Today's update fixes a small bug where an experimental third-party leaderboard upload icon was shown even when you weren't uploading to an experimental third-party leaderboard.
Today's update fixes a bug where the cursor was misaligned in fullscreen mode on notched MacBooks, although the issue seems to persist when the game is running in a window. I'm still looking into that part. This update also fixes a bug where pivoting the same atom in two different directions with two different grabbers was somehow not considered an error. I'm shocked we didn't fix this sooner!
Boot up your Z5 Powerlance and dial into Last Call BBS, the last game from Zachtronics! The Barkeeps loaded up his retro computer with a full set of puzzle games for you to download and play. Today's update fixes some obscure validation issues that could be exploited to prevent collisions.
Today's update adds a Czech fan translation by someone named Mike. Thanks for your hard work! If you have any feedback about the translation (or anything else, really) you can send me an email (zach@zachtronics.com) and we'll get to the bottom of it.
Today's update adds a Portuguese fan translation by Yuri Nikolai Martinez Laskowski. Thanks for your hard work! If you have any feedback about the translation (or anything else, really) you can send me an email (zach@zachtronics.com) and we'll get to the bottom of it.
Today's update includes some minor fixes to solution validation logic. Unless you're hanging out on the unofficial Zachtronics Discord server and know what to look for you shouldn't see anything different in the game.
Today's update includes some small fixes to the Korean translation.
Opus Magnum ! Opus Magnum is now available in Ukrainian! Thanks to RDSk, with help from Cedmil, soitin, and the Ukrainian localizations Discord server.
Opus Magnum artk Trke! Opus Magnum is now available in Turkish! Today's update adds a Turkish fan translation by Volkan Gezer. Thanks for your hard work! If you have any feedback about the translation (or anything else, really) you can send me an email (zach@zachtronics.com) and we'll get to the bottom of it.
Today's update adds two power-user features, which are mostly hidden for now: 1. Pressing F10 while editing a solution will reload it from disk. This will only be useful to players who are using an external program to edit their solutions, who previously had to restart the game to see their changes show up. 2. Pressing F10 while the GIF recorder is open will switch it into advanced mode, which allows you to manually override when recording starts and stops. If you hit F10 after the solution finishes recording it will default to the automatically detected start and stop frames. If you hit F10 before the solution finishes recording it will cancel recording immediately but require you to set the start and stop values yourself. If you have any deep thoughts about these changes you should email me (zach@zachtronics.com) and let me know what you think!
Today's update adds a Korean fan translation by Kan_Pungki. Thanks for your hard work! If you have any feedback about the translation (or anything else, really) you can send me an email (zach@zachtronics.com) and we'll get to the bottom of it.

Today's update adds a hidden setting that causes alt-click to be interpreted as a right-click. It is off by default.
Today's update adds an experimental numpad-based keyboard layout for players who use their left hand to hold their mouse.
Opus Magnum ya est disponible en espaol! Por favor enveme un correo electrnico (zach@zachtronics.com) si tiene algn comentario o ve algn error.
Today's update improves some error messages for when the game crashes.
Today's update contains a small change to the custom puzzle file format. Nothing to see here, move along...
Today's update adds a third (and presumably final) user-created journal issue that includes two production puzzles. Thanks to everyone who helped out putting these together!
Today's update adds another user-compiled journal issue with five new puzzles designed to challenge your optimization skills.
Today's update adds a new journal issue that was assembled with help from the unofficial Zachtronics Discord server. Thanks everyone! It also includes a small change to add scores to GIF filenames, and a small fix for a bug where histograms wouldn't be shown if you were subscribed to too many Workshop puzzles.
Tonight's update switches the game's audio subsystem on Windows from WASAPI to DirectSound. This should fix the previous surround sound bugs for all users without anyone needing to turn on a hidden setting, and should also fix some scenarios where the game did not respond to changes in audio devices while running.
We're shutting down the Zachtronics store today, so this update removes the link at the end of the game to where you could buy an iron-on achievement patch. If you narrowly missed this you can email me at zach@zachtronics.com and we'll work something out.
Today's update adds a new journal issue that is entirely production puzzles. This is partially an experiment to see how interesting user-created production puzzles are, as four of the five puzzles are standard user-created puzzles that I've jammed into production cabinets that look like they're about the right size. If you end up playing these puzzles you should post your comments somewhere that I'll see them!
Today's update adds a hidden option that will hopefully fix some of the sound issues that were introduced when we rewrote our audio backend a few weeks ago. If you're experiencing static, skipping, or other sound issues when using a surround sound audio device, please follow these instructions: [olist]
We pushed an update yesterday afternoon that added a new issue to the journal with some "battlefield medicine" themed puzzles. We also made the following minor bug fixes:
Opus Magnum has left Early Access! In the coming weeks we'll continue fixing bugs as they arise, and are hoping to add at least one or two additional journal issues. Our thanks go out to everyone who provided feedback, suggestions, and puzzle submissions throughout the Early Access process; it's always appreciated, and always makes our games better.

Today's update replaces our old audio engine with a completely new one. Most players shouldn't see any change, but this should hopefully fix a crash specific to players using the Chinese IME in Windows. Also included in this update are two small bug fixes:
Tonight's update fixes a few translation issues in German and Chinese, and even a crash (!) when opening the Aether Detector puzzle with the language set to Chinese. It also includes a small performance improvement for rendering, although I don't suspect it'll make much of a difference for anyone.
Today's update adds translations for all text added since Opus Magnum first launched into Early Access, including the story for the production puzzles that were recently added to the end of the main campaign. If you see any translation errors you should let us know!
Today's update fixes a bug introduced yesterday where GIFs of repeating products would tend not to loop seamlessly because of the simulation not running long enough before starting to record.
Tonight's update is a complete overhaul of how repeating products are detected, so that you must always build 6 "repetition units", where one repetition unit is shown in the products tray to the left. The requirement that you build the "bonds to the right" has been removed, although you may need to build extra product if your repetition units don't align with the repetition units in the puzzle definition. In general this change should improve your cycle scores on repeating product puzzle across the board, but it's possible that some old top scores are no longer possible, requiring them to be purged from the histograms and/or leaderboards. We'll see. If you're a repeating product expert, please throw your solutions at the new implementation and let me know if you see anything weird. The best way to do this is to email me directly (zach@zachtronics.com) and attach any supporting puzzles and/or solutions that illustrate what you're seeing. It's also possible that this change allows invalid products to register as valid, so if you see any of those please let me know! Also, and totally unrelated, this update also changes the fast-forward key from Alt to 3 on Linux, because apparently Linux users can't click on things while holding the Alt key.
Today's update includes the following changes:
Today's update fixes an obscure crash with tracks that tended to crop up on the "special amaro" puzzle. It also adds support for QWERTZ keyboards, which it turns out are almost identical to QWERTY keyboards except for the part where they're not.
Tonight's update fixes a bug where conduits could be deleted by dragging them out of the build area. It also includes a change that will import solutions for the old version of the lead separation puzzle into the new version, although you'll almost certainly need to modify your solution for it to work again.
Today's update adds a new mini-campaign to the end of the game that introduces "production alchemy", where solutions must be built inside the confined spaces of production-grade transmutation engines. In addition to 11 new puzzles, you'll also find a little bit of story that further explores the world of Opus Magnum. Other improvements include:
Today's update is a grab bag of changes without anything resembling a unifying theme, other than that we're getting close to wrapping up Early Access:
Today's update includes the following:
We've got a big update today, with two key things: 1. We've added a new element, quintessence, along with two glyphs that use it. There's a new journal issue to introduce the mechanics, along with a new variant for Sigmar's Garden that includes the new element! 2. We've reset all leaderboards and histograms for the game. To make resubmitting your scores quick and easy we've also added a button to the options screen to reverify your solutions at high-speed. The full changes include:
Today's update adds a single feature: the ability to control-click (command-click on Mac) on an instruction while a solution is running to quickly advance to that instruction and pause. If you're one of those people working on 500+ cycle solutions you should try it out and let us know what you think.
Today's update includes the following changes:
Today's update adds a third issue to the Journal of Alchemical Engineering, focusing on the industrial innovations of House Colvan. Other changes include:
Tonight's update removes the restrictions on non-looping solutions that were added in the past two days. It's possible that we'll try something else in this area, but for now it's back to what it used to be!
Today's update changes the non-looping solution detection introduced yesterday to be simpler and hopefully more reliable. We're aware of how preventing non-looping solutions from being accepted breaks how some players were doing one-time initialization, and hope that we can find a way to add proper support for one-time initialization that doesn't make things confusing for new players or add other unwanted side effects. As always, feel free to email me (zach@zachtronics.com) if you have any thoughts or suggestions about how such a feature could or should work. Today's update also includes some smaller fixes:
Today's update contains two fixes that will essentially invalidate the current scores in the leaderboards and histograms: 1. The cost of the piston arm has been increased from 30G to 40G. 2. Solutions that loop fewer than two full times before producing all outputs will now trigger an additional "verification check" to verify your solution can loop without breaking. Cycle and area scores should not be affected. If you see anything that looks like a bug in the scoring system, please email us (zach@zachtronics.com) so that we can investigate it right away. I'm hoping to reset all histograms and leaderboards in the next few days, and hoping to not have to do it again after that. ALSO: I recognize the irony in how we just implemented a fast-forward feature that is completely unusable to the high-instruction-count optimizers who want it most. We are working a solution for this and hope to have it out soon!
Today's update fixes some typos in the controls menu and removes a weird character from GIF filenames when the language is set to Japanese or Chinese.
Today's update includes the following changes and fixes:
Nothing exciting in this update, just a small tweak to the Sigmar's Garden music and the way that we name puzzles in the journal, which no longer contain the author's name as part of the puzzle name.
Today's update includes a new issue of the Journal of Alchemical Engineering: Volume XCIX, Issue II: Important Developments in Seafaring It also adds a long requested feature called "global records", which you can enable in the game's options after completing the main campaign. When global records are enabled you will see the best known score at the top of leaderboards for campaign and journal puzzles. Please note that not all puzzles will immediately have global records, and if you beat a global record for a puzzle it will not immediately update. Other changes in this update include:
Apparently we had a DirectX counterpart issue on Windows too. Both should be fixed now!
This update fixes a launch crash on Mac and Linux introduced in the build from earlier today, caused by an OpenGL-specific shader issue. If you restart Steam it will force this update to be downloaded right away.
Today's update adds "hermit mode", in addition to some other small fixes:
Some small bug fixes for today, including one that Sigmar's Garden fans will hopefully enjoy:
Today's update consists mostly of small bug fixes:
