Major gameplay changes!

We spent some time this week on improving the core gameplay and improving the general feel of the game. Previously people were able to burn through all the content and capture every island within just a few hours of gameplay. One of the most notable changes is that stats no longer reset when you arrive on an island. The pacing of the game is much better and it is very apparent after playing for a few minutes. You no longer are forced into the crew feeding menu every now and again. Instead you get to choose when you feed them.

New UI changes on the way!

Thirteen (Daniel) is working on creating the new UI for Don't Sink. Currently the GUI looks like it was glued together by some programmer... cough cough

Quest, Fur Butt

Man of War vessel to be added to some islands, Gazpacho, Frigidov, and Mairyporan
Tavern allows you to feed your crew
Shipyard allows you to repair your ship
Made crew feeding a player action instead of an event
Crew/ship stats no longer reset between trips

Minor changes

Tooltip screen for boarding combat (similar to ship combat)
Game saves on transaction (buying/selling)
Closing the pause menu will save and apply audio/video settings
Travel tooltip reminding the player to feed their crew

Bug fixes and performance improvements

Population setting (game restart) sometimes caused crash
Delivery quest should point to a new island after delivery instead of pointing to the previous island
Boarding music played at full volume regardless of music volume setting
Town music sometimes played when quitting to main menu

Explore a massive world with unique islands and landscapes. Discuss rumors and discover the origins of each island by talking to the people that live there
Expect the unexpected when at sea. Events you may be unprepared for may occur such as a foodborne illness among your crew. You'll need to have access to the right supplies and have the experience to keep your ship afloat
A casual but real challenge - While simple to pickup and understand, there are numerous events that only an experienced swashbuckler will be prepared for. This makes the game more satisfying for long term pirates
Thoughtfully executed cutscenes that help to bring the world to life as well as reward pirates that explore

Sailing between islands is necessary to expand your control over the world and to increase your reputation
Tending to the morale, hunger, and thirst of your crew will require you to maintain a supply of food/water and consider whether or not rationing food is required during long journeys
Governing islands you've conquered is a difficult responsibility as you will need to solve economic issues before they get out of hand
Purchase larger ships as you fight your way through the sea. Famously powerful vessels such as the Galleon and Man of War are but a few of the available ships
