Update 0.65.0 Available! New item powers, tons of balance changes, QoL changes, bug fixes, and more!

Hey guys! Thanks for all the feedback and bug reports! This update is heavily based on that, and as such it mostly concerns balance changes to both items and skills, and tons of fixes and quality of life changes. There are also 15 new item powers added to Unique and Legendary items! Some of these are completely new, and others are reworked to be more useful and interesting, such as the Jeopardy ring. With all this in mind, this is a pretty big update, and as per usual that means increased likelyhood that bugs slipped through my testing. However, I did fix a ton of issues - even some of the more elusive crashes, so I'm hoping for a more stable experience for everyone. Please let me know about any bug or crash that you experience! The more info the easier it is to locate and fix. Sadly the Windows 10 issues with black/white screens persist, as there has as of yet not been an update to the GameMaker engine. If you have any of these issues, please consult the Troubleshooting thread for temporary workarounds. Hopefully there will be an update soon so we can take care of this for good :) I will monitor the forums and dedicate the next few days for hotfixing, should it be necessary, so we all can enjoy this solstice weekend! After any potential issues have been resolved, I will continue work with Act 4. It's gonna be a good one! Anyway - that's all for now. I hope you enjoy the update! Full patch notes:

Anomalies:
  • Shortened the boss spawn animation
  • Added a Gem & Sockets vendor to Tinka's Domain
  • Challenge scrolls can now drop in Anomalies
  • Updated the sprites of several Anomaly bosses
  • Pyre:
    • Updated sprite & animations, changed active skills
  • Venom, Deathchill:
    • Updated sprite & animations
Areas:
  • Deepwood + Rosewood + Eastern Wall:
    • Adjusted generation algorithm to prevent from building outside of minimap bounds, and made the area somewhat smaller
  • Castle Lower Levels + The Catacombs:
    • Reduced monster spawn density somewhat, but increased the chance of Elite pack spawns
Bosses:
  • The High Priest:
    • Now has a much shorter range and will stay in view
  • Mundus:
    • Updated with new sprites and animations
Character & Progression:
  • Base pickup radius increased to 4 meters, up from 3
  • Enchanting and Gem vendors are now account wide, so you only have to unlock them once
  • Killstreak xp gains are now based on how much xp the individual monsters killed are worth, multiplied by a difficulty modifier, scaling logarithmically with the size of the streak (thanks Arkatar for the help!)
  • Slightly increased base damage growth for melee characters - should mostly be noticable on low to mid levels, and neglible in end-game
Controls:
  • Using the left stick to aim with controllers no longer disables aiming with the right stick
  • Using click to move and using the "force move" button (default is spacebar) does no longer attack monsters, and will only force movement
Difficulty:
  • Adjusted drop rates to be more on par with actual difficulty
  • Upon reaching Mythical difficulty, enemeis will now start stacking resistances
Gems:
  • You now need 5x of each gem to upgrade them
  • Tweaked drop rates further:
    • Chests now always drop at least one gem
    • Champions are now guaranteed to drop at least one gem
    • Elites have a ~25% chance to drop a gem
    • Slightly lowered gem drop rate off regular monsters
    • Polished Gems no longer drop, and instead have to be obtained through upgrading
  • Updated gem stats:
    • Star Larimar:
      • Armor: Now adds 3/4/5% Evasion, down from 3/5/7%
Interface:
  • General:
    • Added a "Shrines Activated" counter to the statistics page
    • Companions now have green healthbars, and healthbar visiblity improved in general
    • If you can't afford a resurrect, the cost will now be displayed in red
  • Inventory & Vendor:
    • Quick-sell buttons now sell all equipment up to the rarity clicked, so clicking to sell all Rare will also sell all Ordinary and Enchanted
    • You can now Ctrl+click (or left trigger + (A)) to gamble 10 items at once
    • Item card outlines are now in the rarity color
    • Stats in the inventory pages are now converted to short numbers if they take too much space, ie is over 100k
    • Added a button to go backwards in the inventory stat pages
  • Enchanting:
    • You can now hold Ctrl or Left Trigger to fully Augment an enchant instantly
    • Holding the mouse cursor over an enchant efter having clicked Re-roll or Augment now shows the cost of doing so
  • Gemming:
    • You can now hold Ctrl or Left Trigger to upgrade all gems, instead of one at a time
  • Minimap:
    • Icons can now be scaled individually from the options menu
Items:
  • The base stats of items have a higher chance to roll higher values on higher difficulty & anomaly rank
  • Slightly increased the max base stat rolls of True Legendary items
  • Quest rewards and monster specific unique items can now roll sockets upon drop
  • Jeopardy:
    • Re-designed effect to be more interesting. Retroactive change - it'll apply to already existing copies of this item
  • The following items have been updated with new effects, which means you need to find the new versions of these items to get the effects:

        • 3-piece bonus now deal a minumum of 1 second's worth of damage if the burn has less than 1 second left
    • Warden:
      • Armor of the Wispmother:
        • 3-piece bonus now grants 200% additional damage (up from 100%)
        • 4-piece bonus now grants 3 additional permanent Wisps (instead of proc rate)
        • Wismother's Bow now rolls effect duration instead of mana on hit by default
    • Warlock:
      • Burning Hells:
        • 4-piece bonus now has Flaming Hells duration increased by 6 seconds, down from 10
    Loot:
    • Improved visuals of rare loot so that the different rarities are more distinguishable
    • All items now display sell value on mouseover
    • Weapons now display damage and attackspeed on mouseover
    • Stack sizes increased to 1000 from 100 for potions, keys, etc.
    • Tweaked drop rates of rare crafting materials
    • Loot behind walls can now be shown as a colored dot, enable this in the gameplay options
    • Special items like Ancient Coins now show up properly on the "inspect nearby" feature
    Misc:
    • Added a slight delay to the spawn buttons pop up and added cutscene bars to the death to further emphasize it, and to prevent misclicks
    • Changed some menu button labels
    Monsters:
    • All monsters can now be slowed, but the previously immune monsters are capped at 10% slowed, so that effects depending on slows are properly applied
    • Added a new "Gem Hoarder" affix
    Music:
    • Setting music frequency to anything other than "loop" will now fade out music when changing zones, and start the music slowly after a timer. (rather than always force start it at entry, making it basically loop anyway)
    • Music always fades on changing zones now, rather than cutting abruptly
    • Boss music always starts right away regardless of music frequency setting
    Shrines:
    • Increased chance to get the bad shrine effect for the first time, after which the chance is drastically reduced
    • Removed some shrine effects from shrines inside anomalies
    • Added 4 new shrine effects
    Skills:
    • Note: Mastery scaling has been adjusted to promote more versatility in your builds.
      • This means that, among other things, all passive skills now have caps on their Mastery damage increases, in order to keep their intended role as damage aplification, rather than the main source of it.
      • Active skills remain uncapped.
      • Many Mastery skills now also have a higher cap and higher damage per point, to make some previously inferior builds more evenly balanced.
      • Expect more skill changes, and many new item powers to change things up, in the future!
    • Berserker:
      • Rage Release:
        • Range increased to 3/3.5/4 meters, up from 2.2/2.4/2.6 meters
      • Power Within:
        • Overpower buff reduced to 4/8/12%, down from 5/10/15%
      • Frost Shock (M):
        • Max rank increased to 100, up from 20
      • High Pressure (M):
        • Max rank increased to 50, up from 20
      • Biting Cold (M):
        • Max rank set to 100, and damage per point increased to 5%, up from 3%
      • Fierce Soul (M):
        • Max rank set to 100, and damage per point increased to 5%, up from 3%
      • Tremors (M):
        • Max rank set to 100, and damage per point increased to 5%, up from 3%
      • Total Annihilaiton (M):
        • Max rank set to 100, and damage per point increased to 5%, up from 3%

      • Dancing Blade:
        • Will now interrupt their flailing if their target dies, and find a new target
      • Reprisal:
        • Use effect now increases Thorns% by 90/105/120/135/150%, up from 5/10/15/20/25% - additively with other bonuses
      • Sanctified:
        • Now grants a minimum of 1 Health on Hit per rank. Health on Hit (lvl 100) reduced to 20/30/40, down from 25/40/55
      • Favor:
        • Now grants a minimum of 1 Mana on Hit per rank. Mana on Hit (lvl 100) reduced to 20/30/40, down from 25/40/55
      • Sacred (M):
        • Max rank increased to 100, up from 20, but damage reduced to 5% per rank, down from 10%
      • Empowered Expulsion (M):
        • Max rank increased to 100, up from 20
      • Electrocution (M):

        • Now grants a minimum of +1 mana per rank, as it would not increase on low levels earlier due to the stat growth formula
      • Storm Force:
        • Overpower buff reduced to 4/7/10%, down from 9/12/15%

    Unstable Dimenions:
    • Added some new affixes
    • Adjusted layouts to create less dead ends and removed all disconnected platforms
    Fixes:
    • Fixed some skill spelling errors
    • Fixed holding left trigger to buy 10x on controller also swapping inventory pages
    • Fixed Blood Rite not dealing damage to the Warlock
    • Fixed being able to dupe items in the Gemcutting interface
    • Fixed issue with items having old (useless) enchants, adding a ton of value to items and making steep enchanting costs
    • Fixed backspace erasing 2 letters at a time when naming your character
    • Fixed players using gamepads not being able to equip items from the context menu in multiplayer
    • Fixed players 2-4 not correctly being able to control the gem interface in multiplayer

    Story

    What happens in a world where the last evil lies dead, the last quest is completed, and the last chest has been opened?


    In this world, the long-dead Heroes of Old are forever remembered and honored through a great magical device. This device, known only as the Chronicon, is capable of opening a portal into the memories – the very souls – of the Heroes of Old. Each year, a handful men and women are given the great honor to re-live the old tales.
    And this year, you have been chosen…
