Hello everybody! My name is Carol and I’m the creator of Green Mirror, its director, writer and artist (among other things too! :P). As I mentioned in my las update, I think it will be quite positive to try to explain how this game has evolved since it was created, almost four years ago. It all started as a project between a “friend” and I. The game’s story was completely different but it still was a point and click horror adventure in which we were working for a year… At least, I was, because my partner abandoned the game soon after that time lapse. I joined forces with a small company that decided to try to adopt the project but, to avoid legal issues with my former partner, they asked me to create a new game from scratch, but adding, at the same time, some restrictions. The game had to be short to develop and would be used as a test to create larger games of the same style in the future. I complied in a record time because I wanted to start working asap and it all started well. I was able to create most of the assets quite fast and they decided to launch the greenlight campaign (Although, in my opinion, it was too soon) to try to gain some visibility because, as they thought, the game wouldn’t take many time to develop. They were wrong. After another year, they abandoned the project because, being working in another title, they were only able to create the intro scene. I found myself with the game already ready to be in Steam’s store, but without no programming done… We were a really small indie team; we couldn’t create hype with a humble game like ours and expect people to wait for years to try it as the big companies do…. But, with most of the art done, I still was stubborn enough to continue trying. With most of the art assets finished, I joined forces with some good friends that tried to help with the game…. And they really did!! In one year, the game was in pre alpha state, we had a small demo and some people asked us to try it. But then… when it was time to start working in details, bug squashing and improving the player’s experience… they abandoned the game too. I must admit I felt terrible at the time, but was so close to finish that I didn’t want to give up, so I turned to reddit to find some crazy new partners to try to finally finish the game. And there I found GlumpyFish, a pair of awesome guys that decided to go on with the game’s creation. The last problem we encountered was our inability to use the code we already had, done in Unity, so we decided to use Godot and start from scratch. And that’s were Green Mirror’s latest adventure started. With only the programming remaining to finish the game, GlumpyFish started working in it as hard and fast as they can and, if everything goes as planned, we will release it this year. I’m not trying to give you, the players, excuses, I just wanted to share with you this information so you don’t think that we are neglecting the game. We have our everyday lives and jobs and, whenever we find some free time, we try to make Green Mirror a worthy experience. I really hope that, somehow, we manage to impress you when you play it, because, believe it or not, we’re trying to give the best of us and we're determined to, at least publish it. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this small bible I just wrote and for keep following our progress! :)
