lets introduce a pair of them, shall we?
Shane D.
Shane is a rather reclusive dragon who lives alone. After legal trouble involving a minister when he was still living in the dragon world, he hopes to escape his past in Covenant City.
While one look at him might make you think of static shocks, this uncommon species is actually known for having a specialized organ that can create electricity. If you ever worried about your hair standing on end, just imagine what it does to him!
Imelda Pantoli
Imelda is the rather eccentric owner of several pizza bakeries. Rarely seen without her Ixomen Sphere, onlookers may wonder about her almost treating it like a pet. And how does she get those pizzas out of the oven?
Previously known colloquially as Bastion, its name now represents a pact made between two civilizations for mutual protection in a hostile world.
Known as a hub of technology and innovation before the Flare, it was prepared a little better than other cities may have been for the impending catastrophe.
While its energy infrastructure was destroyed nonetheless, other pieces of vital technology such as hospital equipment remained as measures were taken in time to protect them, and the citys nature as a technological hub made this possible on short notice.
The result was not major destruction as many other cities faced, yet eventually the city still lay abandoned.
Without huge amounts of energy, the city - situated in the middle of a desert - struggled when there were no other immediate means of creating food or long-term access to safe water.
With time, more and more people left believing it to be doomed, only to realize other places were not necessarily in a better state.
A small contingent of people, wandering the now mostly-abandoned city, could survive reasonably well under these circumstances - evading the attention major cities and areas received that others had turned to. After all, who would try their luck to find remnants of civilization in the middle of a barren desert?
That is, until the complete breakdown of society led to the creation of raider gangs that roamed the lands.
But when the dragons appeared, the energy and technology they brought helped to quickly restore some parts of the city to its former glory.
Many areas still lie empty and in various states of (dis)repair, but with the dragons help, Covenant City has become what may be the most livable place on Earth.

It's official: My next visual novel is going to be "Angels with Scaly Wings, part 2". Alluded to in last year's April Fool's Day post, as well as the teaser we released last month, this reveal finally makes official what some of you may have already suspected. Taking place 4 years after the events of Angels with Scaly Wings' True Ending, a murder threatens to upset the delicate balance between the 3 cities of the new world. Today marks AwSW's 5th anniversary, and as such I believe it is time to elaborate a little on the history of the sequel and where we stand today. It really started during the development of AwSW. While writing the story, I would get many ideas about events and things that could happen to characters and the world in the future. I wrote down all of those ideas, and as development progressed these ideas started forming into an overarching story. By the time we neared release for AwSW, I knew I wanted to create that sequel if I would be given the opportunity. The only question for me was whether AwSW would be successful enough to make this possible. That is how the secret ending came into play. Would I not be able to create the sequel, the true ending would still be a good place to end the story, while the secret ending could tease what was to come if I was able to contiue and make another game. Ultimately, Angels with Scaly Wings was planned as one, big story. When AwSW finally released, the first scene and events of the true ending for the sequel were already known to me, and work on the sequel commenced almost immediately. The story became bigger and bigger, and I eventually realized this game would take a very long time to make. That's where Angels with Broken Hearts (our webcomic taking place in the world of AwSW) came in. I was looking for a good way to elaborate on the world and characters of AwSW that I felt needed to be introduced to players to provide important context before playing the sequel - as carrying the story of the sequel was a big enough task on its own. Since the game would take place in the new world, Reza's chapters in particular were a necessity so players would have the opportunity to know more about the human world and Reza's story - though of course other chapters of AwBH also play their part and not just Reza's. Between this, a japanese translation and the console ports, my attention unfortunately became somewhat unfocused in order to make all of these things happen - further slowing the work on the sequel. For this game, we are aiming for improvements on all fronts, meaning a lot more people to be involved (and assets to be created). As of today, the various aspects are in very different states of completion, with music, backgrounds and character designs being mostly done - while others such as programming and CGs haven't been given much attention yet. I am very confident in the people who are working on this game to raise the bar - and you will definitely be able to spot a number of familiar names in the credits as well. We expect Angels with Scaly Wings, part 2 will release at some point in 2023 (hopefully sooner rather than later). When you eventually get the chance to play it, the amount of time to get through should be significantly higher compared to AwSW due to the sheer amount of content. I don't think I can express in words how important the world and story of AwSW are to me - especially in light of all the lovely messages and reviews I have received about how much this story has meant to players. I am very much looking forward to share this next chapter of Angels with Scaly Wings with you. Unfortunately, you will have to wait a while longer as many more days of work are ahead of us until this is possible. However, with these news finally unveiled, I will also be able to start talking about the next game in more detail and share various pieces in blog posts just like this one throughout the year.
In two days I will release a teaser trailer for my next game. I set up a Youtube premiere for it. If you are there when the premiere hits you can watch it at the same time with everyone else while live chat is going on. And of course I'll be there as well. You can set a reminder and watch it here: https://youtu.be/3ODRRq5Q4Ro
You heard that right!

Patch 1.1 is now live and should be downloaded automatically if you are using Steam. This version fixes a small issue with Adine's sprite not appearing in Chapter 3 when going to the portal while she is disappointed. Apparently this issue was so rarely reported because players would rather not continue the game while not being on good terms with her! The patch also adds a text translation for Brazilian Portuguese due to the efforts of Zeez (@zeez145, TiagoS#5071), which we greatly appreciate (Thank you Zeez!). I hope this will enable more players to experience the game.
Angels with Scaly Wings turns 4 today! Patch 1.09 is now live and should be downloaded automatically if you use Steam. The biggest change in this version is the addition of Japanese! A language selector will now appear every time when starting the game. The language can't be changed during the game. Besides that, we have also made a number of small improvements, which may be the last adjustment we make to the game functionality itself: - Some ui elements were changed to be clearer. - Bryce's ghost won't show up in Lorem's first scene anymore. - Lorem's Orb is now easier to find. However, we have noticed some of the larger underlying changes for additional language support may make certain save files from older versions unusable or behave strangely. This does not apply to the save of the game's overall progress, but just those of an individual playthrough. In such cases, starting a new playthrough should work without further issues.
Angels with Scaly Wings merchandise is now available on these two sites:
Redbubble:
https://www.redbubble.com/people/mbsaunders/portfolio
Zazzle:
https://www.zazzle.com/store/mbsaunders
https://www.zazzle.co.uk/store/mbsaunders
Why two different sites? Both sites gave us different opportunities that made some unique things possible.
For example, Sebastian's (Bastion) Breach playing cards are only available on Zazzle.
Pricing for similar items may also be different on the two sites, so depending on what you're looking for, one may end up better than the other!
Even more importantly, one may offer better shipping options to your country.
With this, we have answered to another request we have received many, many times since release of the game. Maybe some of you remember design elements that you can see here being teased quite a while ago in our social media channels, or you may recognize a certain piece of art here.
We actually commissioned a number of different artists to come up with some interesting designs - one of which made a piece of fanart before that prompted us to commission her to come up with more designs so that we would have one for each main character!
You can see the result of all this above! Feel free to browse - maybe you'll find something you'd like?
The Bryce plushes that were available for pre-order last year have made it around the globe. Some additional ones we had made are now available here: https://lunarshinestore.com/products/bryce-from-angels-with-scaly-wings-plush-toy We don't have many available and aren't planning to make more at the moment, so if you are interested and haven't gotten one, this is your chance!
Bryce Plush now available for pre-order! We are glad to finally be able to unveil the official AwSW Bryce plush! Pre-Order here: https://lunarshinestore.com/products/bryce-from-angels-with-scaly-wings-plush-toy When we set out to do this, we knew it would be very difficult. By now it's taken almost two years to get to this point. I had zero experience with making something like this happen, and the challenges associated with creating something physical rather than just digital items like AwSW itself are very different. Nevertheless, here we are - and the reason is simple: ever since the release of AwSW, I've been asked time and time again if we ever would make plush items of the characters. Of course, thinking of doing something and then actually doing it are two very different things. The fact that it has taken this long to make it happen is just proof of that. But, anyways - the Bryce plush is now available for pre-order! This is a very necessary step for us, because this lets us know how many we should produce - manufacture is very complicated! We also need at least 80 pre-orders in order to make the production possible. In a way, this is very similar to a crowdfunding campaign - because essentially we need enough pre-orders to show that people are interested in these! Can we make it happen? I certainly hope so! For more details and to pre-order: https://lunarshinestore.com/products/bryce-from-angels-with-scaly-wings-plush-toy
Angels with Scaly Wings - The Animated Series is the newest, inevitable expansion to the much-lauded dragon dating media franchise "Angels with Scaly Wings". The Animated Series has recently started development after years of fierce negotiation between M. B. Saunders, creator of Angels with Scaly Wings, and a number of well-known animation giants such as Didney and Dreamjobs. If early rumors are to be believed, the series will follow an all-new adventure story that will bridge the gap between the events of Angels with Scaly Wings: Part 2 and Angels with Scaly Wings: Part 3. While the provided details are sparse at the moment, it has come out that negotiations took an unusually long time because of Saunders' insistence that the series aim for at least an "R" rating. "We never pulled any punches, and I wasn't going to start now. That R rating? I'll tell you it's not because of violence." , Saunders says in a statement. Whatever Saunders may have meant with that statement, we will find out once the series release on (date), exclusively available on the Webflux internet content streaming service. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements!
This day marks the second anniversary of Angels with Scaly Wings' release. Reflecting back on the last year (and also last year's anniversary post), I feel I got distracted by a number of things not related to our next game that took much longer than anticipated, and as a result, I did not make as much progress on that front as I would have liked. You can see the results of some of these efforts in the form of the wiki we launched, and more importantly, launching Angels with Broken Hearts - which instantly got much more support than I expected. I have been amazed by the continued support of fans and new people who keep discovering AwSW every month. My sincere thanks go out to everyone who has bought or played AwSW, and also the readers and patrons of AwBH, as it is because of you I can keep doing what I am doing. In turn, I hope not to disappoint with everything we've got planned. Of course, there is now the steady release of new pages for AwBH, but that's far from the only thing we've been working on. As I don't want to keep people in the dark too much and some of these things were already mentioned in last year's anniversary post, I again present a list of things we've spent time on last year: - Angels with Broken Hearts: Getting AwBH started took much longer than expected. The script I envisioned ended up being almost the size of a novel, and it seems there will be a corresponding amount of total pages. - Mobile ports: I picked up our older efforts to make mobile ports of AwSW again. A lot of progress has been made on that front and it would likely be very playable in its current form, but it is not bug free or finished yet. Ultimately this turned out to require a lot more work than expected, and so far the list of changes and adjustments that were necessary to bring it this far is three pages long - ranging from improving performance, removing bugs and changes to the UI, controls and game to make it more suited and playable on a mobile device. There are concerns that make me wonder if we'll even be able to offer it on Google Play or the App Store, but we will try to get it into the hands of interested people one way or another. - Merchandise: After the recent polls we ran, it's probably not hard to guess what we've been trying to do. The process to get there was very hard, though. I am hopeful that our current efforts will pay off and that it won't take another year to do so. - Board game: I spent a few months of last year designing a board game. It is based on an old idea I had, but it wasn't until I connected that idea with a story of mine that I got the inspiration to pursue this. I ended up pitching the result to a number of different publishers, and 5 of them were interested enough based on the idea and the rules I had written that they wanted to test it for themselves to see if it was something they might publish. I hope one of them will decide to publish it, although they may still end up going with a different theme than the one connected to my story. - Visual Novel: The notes for our next visual novel kept expanding, as often even when working on something else I get ideas that will be written down. My plan for this year is to focus on our next visual novel and start official production with a team. It is my goal to finally show something of this game I've been cooking up for so long now. As I wrote earlier, a lot of these things took a lot more time and work than anticipated, but maybe this just means that this year might become one that will be filled with a lot of different announcements! sincerely, M. B. Saunders
A new build of AwSW is live. This update brings some small, but important improvements: - Improved language support on save/load screen - Sebastian's conditions should now work as intended - Fixed odd behavior regarding Adine's conditions - Having seen any good ending unlocks a new button on the main menu screen
Before Angels with Scaly Wings, there were Angels with Broken Hearts. Angels with Broken Hearts is a webcomic that explores the lives of many characters from Angels with Scaly Wings, and takes place in three different settings - each drawn by a different artist. For more information, please see: http://angelswithscalywings.com/comics/about/
It's been quite a while since our last update. After a lot of work, this is one of our most significant updates since release and provides a number of additions besides the usual fixes. What has changed? Courtesy of some fan developers who have previously created modding tools for AwSW, we have now also added full Steam Workshop integration for Windows, which means Steam users can now easily download and add mods to the game from the Steam Workshop (and even from inside the game itself)! For details about mods (and how to create one yourself), just head over to the Steam Workshop. If you have a prior version of the mod tools installed, you may encounter an error on launching the game. To prevent and/or fix this, please check out this topic: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/discussions/18446744073709551615/1696043263505274976/?appid=571880 Next, for people who own the Digital Deluxe Edition, we have cleaned up the tags for the soundtrack, which should fix any strange behaviors people experienced when using the soundtrack with various other pieces of software. Additionally, we have also added a higher quality version of the soundtrack in a separate folder. Of course, we also made some changes to the game itself: - An error with the task bar icon not showing up correctly on certain devices has been fixed. - A certain function during a certain scene that was notorious for crashing and severe lag has been changed to be more stable and responsive. - An instance of the wrong character receiving abandoned status after certain decisions has been fixed. - A big number of text errors have been fixed. To celebrate, we've also put the game on its biggest sale yet at 40% off during this week! With the added mod support, newcomers will have more to discover than ever before. For us, this update is our way of thanking you, the fans, for your continued support. We hope you enjoy it!
A year ago, Angels with Scaly Wings was released. I still enjoy finding and reading new reviews of players who just discovered our game, and sometimes I even read older comments and reviews again. So often people talk about how the game or its characters have touched them, and I can only be grateful that I could accomplish this with my work - to create something so new and different, and finding out that there are other people who could genuinely enjoy it so much. I took a very big risk pursuing this idea so unrelentingly - especially when the possibility of being damned into obscurity is very real for indie games nowadays. Was it all worth it? Of course! I know weve been quiet lately, but I dont want you to think that itll stay this way. We have spent 2017 working on a number of different things - maybe too many. Ideally, I wouldve liked to announce something before today, but this only means that 2018 will be a very interesting year for fans of AwSW. In the spirit of transparency, let me tell you about some of the things weve worked on and where they stand now: - Mobile ports: Weve talked about wanting to make mobile ports a few times before. After some delays on the necessary changes to make the game work better on phones, we decided to focus on other, more exciting things. Were still planning to do this when there is a good opportunity for it. - Merchandise: Initially, we thought we would only be able to create basic merchandise like t-shirts and posters, but after we got the opportunity to, we are now pursuing something that I think a lot of people will really like. However, manufacturing custom things of any kind is a long and complicated process - and we definitely want to do this right! Were hoping we can show you something no later than a few more months from now. - Translations: A lot of people have responded to our call for translators to help enable players to play the game who dont speak English. Although were not sure when and which translations will be finished, there is one in particular that I think will help the game to be discovered by a different audience. - Our next AwSW related project is an undertaking Ive been working for a few months now. Its not quite on the same scale as AwSW and much more linear (its not even a game), but it will tell some very necessary stories about its characters. The writing for this project is about 90% done and its what occupies most of my time right now. - Our next visual novel. This is what I was working on for the majority of 2017. When I made AwSW, we produced the game on a chapter to chapter basis. This meant that although many things were already planned out when we initially released its demo, we didnt have a detailed script for all the character sections, dialogue, choices and endings. For this project, I wanted to have everything planned out in more detail before I brought other people on board who would create character designs, sprites, cgs and so on. The advantage of this is that wed have a much better idea of what we need and the associated costs - and a more coherent, better overall game. However, this also means a very long waiting time until wed finally be ready to show something. After working on something with this size and complexity again for a while, I had the idea of doing something a little different to fill the gap. I ended up starting the above project, because a lot of things and ideas aligned in such a way that I realized it was the perfect vehicle to tell certain stories I wanted to tell before truly moving onto the next big project. It will be resumed once my part for the above project is finished, and I currently have about >120.000 words in notes about characters, storyline, etc. With all these coming up, I think youll have a lot to look forward to! sincerely, M. B. Saunders

Courtesy of Gamepedia, the official Angels with Scaly Wings wiki can now be found at http://angelswithscalywings.gamepedia.com/ For people who like to delve into the lore, as an archive of information and for gameplay guides, we intend this to be a focal point for all kinds of Angels with Scaly Wings information. It is still a little bare right now, but we hope you will join us to make this a good compendium for older and newer players alike! Who knows, maybe some prior unrevealed nuggets of information may even be added by yours truly. If you already have experience editing a wiki, that's even better! If you'd like to get started, we posted a to-do list on the talk page of the main site. Be advised that for now we've disallowed anonymous edits for the most part, so you'll need to make a twitch or Gamepedia account (if you don't already have one). I hope to see you there!

We are honored to have been part of IndieCade 2017 as part of their Official Selection.
Its the first official recognition we have received from the gaming industry at large.
With more and more games coming out every year, being noticed is one of the biggest challenges indie creators face nowadays - so being deemed worthy in this way is a moment well remember.
Hopefully it wont be the last!

It's been a while since the last patch, so we figured we'd release an update to fix a number of small issues that have accumulated over the last few months. Here's what we did: - Sebastian will now respond appropriately for extraordinary results when playing Bastion Breach. - Fixed an error that caused the player to never be able to talk about Remy's pictures when looking at them during his second scene. - Numerous minor text fixes.

When I heard people were interested in making mods for our game, I was intrigued. I'm glad to have created something with such a dedicated fan community. There already exist a handful of mods, and a fan-created framework to facilitate the usage of mods in our game. I certainly want to support these fan efforts, and for that reason we have now launched the Steam Workshop for Angels with Scaly Wings. It not only offers the necessary infrastructure for the storage and download of mods, but more importantly, it provides a centralized and "official" gathering place for all things related to modding Angels with Scaly Wings. It can be accessed from the game's community hub on Steam. It also has a discussion board for asking questions, suggestions, or potentially finding a team to create your own mod! For more information about mods and the Steam Workshop, you can look at the topic we have created here: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/discussions/18446744073709551615/1368380934242630855/?appid=571880
Summer Sale
We are celebrating the occasion by including Angels with Scaly Wings in Steam's Summer Sale, which will run until July 5, 2017 at 10:05am Pacific time.
First of all, thanks to the many people who have contacted me in the past and offered help with translating Angels with Scaly Wings! We'd love to translate Angels with Scaly Wings into as many languages as possible and thus make it available for as many people as possible, but with a game of this scope, we unfortunately can't afford to do this professionally for all the different languages. After the many offers we have received from fans about translating the game, we decided to make this a bit more official – and I want to support these endeavors and make this as easy for you as possible. For this reason, I have now created a Steam group that will serve as a hub for all fan-translation efforts. If you are interested in contributing, send me a message for more details!
Patch 1.05 is now live and should download automatically! This should be the last patch for a while as we've now brought the game up to a standard that we're pretty happy with. Should any new issues arise, these will of course be patched, but we've reached a point where we think we've fixed all outstanding issues. What did we do this time? - numerous minor text improvements - fix for achievement sync implemented Our tests with this patch lead us to believe that we have finally found a working fix for the achievement sync problem. Of course, with a greater number of players we can't foresee if this will work for everyone, but this time we are confident that it should. Of course, should you still have any issues with this (or any part in the game), please let us know!
Patch 1.04 is now live and should download automatically! What did we do this time? - fixed a number of minor text errors. - fixed two Sebastian sprites that had some issues. - fixed Remy showing up in Anna's third scene when he shouldn't. - fixed Lorem's 4th scene.
Angels with Scaly Wings – Ultimate Romance Edition is a new and updated version to the acclaimed visual novel Angels with Scaly Wings. With art by popular dragon artists such as Marse and Tolo the Thief, this new version (also available as DLC for existing owners) will feature an additional scene for each main character route focusing entirely on romance - with 5 new CGs per scene that display the action in never before seen detail! Features: - An alternate outfit for each main character during their new romance scenes. See Remy after his big make-over after he read about human beauty standards – this time he's going much further than just using lipstick! - A new secondary character route for an existing character. Visit a "Dragon Dance Club" where you will find an unexpected acquaintance as a performer. - Tactical wine bottle censorship for those who are only interested in learning about the added depth of the characters figuratively. We are also proud to announce our partnership with popular toy manufacturer Evil Drake. With official merchandise to be released by the end of the year, you will be able to delve deeper into the dragons' caves than ever before!
Patch 1.03 is live now and should download automatically. Here's what we did: - Various small fixes. - Added a song to the soundtrack. - Fixed Steam achievements support. People who have had prior issues with Steam achievements syncing should get missing Steam achievements upon starting the game and/or starting a new playthrough (with the START button in the main menu). Should this not work for whatever reason, we have found installing Steam and the game on a different computer should solve the issue of the syncing not working properly.
Patch 1.01 is live now and should download automatically. Here's what we did: - Fixed an error that prevented some people from starting the game. - Fixed a typo. - Added Steam achievements. To synchronize your in-game achievements with Steam, just start a new playthrough and all the achievements you have unlocked so far should also activate on Steam.
Our patch to prepare the game for wider release on launch day is live now and should download automatically. Here's what we did: - Fixed a some text errors like typos, wrong speakers and errors related to variables in texts. - Fixed some incorrect conditionals regarding characters that could lead to odd behavior. - Corrected soundtrack track listing. - Fixed support for Steam achievements. Expect all in-game achievements to be added to Steam as well at some point within the next few days. In rare cases, individual existing save files may be affected by these changes in a way that causes odd behavior. Using an earlier save file or rewinding may be necessary to continue. In any case, starting a new playthrough should work without issue.
