A couple of demo players reported having problems joining servers. We just rolled out a small patch, which hopefully fixed the error. Please let us know, if you are still experiencing issues.

We pushed all the changes that were being made on dev branch to public branch. Some additions are still incomplete, but being worked on and improved over the coming months. [previewyoutube=v6Fakz0k_ME;full][/previewyoutube] The new patch includes: - Turning based on mouse rotation - Head turning - Character acceleration - Sleeping (Press H to rest and then J to sleep; J and H to stand up) - Footstep sound improvements - Basic playable aquatics (predators and prey) - Location updates (Aran Desert & Sanctuary) - New herbivore food indicator - Performance improvements, etc. We hope you enjoy the update! - ATP Dev Team

Hello everyone! Head turning has been added to the beta branch "development" and is awaiting testing. We also fixed some minor issues which got introduced with the last patch and did some small performance improvements. We are aware of the bugs that let you move and partially attack during resting and sleeping. These are issues, which can only be fixed through an engine update, which will happen at a later point in time. Here is a short video of the new additions and changes that have been made with the last patches. [previewyoutube=v6Fakz0k_ME;full][/previewyoutube] - ATP Dev Team

Aquatic animals are available for testing on development (beta) branch! New animals: - Mosasaurus - Ophthalmosaurus - Leedsichthys - Dunkleosteus - Helicoprion - Mawsonia - Coelacanth - Doryaspis - Drepanaspis They are still heavily being worked on, but playable. Hunger and thirst are disabled for aquatic creatures. Hunger will be enabled as soon as underwater eating is implemented. Some sounds will get a rework, especially attack sounds.

There have been a couple of posts asking about dedicated servers. We are dealing with a couple of problems in our code, since our old programmer Deathlyrage abandoned the project, who basically coded the entire game. That includes issues with hosting dedicated servers. We tried to host a few servers through Pingperfect and our internal server host, but the issue remains. Until this problem is solved, players will have to host their own listen servers (make sure you meet the minimum requirements ant have a good internet connection). The amount of programming issues we are dealing with at the moment are preventing us from releasing new patches. Once the majority got sorted out, we will release a larger patch that also includes all other changes such as new map locations, new dinosaurs and potentially an early version of the ecosystem mode. The ecosystem mode is being worked on by our new programmer, but the multiplayer part of the game will have to be worked on by someone else, who has more experience in multiplayer programming. Also we recommend looking at our Twitter or Discord for changes, not the steam forums or news. Sorry for the silence, but we assure you, the game is still being worked on. We are just making less progress than we would like to at the moment.

We moved the current build from development branch to public branch. A lot of changes have been made since the last time we patched this version. A large portion of the changelog got lost due to logistical changes, which unfortunately cost us months of development time. We are aware of some issues regardling replication and dedicated servers not working right now, however we are working on them and will let you know when they are fixed. Also as we stated in several posts before, the new builds don't support Linux and Mac anymore. However your game will work on Windows or you can switch to the beta Branch Linux/Mac, which contains a copy of the last version of the game. We are slowly getting back on track. Thanks to the people, who have never given up on us.

.....................................................................
Dev Branch has been added and made public, but we recommend staying on public branch, if you don't want to experience unstable builds or game breaking bugs. We would still like to see a few more people with low end Windows PC's try out the newest updates, to see how much performance has improved.
Important: The newest updates on dev branch only work on Windows 64-bit. If you bought the game on Mac or Linux, you can still play your copy on a Windows PC though.
We decided to discontinue Linux and Mac builds FOR NOW and pick them back up once we get closer to full release or fully released the game.
How to switch to dev branch?
Right-click ATP in your steam library > Properties > Betas > select "development". No password needed.
If you are interested in Realism (dev branch), go check out the Realism (Listen) Server of one of our mods.

Hello everyone!
It has been a while. Unfortunately a lot of real life stuff got in the way, so the work on ATP had to be delayed by a couple of more months, but we are slowly getting back.
We are currently working on a development branch (beta branch) server that will be open to everyone, since we have to change our workflow due to changes in the dev team.
This has a positive and negative side to it. The positive aspect is, everyone can check out the progress directly without waiting for the next patch on the stable branch. The downside is, you will experience several small and larger patches, more server restarts and broken mechanics. Hence the title "development branch".
If you don't mind running into bugs, feel free to opt into dev branch once the server is up. If you want to keep your gaming experience as bug free as possible, we recommend staying on the stable version.
We don't have a set date yet, when the server will go live, but we will let you know as soon as we got everything sorted out.
- Levia

The old servers are currently offline and we are waiting for approval from the new host. Unfortunately, due to the holidays, service is a bit slow at the moment, so we don't know when the new servers will be up, but you are still able to host listen servers. Just don't forget to port forward! We will be back as soon as possible!

Hello everyone, Levia here! It's only the beginning of December and most teams post a summary, statement or whatever you want to call it, at the end of the month, but I believe it's always better to do something sooner than later and most of us will probably be busy fighting the Christmas food coma instead of spending their holidays reading Facebook posts. ;) Some of you might remember Archotek starting out as a business tycoon (not a park tycoon, as many people believed), where you had to "create" and sell animals based on your customers needs, e.g. with specific skins, stats, etc. In summer 2016 the idea behind the game changed and turned it into the ecosystem management simulator, that we are still holding onto. A few players asked, if it the ecosystem mode will be based on different time periods. The short answer: We are not against the idea, but we don't have the financial resources to do that. A good amount of work has already been put into the creation of the dinosaur models, when the concept changed and we believe, we can have a working ecosystem even if we have different animals from different periods in the same place. Option B would have been scrapping some of the models and sticking to one time period, but we love our animals even if they are only a bunch of polygons & textures and even caused us headaches in some cases (Damn you, Galli!), which is also the reason, why the "Be the Dinosaur" mode exists - They deserve more attention than just being watched through a top down camera. We are aware, that there have been a lot of debates, when Archotek launched on Steam with only the BtD mode and there have been players, devs and content creators trying to manipulate this project simply because of that (and there still are) and some even went so far, that they tried to destroy my personal life and the life of former team members. Beast of Bermuda is currently undergoing the same "treatment". However, ATP wouldn't exist anymore, if it wasn't for this decision. It is known, that the dinosaur community is - unfortunately - incredibly toxic. We are not exactly sure why, but the reasons are not really relevant. We do understand, that some people go through hard times and can't always be happy or simply positive, but there is a line that has been crossed many, many times, which forced us to be rather strict when it comes to excluding people from our community. I personally think everyone deserves a chance, but there have been individuals, who set a world record at crossing this line. I am not sure if these actions have left a negative impression on the game or team in any way, but we had to do what was necessary to avoid more drama and damage. The year 2017 has been filled with struggle, worrying, calculations and lots and lots of work. I often spent 24-33 hours straight working on Archotek, feeling incredibly exhausted during the few days I took off from work. In August I picked up a second job in town (for those, who don't know: I work as full-time dev & artist) to keep myself and ATP financially stable. We still had to slow down the dev process. Our animator works on Prehistoric Kingdom and is currently going through his final year at Uni and I am surprised, he hasn't shot me yet for the amount of times I had to bug him to do work on ATP. A lot of friendships, relationships and connections suffered this year just to prevent ATP from dying. One or two people mentioned Kickstarter as "solution", but I personally do not believe we would have reached the required goal, alone for the reason that I took over the project in December and there are people out there, who do almost everything to see me or the project fail. Besides that, statistics show, that Kickstarter is not really that helpful anymore as it used to be a few years back. We will still give it a try though, when our next project (Draconia) is developed enough to be shown there, since the interest in that project is way higher. What is our plan for the coming year? As I mentioned in one of the last posts, we have a new programmer, who will hopefully stay with us during the entire year and improve the game significantly (a lot of things/mechanics had to be rushed and are just super clunky). Especially the aquatics will need extra treatment, since I absolutely hate the current controls. haha I will undergo a larger change in my life to have more money that I can throw into the ATP pot. It still won't be easy, but it's a step in the right direction. Players also keep asking for flyers and specific animals. We really would like to have all these requested things in-game, but we all have bills to pay and still need to work on the promised content like the Ecosystem. However, if one or several people decide to throw some money together to have something added to the game, they can contact me privately about that on Discord/here on Facebook. Like I said, it's not like we don't want these things. And of course our main plan is not to give up. It's not an option. Never will be! No matter what life throws at us! 2018 will still be filled with a lot of grinding, but I am positive! Now back to the part about creating a working ecosystem: We did some work on the Tiers & Points for eco mode. The document I linked below is still heavily work in progress. We would still appreciate some feedback: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_vvVpoQAv_m3w7HccHGzFIkFaa5tXyhWaf4aYyqa6Ng/edit?usp=sharing Congrats, you made it to the end of this post! :) Thanks for taking the time to read it. - Levia

The next patch will be delayed by a couple of days, since we have to fix a bunch of bugs that sneaked in with the addition of the aquatics. So the Halloween event will last a few days longer than planned.
The aquatics update will feature the following playable animals:
Mosasaurus
Dunkleosteus
Helicoprion
Leedsichthys
Rhizodus
Ophthalmosaurus
We also have Mawsonia, Coelacanth, Doryaspis and Drepanaspis in the making, but we haven't decided yet, if we will make these playable or not. All of these wouldn't really have any attacks and Doryaspis & Drepanaspis are very small (the size of Archaeopteryx and tinier) and would be hard to spot underwater, which makes them rather pure AI candidates, which appear in swarms rather than solo.
Once the aquatics update is out, we will continue to work on the ecosystem mode, which means it will be our main focus in the coming updates and the addition of new species will slow down, maybe even be delayed until post full release of the game, since we currently have enough animals for the ecosystem management part.
We know, that some of you are excited to see new animals, but we feel that adding new dinosaurs to the game, in it's current state, slows our actual progress down and just delays the release of the main part of the game.
If you have any questions, feel free to join our Discord, where you can also find a few aquatic update sneak peeks: https://discord.gg/VsEhawK
Also we are aware of the server issues and are still trying to resolve the problem. Until then let us know, if you get a timeout message and we will restart them asap. (Note: You can't join the Test Server on the public branch!)
We hope you have a happy Halloween!

Many players got an error, saying they got banned from the server, when they tried to connect to one. Don't worry, you did not get banned! :) We restarted the servers to resolve this problem. You should now be able to connect again. If you are still getting the error, make sure your game version matches the server version. If you are on the public branch and are trying to connect to the "Test Server", you will still get this error, since it's a devbranch server. If you want to play on the public servers, make sure your Beta branch is set to "none". Sorry for the connection issues. We are trying to fix this asap. Also the next patch will be ready soon, so stay tuned!

We had some issues, where players weren't able to connect to any of the servers and got a timeout error instead. The servers are back up now and functional. We will look into a solution to prevent this problem from happening again. Until then, we ask you to message us asap, if that error occurs again. Furthermore the new patch, including Brachi, Camara and a bunch of other things, should be ready soon as well. Sorry for the delay. We hope you had a great weekend!
