Hey Everyone! Thank you for another great year in the Chronicon community! This year has been very exciting as we announced two new games in the Chronicon universe, and then immediately released one of them! We also welcomed a lot of new members to our Discord, now totaling nearly 4,500 people. Pretty neat! For 2025 we are continuing work on Chronicon: Survivors with more updates, in particular a big update with new weapon mechanics and progression mechanics. C:S is already in a much better state than on launch (which, admittedly, we fumbled), and with the upcoming changes and additions, we think it'll be in a pretty good spot! We're also getting our next game into BETA sometime in the second half of the year. Once that happens, we'll be ready to make some more public posts with screenshots, game name, and such, so keep an eye out for that! We also set up a Chronicon Universe bundle in which all current (and future!) games and related DLC, soundtracks, etc., will go. You can find that here: https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/44000/Chronicon_Universe_Bundle/ That's all for now! Thanks again for another great year of Chronicon - and we'll catch you in the next one. Happy holidays, and a happy new year! - Squarebit & Marruu
Hello everyone! It's been a while. And we've been busy. Today marks the release anniversary of Chronicon 1.0. I can't believe it's been 4 years already! And to celebrate, we're releasing a small game. Right now! As we were making good progress on our next game, we moved out of prototyping and onto creating all the art. And since I (Squarebit) can't draw at all... I found myself with a lot of free time as our team of artists got to work. So I started a little pet project and it turned into... Chronicon: Survivors! To absolutely no one's surprise, I imagine. steammocking It's my personal take on the recent horde survivors trend, with a faster pace as Chronicon players will be accustomed to, and many familiar characters, enemies, and locations. It also gave me a unique opportunity to add things that were scrapped from Chronicon (due to being a bad fit for that game in particular) such as weapon/item/skill ideas, some unused assets, etc. Of course, there is also a bunch of new things, enemies, etc introduced! I partnered up with Mike again and he produced a heavy 13 part soundtrack for the game. So if any of that sounds interesting, you can check it out here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2815610/Chronicon_Survivors/ We've also made a Chronicon Universe Bundle, which is basically everything Chronicon, that lets you grab anything you don't own already with a slight (permanent) discount. We'll be adding any and all future games/dlc/soundtracks we make in the Chronicon universe to this bundle, always giving fans of the game(s) an extra discount. https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/44000/Chronicon_Universe_Bundle/
Hey everyone! It's been a while. We'd like to thank everyone for another great year of Chronicon, and also give you a little hint of what's coming next. We've been working hard with a brand new game, which we'll be announcing properly sometime in the next year. Though for now, we can let you know that it's part of the Chronicon universe, and that it'll be something on a smaller scale than Chronicon. But we hope to make it just as fun! We know a lot of people are excited for the possibility of a sequel, but after 9 years of Chronicon, we really want to do some shorter projects, and try some new things first. After that, however... who knows? steammocking Thanks again for another great year. We want to wish you happy holidays, and a happy new year! Stick around for more news, and we'll see you next year! - Squarebit & Marruu
Hey everyone!
We are finally here. A little over a month ago we reached the end of our Post-Release Roadmap. Since then we have been working on various bugfixes, balance and QoL improvements, and looking at your suggestions - old and new - for things we want in the final version. This update is the last planned update, and with which the game is considered "done". There may be more updates further down the road, with fixes or minor tweaks. But as far as big content updates and DLC goes, we're done!
This has been an incredible journey, which has spanned almost exactly 9 years from first prototype to where we are today! We are very grateful for all the comments, suggestions, bug reports, and support over the years. This community has turned out so great, and we are incredibly happy to have shared this journey with all of you.
Thank you everyone. We hope you will enjoy this update.
...And we hope to see you on our next adventure!
(We'll let you know when it begins!)
Hey everyone! Thanks for the reports & feedback! This update should fix most of the recent issues, and also reflects on some of the recent suggestions & feedback. For the next update, I'm taking another pass at some Mechanist stuff, as well as looking at making some UI improvements based on recent (and some long-time) suggestions. Keep the bug reports, feedback, and suggestions coming! I very much appreciate all your engagement :) Thank you, and have a good weekend! Here are the full notes:
Hey everyone! How are you enjoying The Mechanist? A few issues popped up and this update will take care of some of the more immediate ones, such as the Laser Drone crashing on boss death cutscenes. I am also working on another update to squash the rest of the bugs, and fix some weird skill behavior and such. I also expect to be doing a balance/tweak pass over the next few weeks, so if you have any feedback regarding balance and builds, please let me know! (I would also recommend joining our Discord and theorycraft and bounce ideas with the community! This is also the place where I am most active myself. Here is a link: https://discord.gg/nSKhPEA ) Anyway, I hope you're having a good time! Thank you!
Hey everyone! The Mechanist is now available! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2206120/Chronicon__The_Mechanist/ We hope you will enjoy playing it as much as we did making it. Thank you for your support!
Hey everyone! Another small update as we are prepping to release The Mechanist. Which we will be doing... tomorrow! Thanks for your reports, and please let us know if you find any more issues. Thank you! Here are the full notes:
Hey everyone! Thanks for being patient with us. We have finally got a fix for the launching issue introduced with update 1.50.0! This update runs on a BETA build of the game engine so there may be some unexpected behavior - please let us know if you encounter anything weird. We will be updating another time around the DLC release (still planned for later this month) on a stable engine release, so if there are any weird issues we are expecting to have them resolved by then. Also included in this update is another Shared Stash tab :) Thanks again - we look forward to releasing the Mechanist! Here are the full notes:
Hey everyone! We're launching the Mechanist DLC next month! We planned to do it before christmas but unfortunately we've had some last minute problems with the DLC, and as you may be aware the game itself is a bit finnicky with starting right now. So we're working on that and trying to get all that sorted out before we release The Mechanist. (Launching a DLC during the upcoming Winter Sale is also a pretty bad move if you're a small developer like us). We are sorry about the delays and recent technical problems, and thankful for your patience with us as we figure this out! Meanwhile, consider wishlisting the DLC so you are notified once it's (finally) out: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2206120/Chronicon__The_Mechanist/ We'd also like to thank everyone for another great year in the Chronicon community! Interacting with the community is by far the best part of the job, and we are very happy to have such a great one! What the next year holds for Chronicon is uncertain, though we are looking to start something new... it won't be Chronicon 2 - but it might just be related to Chronicon... so stay tuned for more news on that, in the next year. See you in 2023!
Hey everyone! There was an issue in the previous update which made it so the game sometimes wouldn't launch - this issue should now be fixed. Please let us know if you're still seeing this problem! We also fixed a few other things while we were at it. Thanks!
Hey everyone! This update is mostly about preparing for the next DLC - The Mechanist. We have also added full support for German, and there are quite a few tweaks, fixes, and other improvements as well! We now also support cross-platform cloud saving, so you can take your PC characters to your Steam Deck, for example! Here are the full notes. Stay tuned for more!
Hey everyone!
The Mechanist, our 5th class and 2nd DLC for Chronicon, is now up on the store for wishlisting, and will be released soon! Head on over and check it out and put it on your wishlist so you're notified when it's available!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2206120/Chronicon__The_Mechanist/
We will also release an update for the base game in a few days, with tweaks, fixes, and preparation for the new class. In addition to this, we are enabling cross-platform cloud saving, so you can for example bring your PC characters with you on your Steam Deck! This change should be rolling out during the day.
Anyway, that's all for now! Keep your eyes peeled for the update, and please wishlist the DLC!
Thank you!

Thank you everyone, hope you like it as much as we do!
Hey everyone! Hope you're having a good time with the new update! Thanks for the bug reports and feedback on all the new things. We have decided to make Injectors and Launchers drop more frequently, and also to cap the Elixir Effectiveness stat as it would very quickly get out of hand, putting Elixirs in a place we did not intend. We hope these changes makes as much sense to you as it does to us - and please let us know if you find any more issues and we'll get right on that. Thanks, hope you enjoy! Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! Update 1.40.0 is finally here! This one is very large, introducing a lot of new things, a lot of balance changes, performance boosts, and finally an official French translation! We are working on a few more languages that will release this year too. We're also working on a lot of other things.. next month we will have not one, but two big announcements for Chronicon - so stay tuned for that! Anyway, as always we are thankful for all your bug reports, suggestions, and valuable discussions here and on Discord. It's always a joy to interact with this great community! Thank you, and we hope you enjoy this update!
Hey everyone! Update 1.33.2 is now live with more fixes! Thanks for your reports, and please let us know of any other problems! Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! This update fixes the issues introduced with the most recent update. There's always something that slips through the cracks, and we are thankful for your reports! We are aware of some issues with the expedition tree interface and larger resolution monitors, and are working on fixing that as well. Thanks everyone!
Hey everyone! Here's a slightly larger update with a lot of improvements to the DLC content! We took your feedback to heart and have done our best to incorporate it in this update, everything from small UI changes and making the Expedition tree more accessible to new players, to larger account-wide progression saving and difficulty selection for the Expeditions. We also added some extra features, such as letting you send your beasts back to town to sell stuff for you! In the next big update, we'll be looking at build & balance feedback, and try to bring up some lacking builds up to date as well. As always, thank you very much for your suggestions, comments, and bug reports! We hope you enjoy what this update brings! Full notes below:
Hey everyone! Thanks for all the feedback, reports, and kind comments! We are happy to hear you are having a good time with the DLC. Of course, a few issues popped up and we have now taken care of the most immediate problems. We have also got a lot of feedback about very varied drop rates for Mythical crafting materials. To improve the feel of this, we have added a small system that should make the drops feel a lot better - full details in the notes below! Please keep the feedback coming, as in the next week we will go through everything we have learned, and work towards making the DLC even better! Thank you!
Here we go! Our first DLC - Ancient Beasts - is now available at the link below. We hope you will enjoy it! Thank you everyone for your support! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1599010/Chronicon__Ancient_Beasts/
Hey everyone! Big day today! We've just released update 1.32.0, fixing some issues, tweaking a few things, adding a few other, and most importantly, getting ready for the DLC. The DLC launch is at 19:00 CET, you can get the exact time in your country by checking out the event in the DLC announcement. Additionally, if you are a fan of the soundtrack, we are happy to announce that all DLC tracks will be added for free to the Chronicon Original Soundtrack - for both current and future owners. We will make another announcement when the DLC is live... see you then! Full notes below:
Hey everyone! Finally, we have a date: February 25th! We put together a short trailer for you.. have a look! [previewyoutube=QhE3Ldv9CAE;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] And don't forget to wishlist so you don't miss the release! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1599010/Chronicon__Ancient_Beasts/ Thanks for being patient - we hope you will enjoy this DLC!
Hey everyone! As usual with a big update we tend to break a few things... here's an update to take care of some of these issues. We've identified a few more issues that we are working on as well. Thanks for the reports!
It's that time of the year again!
The Chronicon Christmas Event is now live!
Help Tinka with some problems in his workshop, find presents with randomized loot, collect a special holiday item set, large bags, and more! Or just marvel at the holiday decor that Korem put up around The Chronicon, just for you.
Enjoy, and happy holidays!
Hey everyone! We've decided to split the DLC from the update we were working on alongside it, so we're releasing the update immediately, and the DLC early next year. Originally we planned to bundle the two and release them both before christmas, but looking at where we are, we wouldn't be able to get things to a level of quality we are happy with on time. The DLC is 99% done, but that last 1% is always the most important and time consuming one! This being our first DLC release, we really want to get it right, and do right by everyone who loves and supports Chronicon. We hope you will find it worth the wait! In the meantime, we've updated the DLC store page with some fresh new screenshots, and we'll have a lot more to share on the DLC and future content in the next year! Have a look: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1599010/Chronicon__Ancient_Beasts/ Anyway, on with the 1.31.0 update! There are some significant fixes and tweaks, which is why we decided to release it a bit earlier. In particular, some balancing changes to boss health and damage in Anomalies (we expect to need to tune this further based on your feedback), as well as tweaks and fixes to some weird item and skill interactions. In particular, Crown of Innate Possibilities double dipped on Mastery and item/power-boosted procs, so if you find that this has impacted your build a lot, do let us know, as we suspect the item may need need some tweaks after this fix. As always, thanks for your reports and suggestions, and please let us know if any issues pop up and we'll get right on that. Thanks, hope you enjoy! Full notes:
Hey everyone!
The in-game Halloween event is now live!
Something weird has been happening outside the simulation of the Chronicon.. at a local pumpkin patch! Head on over, help with the pumpkin harvest, deal with some restless undead, and find event-exclusive items in the process!
Enjoy!
Event is live from October 25th - November 5th.
(We're also making good progress on the DLC, despite all delays, and will soon have more info to share!)
Hey everyone! Thanks for your reports and suggestions. This update should take care of some recent issues, as well as introduce a few QoL features. Please let us know if any issues persist or anything new pops up!
Hey everyone! Thanks for the reports about the new issues that arose with update 1.30.0! This update should take care of all reported issues. Please let us know if any issue persists or if anything else pops up, and we'll get right on it! Oh, and during August 20th-22nd we'll be celebrating Chronicon's release anniversary with increased magic find and experience for anyone playing during that time! Here are the full notes:
Hey everyone! It's been a while, but we're back with another big update. And a pretty big reveal! We've just published the DLC store page, so please go ahead and take a look! Bear in mind it's a work in progress, so expect some more screenshots and a neat little trailer sometime soon - we'll make a second announcement when we have everything ready and can give you an exact date. We wanted to get it out there ahead of time however to keep everyone in the loop. Exciting times ahead! Meanwhile, feel free to wishlist the DLC to help us gauge interest, and take a look at the update notes for update 1.30.0 below, that just went live. As always, thanks for the many suggestions, comments, and bug reports! Hope you enjoy the update!
Hey everyone! Here's a few fixes for some recent issues. As always, let us know if you encounter any problems, and thank you for the reports! If all goes well, there won't be any updates for a while as we do a deep dive into 1.30.0 development and the endgame expansion DLC! We'll post a few teasers occasionally on social media and Discord, so be sure to follow us and join the chat! Discord Twitter Roadmap
Hey everyone! Another fix & tweak update is now live. Please let us know if you encounter any more issues, and we'll get right on it. Thank you for your reports!
Hey everyone! Thank you so much for reporting the issues and helping us verify crashes & fixes during the last two days. Unfortunately this update was a bit bumpy and introduced some crashes that we had a hard time to recreate ourselves, so your help really sped things up! We now believe the crashes should be fixed. Please let us know if you experience any problems and we'll get right on it, as always. Thanks!
Hey everyone! 1.20.0 is finally here with some big new features! With this update we have added the Skin & Dye system, which currently offers 2 unlockable skins for each class, and 8 unique dyes for each class - 4 of which are unlocked from the start. We plan to expand on this system with more skins and dyes being added in the future, too! Tinka's Domain also got a makeover and is now much larger and has some space reserved for Secret Future Things, as well as having a brand new soundtrack that makes it a very atmospheric place to hang out and theorycraft :-) Speaking of theorycrafting - several sets have been buffed and many items and runes got tweaked, changed, and a few even got replaced with something more suitable (or usable). There's also a few new items and runes for you to discover! There's also a new Death Recap system, which is a log of what happened to your character before it died, which you can read to figure out what defenses you may need to improve etc. Along with that comes also a bunch of QoL improvements and fixes, such as being able to lower the amount of particles from spells & effects, always loading in to the last visited hub (Chronicon or Tinka's) when loading up your character, and more. Last but not least, Endless Tier Boosting is now adaptive and will let you boost more tiers the further you get, up to a maximum of 10 tiers per run! And now we begin work on the first DLC which will expand upon the endgame content quite a bit. We will have more info to share as things progress, but you can refer to the roadmap to see the overall plans for the rest of the year. And as you may have noticed, this text is full of "we" and not "I" - that's because as of a few months ago, my fiance has officially joined Subworld and the development of Chronicon! She's been with us the entire way since before the Early Access launch in 2015, giving me feedback and painstakingly helping me test things. And as of this year she's been taking on larger responsibilities like world & system design! We've worked on some pretty cool things lately, which you'll see in the first DLC, later this year! I'll remain the outward voice but you'll probably see her pop up on the forums or in support email from time to time under the nickname "Marruu". Yes, the same as Commander Marruu from Act 2 :-) Anyway, please give her a warm welcome! And, as always, thank you for the bug reports, suggestions, comments, and fun discussions! That's all for now, I hope you enjoy the update! https://youtu.be/688oCpiPnXo Here are the full notes of this update:
This update fixes the stash issues reported - thanks for the reports! Let me know if any issues persist.
Hey everyone! This update mainly focuses on fixing issues and improving QoL, but it also adds the second official translation: Spanish! If you play with click-to-move I think you will find that it's much more responsive, and I'd love to get your feedback on the changes. I've also changed the item cards when you hover items on the ground to be the same as the one you see in the inventory, and I've moved it to the bottom right corner so it doesn't obscure your vision in fights. Aside from that, a bunch of recent and old issues alike have been fixed. Some were hard to reproduce and confirm so please let me know if any issue persists and I will get back on that! Next big update will be 1.20 - check out the roadmap here for more info on the coming updates! Thanks!
Hey everyone! Another bugfix update has just gone live, fixing the remaining reported crashes and some other issues as of the recent large update. This update also lets you radial loot the event gifts! Thanks for all the reports, and as always please let me know if any issues persist! Thanks!
Hey everyone!
The in-game Christmas event is now live!
During this event you'll be able to go into Tinka's Workshop to help him with a slight corruption problem... in here you'll face a Unique foe which can drop several Legendary Christmas-themed items - including a max sized bag!
You'll also get a lot of wrapped gifts, which when opened will reveal random items. Keep in mind that your loot filter setting will affect these gifts, so they may appear empty when opened!
Lastly you'll find that some locations, including Anomalies, will have some decoration fitting the season, and that your Crystals appear a lot more edible...
The event will last through the rest of the year.
I hope you enjoy this special event!
A bugfix update is also scheduled for later this week - so stay tuned for that!
Thank you!
Hey everyone! The most recent update introduced a few issues which should hopefully be resolved now. Unfortunately I had to temporarily remove some effects of a few berserker skills to stop the crashing, but they will be back as soon as I can make it work again. A new engine update sometimes introduces new issues that can be hard to pin down, so if you get any weird behavior or crashes, please let me know, and I will get right on it! Thank you!
Hey everyone! Update 1.10.6 is now live with fixes for recent issues, as well as some general tweaks and performance increases. Notably, the game is now also 64-bit! If you are running an older 32-bit system, you can find a 32-bit version in the BETA branches on steam, but please be aware that 32-bit will not be supported indefinitely. Linux users: 1.10.6 will be rolled out to Linux systems sometime later, as we are having some problems compiling in the latest engine version. I hope this will not delay us too much. A time-limited Christmas event will go live on December 15th, so keep an eye out for that! During this event you'll find extra loot - as neatly wrapped gifts! You'll also be able to visit a special location, and you'll find that the denizens of the word of Chronicon has decorated for the season. More info coming on the 15th! Here are the full notes:
Hey everyone! I have now created a roadmap with the major parts of my plans for Chronicon for the next year. You can read all about it on the forums, here. I hope this answers your questions about the continued support of Chronicon! Thanks!
Hey everyone! Thanks for your continued reports and suggestions! Here's an update that takes care of some recent issues.
Hey everyone! We've had some issues with Anti-Virus flagging the game as kinda sus, so this update will hopefully fix that! From testing, it was most likely related to clearing out some old data, which was caught as a suspicious action. Also, if you had issues with your characters not showing up on the Load Hero menu, this update should also fix this - if this issue persists, please send a screenshot of the load menu along with your save files to help@subworldgames.com and I will investigate further. Note: your save data is not lost, the game is just not recognizing it for some players, so do not worry! Anyway, I'm sorry for the inconvenience this might have caused, and I think you for being understanding and helping me test and verify the issues! Here are the full notes for the fixes deployed since 1.10.0:
Hey everyone! Update 1.10.0 is now live! This update features a revamped difficulty for the Story, a new backup system for your saves, improved Anomalies, a tier skip for the Endless Anomalies, some new Transmutation recipes - and much more! Originally I was planning even more things for this update, however I decided to split it into two, so expect another update of similar size some time later. Planned features for the next update include build balance/buffs, and unlockable character skins! Also, if you are not yet on the Discord, please join! We are currently taking a vote on the first DLC! I hope you enjoy! Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone!
The yearly Halloween in-game event is now live!
You'll find a new area in which you can do quests and obtain a few items available only during this event. It's a great time to add that one seasonal event item missing from your Item Codex...
You'll also find that the game is a lot spookier overall!
This event lasts through October 20th-31st.
(And Update 1.1 is also coming very soon.)
Have fun!
Hey everyone! I am back in health and back at work, fixing issues and tweaking stuff! This update improves support for custom translations by adding an in-game menu to change language from, and it also adds the first official translation: Simplified Chinese! In the future I plan on adding support for more community translations by adding additional fonts, such as Korean. I may be adding more official translations down the line as well. This update also fixes a few crashes and tweaks a few things. Thanks for all the reports, comments, and suggestions! I am now shifting focus entirely to 1.1, which will bring a lot of new QoL features, buff/tweak a lot of sets and items, add a save backup system, endgame improvements, and also fix a large amount of bugs - among other things! Thanks everyone!
Hey everyone! Thanks for your continued support and reports! This is another bugfix update that takes care of a large amount of issues. I've also added some slight QoL features that were requested in the past few days. I have been asked about a roadmap with future plans so I will be making one sometime soon, where I will list my plans for some time ahead. However here's a short summary of the next few steps: I will soon shift my focus entirely to 1.1 which will largely be a huge QoL update with skill tweaks, interface tweaks, improved anomaly layouts, wider language support, and much more! And after that, I shift my focus to something bigger. More on this later! Thanks everyone, I hope you enjoy! Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! Thanks for the reports! This is another small update to take care of most of the recent issues, as well as adding some tweaks to overtuned monsters and such. Please let me know if any issue was not fixed for you, or if you run in to any other issues! Also, in case you missed it, the official soundtrack is now available, here. Thanks everyone!
Hey everyone! The Chronicon Official Soundtrack is now available! This soundtrack offers all the in-game music in its full length, both in an .mp3 format and a high-quality FLAC format. Pick it up today to support both the composer and the continued development of Chronicon! You can find the soundtrack on the Steam Store -here! We hope you enjoy!
Hey everyone! Thanks for your reports! This update fixes even more problems than before, and I'm not gonna keep jinxing things by saying we are almost done fixing again :) Please let me know if you run into any more issues!
Hey everyone! Thanks again for the reports! This update should take care of all the larger issues reported since the last update, as well as a few other tweaks. As always, please let me know if you encounter any problems! I am planning another update during the week where I will specifically target Linux issues, and one in which I will target some localization problems to help those of you working on translations! Thanks!
Hey everyone! A slightly bumpy launch as expected, but this little update should take care of all the big issues. Please let me know if any issue persists or if you find anything else. Thanks for all the reports!
Hey everyone!
After 5 long years in Early Access, we are launching fully!
Amazing. Thank you everyone who has supported me & the game over the years, and thank you for being part of the journey!
As with all of my larger updates you can expect some issues slipping through the cracks, so I will be hovering the forums for the next few hours, ready to help & note any issues. Hopefully it should go smoothly though! Expect fixes in the next week for anything that might pop up!
And after that, well, I got some cool stuff planned. More on this later...
Let's go!
Hey everyone! I can't believe I'm typing this.. but I have set a release date! Chronicon will fully launch as 1.0.0 on August 21st! The Early Access price will remain with a small launch discount for a few days, to give everyone who's been waiting for full release a last chance to pick it up at lower price point. Afterwards, the game price will increase a few dollars to its intended full price. What's next? I hope to be able to continue support to game for a long time with fresh free smaller content updates, as well as paid DLC with major content updates. You can expect more info on this later this year! Thank you to everyone who has supported me & the game through this very long Early Access period! And here's a little teaser with some Act 5 content: [previewyoutube=dxK7JEUDlKs;full][/previewyoutube] See you on the 21st!
Hey everyone! Here's a few fixes for a couple recent issues. I've also removed some old achievements and added new, broader ones in the same category, namely kill "X of Y" type achievements. In the future you can expect a few codex-related ones, too. And of course a bunch for Act5! When you see those appear in the achievements list, 1.0 is near.... Thanks for the reports, suggestions, and comments! Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! This update should take care of the issues with indirect damage suddenly being extremely lethal, as it was balanced when a bug that was fixed in the previous update was active. I also added two new stats and enchants to specifically let you deal with indirect damage if you find your preferred form of defenses lacking in that area. While I was doing that I figured I'd take a poke at the endless tier scaling, as it rapidly got a bit out of hand, and - as always - I got a bit carried away and made a larger update than intended. I've also fixed a couple issues that popped up, gave Warden some tweaks, and poked at a few other things here and there. Anyway, hope you enjoy this update! Now I'm off to dig myself deep into Act 5 work :-) Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! Thanks for the reports! Here's a tiny fix to solve the more pressing issues. A few other things have been brought to my attention and will also be fixed sometime soon. This update also features improved Linux support, so it should work without any tweaking for more Linux players now. Have a good weekend!
Hi everyone! Thanks again for the rapid reports! Here's another small update to take care of some recent issues. Let me know if anything else pops up! Special thanks to Liam Dawe for helping with recent Linux troubles. Thanks!
Hey everyone! Thanks for the quick reports - I have fixed the issues that popped up with all the new stuff. Hopefully that's all for a while! I'm glad to hear so many are enjoying the new update too! Thank you!
Hey everyone! This update took a lot longer than intended, simply because I decided to cram in most of the planned pre-release features into a single update! That's right, aside from fixes, QoL, and smaller updates, the next big one will be 1.0! Of course, it'll be a while before then - it's gonna be a pretty huge update, after all. So what's in the update? In short: I've added a build export/import system, so you can now save your builds and quickly swap between them. This includes both skills and masteries, and the builds can be loaded up on any character of the same class. Even your friends' characters if you send them your build files. Or attach them to your build guide! Just talk to Korem or Tinka and they'll let you export & import. There's an in-game Codex that tracks and lists progression in terms of areas visited, waypoints found, unique monsters killed, regular monsters killed, unique+ items obtained, runes obtained, and several other nice and helpful stats and tidbits of info, such as rough indicators of how to obtain items you don't have. I've also added a few new items and added new and more interesting effects to some existing ones, such as the oddly useless Quadruplets. I think you'll find them more useful now! Last but not least: I've worked with a number of skilled voice actors who have added countless of voice lines to bosses, npc's, and --- your characters! Yes, your characters will now grunt and shout at you when you don't have enough mana, and react to certain in-game events, such as killstreaks, and much more! And as always there is a bunch of requested QoL features and fixes! And, finally, a big thank you to everyone who has been reporting bugs, posting suggestions, and participating in the discussions both here on Steam and on Discord! I hope you enjoy this update - have fun and stay safe! Here are the full notes:
Hey everyone! Here's another small update with some new stuff, some tweaks, some mechanic changes, and fixes. A few issues remain, so you can expect a few more small updates like these going forwards. 0.97.0 will likely be ready sometime (late) next month, and it'll feature the much requested build saving! That means creating, saving, loading, and sharing character builds easily! So stay tuned for that :-) Thanks for your reports, comments, and suggestions! Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! After a refreshing holiday I am back, and what better way to start off the year than with a big bug fix? After this update I will be working on getting some more content out, such as new items and runes, and something else... You can also expect small fixes here and there as per usual. This year will also be a big year for Chronicon - 1.0 release year! I will be making a post on what that means and what you can expect, sometime in the near future. Many thanks for the suggestions, reports, and comments! Here's the full notes of this update:
Hey everyone! This update adds a much requested way to remove single skill points instead of having to reset all of them at once. The skill reset Elixirs have also been removed, and you'll now either reset all points or remove as many as you wish by speaking to Korem in The Chronicon, or Tinka in Tinka's Domain (endgame). No more accidentally binding a full mastery reset to the belt slot (yikes!). I've also added a few new items, a rune, and tweaked and improved several existing items by adding more interesting powers to them. In addition to this I've also fixed many reported issues and added a lot of requested quality of life features such as spell persistence between loading screen. And finally, with this update the Holiday event is active! Help Tinka clear out the corruption from his secret workshop, and maybe find some fancy holiday equipment and a bag while you're there! If the need arises, you can expect some smaller bugfixes in the coming weeks, as usual. Thanks everyone, and happy holidays!
Hey everyone! Another quick update as I missed a few things with the resolution update last week. This update should fix oddities when using resolutions or aspect ratios that do not match your monitor. This is mostly noticeable when playing on ultra-wide, but should be an improvement all around. Thanks for the reports! Here are the full notes:
Hey everyone! This update should take care of most issues, and also adds a fullscreen resolution setting. This should help people playing on large resolution notebooks and similar, as you now should be able to lower the in-game resolution to gain a higher FPS. I wasn't able to reproduce nor verify a few of the bugs, so if you have experienced any of the bugs listed as "possible fix" near the bottom of the notes, please let me know if this update helped or not. Thanks for all the reports, suggestions, and comments! Here are the full notes:
Hey everyone! This update changes how controllers are detected and handled, so you can now freely pick controllers for each player, rather than having to use them in the order they are connected. You can also freely swap between controller and keyboard in the main menu, and your option doesn't get locked in until you enter the game. This also allows the new steam remote play to work as intended, so you can now co-op with friends far away! The Linux build should also work again! Thanks to everyone for your reports, support, and patience in the matter. And special thanks to liberodark who, once again, solved the problem! In addition to this I've fixed some of the issues you have reported. Expect another fix or two before more content updates. Thanks again for all the reports, comments, and suggestions!
Hey everyone! Thanks for the reports! This update should take care of all reported crashes. I will be continuing work on fixes for issues you have reported in the next few days, but I figured I should get the critical ones out of the way first. Here's what this update fixes:
Hey everyone! Thanks for the reports. Today I've uploaded 0.95.2 which fixes the last big issue for this update. There's a few more issues popping up so expect a fix or two in the coming weeks before the next big update. Here's the notes of this update and the previous quick fix, earlier in the week. Thanks!
Hey everyone!
Update 0.95.0 is here to bring you new goodies and another step closer to release!
This update adds a much requested endless mode to the endgame, as well as a bunch of new items and runes! Some item sets have also been buffed, and other have been completely reworked. Of course, with the new anomaly mode comes a fresh new interface that makes it easier to select difficulty and mode, and it also provides some previously hidden information about monster stats. It's pretty neat. All to make the progression into the endless mode all the more enjoyable!
Oh and this update also brings a
Halloween Event
which starts on the 20th!
Also there are currently some issues with the Ubuntu build that we are trying to solve. Thanks to the Linux community for your efforts in the matter, and for your understanding.
And of course thanks to everyone who has posted bugs, suggestions, and feedback.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this update!
Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! I'm back from the torment that is having no internet and moving to a new place. Here's a smaller update with some fixes as I am working on the next big update, 0.95.0. That update will have new items and Anomaly updates! As always thanks for all reports, suggestions, and comments! Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! Many thanks for all the quick and detailed reports on the last update. I have now fixed most of the issues, and thought I'd release what I have before packing up my office and moving :) So this'll be the last update for a little while as I get things settled! Thanks again, and as always just let me know if there are any issues!
Hey everyone! Thought I'd get a quick fix out before the weekend. Thanks for the reports!
Hey everyone! Long time no big update.. so here's one! Some highlights are:
Hey everyone! This will be the last update for a while as I am making progress on 0.94.0 with some larger improvements, and I will also try to take some time off in the next couple of weeks to enjoy the summer while it lasts. Thanks for the reports, suggestions, comments, and of course all the support! Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! I didn't plan on releasing another fix so soon but there was a crash left in the game that I wanted done before the weekend, so here's another small update to take care of that and a few other things. Thanks again for the reports! Have a great weekend :)
Hey everyone! Thanks for all the reports! As usual following a big update there will be a few smaller fixes like these to work out the issues that pop up. This update should take care of most recent issues and few old ones, but expect one or two more of these small fix updates before the next content update. Thanks again and keep those reports coming! Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! 0.93.0 is finally ready! It largely consists of new mastery perks and passives intended to flesh out the tree with more options as well as support some previously unsupported stuff. The update also adds and changes some mechanics, QoL stuff, items, sets, and also some difficulty balancing and progression. It also includes an experimental performance fix which may help people seeing consistently low framerates. Please let me know if this fix made a difference for you! Those of you interested in custom/fan translations will also be happy to know that all items, sets, and related text are now fully available for translations! As always I have also fixed a ton of issues, however some remain on the list so you can expect a 0.93.1 going up next week with more fixes in it. In particular I am having difficulty reproducing and finding some co-op issues such as gamepad-related crashes and area corruption/resets, so if that happens to you please reach out to me with as much info as you can and we'll get it fixed ASAP! Thanks again for all reports, suggestions, and comments over the past weeks! Extra thanks to those of you who sent me your dxdiag reports to help with the performance problems. Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! I wanted to give you a progress update as I've had a lot of questions concerning the next update, and there have been some delays in my earlier estimates. The next update will be live next week! I have some fixes and polish left to do, but it's largely complete. Some bugs are more elusive than others, so if you are experience crashes in co-op mode I'd love to hear from you, as I need more information on those issues specifically. The update focuses on fleshing out the Mastery system a bit with new perks and passive nodes in slots where the options are a bit thin currently. These perks and passives include some new stuff for niche or poorly supported builds, better utility support, some general stuff, and some stuff for mixed builds. A little bit of everything! I'm adding about 20 new options for all classes, and also improving a few existing ones to be more competitive to their options. I've also added a bunch of QoL stuff, tweaked the difficulties a little bit with health/damage balance, buffed a few items/sets that have fallen behind, and - as always - fixed a ton of recent issues. I will also be including an experimental performance fix for people using laptops or desktops with multiple or integrated GPU's who are seeing absurdly low frame rates. Thanks for being patient, and see you next week!
Hey everyone! Here's what's likely the last "tweaks and fixes" update until 0.93.0 is ready. For 0.93.0 I'm planning some difficulty and build balance, some overall skill tweaks, and new Masteries to give options to the nodes with few or only one passive/perk to pick from. Should be good! Thanks again for all suggestions, comments, and bug reports!
Hey everyone! A lot of small updates lately, and here's another one. There will probably only be one more of these until the next large-ish update (0.93.0) is ready. As always, thanks for reports, suggestions, and comments!
Hey everyone! Thanks for all the suggestions and reports! This is another small update which should improve some things and fix most known issues. As always just let me know if you run into problems and we'll sort it out. Thanks!
Hey everyone! I think this should cover the main pressing issues for now, but please let me know if something persists or something new pops up. Thanks again for all reports!
Hey everyone! Well, that update was unusually shaky, I guess rewriting several core system all at once isn't the best idea... This update should fix all the issues reported - please let me know if any issues remain! Thanks for the reports and your patience, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.
Hey everyone! It's been a while and I got a pretty big update for you! This update upgrades a ton of internal systems and makes use of the most recent GMS2 engine update. So if you've experience framerate issues or the game running sluggishly, this update should (hopefully!) solve those issues! If you're playing Chronicon on Linux, you may have to do some tweaks depending on your setup, as the updated engine targets ubuntu 18 LTS instead of 14 LTS. However, thanks to liberodark, Chronicon should support more distros without the need for tinkering. A big thanks to him :) Additionally some major points of this update are brand new loot filters that can be saved and shared across characters, computers, guides, etc! You can make one per character, or make several types of filters for different purposes, and switch between them from the pause menu from any character. There's also a new keybind system that works in the same way! Per character, per style, per whatever, really. Just set them up and select them from the pause menu. Easy peasy! Both the filters and keybinds are stored as plain text files in a json format (in your Chronicon save directory) so you can easily grab them and share them with friends or copy-paste their contents into guides, for example. I've also written a new faster and more reliable save system. It allows more frequent auto-saves, and should prevent loss of data if you experience a sudden shutdown or power outage. Pretty neat. Please also note that starting the game after updating will convert all existing save data to a new format that is not backwards compatible. On top of all this, Anomalies have been tweaked a bit (more to come on that front), many items have been given cool new powers, and I've added a few new runes and legendary + true legendary equipment. And as always I've fixed a bunch of issues - thank you very much for your reports, suggestions, and support! As we draw closer to 1.0, I will have more news to share regarding progress, estimated time of "release", and upcoming pricing changes to the game sometime soon! Enjoy! Full notes below:
Hey everyone! Thanks for the continued reports! I have released an update that should fix the most recent and most immediate issues. I am now working on the next update which will, among other things, improve loot filters and Anomaly layouts to make for a smoother experience overall. Here's today's update notes:
Hey everyone! Update 0.91.0 is here with some tweaks, fixes, QoL featuers, and a lot of Warden love! Thanks for the reports, suggestions, and input! (and if I haven't replied to your suggestions yet, don't worry, I will!) I hope you enjoy this update, and that I didn't break too many things... Have a great weekend! Here's the full update notes:
Hey everyone! Thanks for all the reports! Here's an update that should resolve most found issues since 0.90.0. There's still some left in the bug reports thread, and I'll have another update out by the weekend or so to take care of that. Here's the full notes:
Hey everyone! Did you find True Legendary items to be a bit rare recently? Turns out they didn't drop in Anomalies. My bad. steamfacepalm This update fixes that and a few other things, and also changes how MF works in general.. should provide a better experience overall, but please let me know what you think! Thanks for the continued reports and suggestions!
Hey everyone! Thanks for the reports! I have mainly fixed a bunch of issues and done some tweaking to Anomalies and drop rates. Please let me know if you think drop rates are better and how the Anomalies feel now! Here's the full update notes:
Hey everyone!
Major Content Update #7 is finally here!
And it's a big one - in fact so big so the update notes don't fit in this announcement, so you'll find all of them over here.
You can also check out this little video I made to see some cool new stuff and builds.
This update introduces a new Endgame system based around the old Anomalies, however now you manually get to pick the difficulty without having to slog through 2000 floors before your ber build faces a challenge. :-)
Numbers has also been squished a lot to be more easily balanced and maintained in the long run, so if you were hitting in the trillions before, you will most likely not do that anymore, though you should be getting through content of the same difficulty at the same pace regardless. Also please note that not all builds have been given the attention they deserve, and there will be a lot of updates leading up to 1.0 that adds new powers, balances sets and existing powers, etc. to bring as many builds as possible to great power and fun!
The Anomalies have been split into 3 different types:
Hello everyone! As discussed in the previous announcement, I have some test builds up where you can try out the new features of the next update. I would like to invite anyone who is interested to check it out, and give an update on what the plans for next year is.
Hello everyone! I figured it was a good time to do a progress update. I was planning to have the next update out before Christmas, but I've realized I just don't have enough time to do everything I want to before then. I don't want to cut anything out either, so the plan now is to upload what I have as an optional update this weekend, so you can check out the work-in-progress new stuff over the holidays if you want to. I'll resume work on it after the holidays and do a proper update as soon as it's done! I'll make an announcement when the optional update is available, and explain how to get it (don't worry, it's very simple!).
Hey guys! Another update is live, focusing on fixing various issues that popped up. Thanks for reporting them to me, and please let me know if there's any more issues! Hope you all have a good and crash-free weekend ːsteamhappyː
Hey guys! The fight against performance issues goes on. This update should hopefully help for a lot of people. If not, please make sure to try everything in the trouble shooting thread, and if the issue still persists, let me know. It also helps if you provide me with your system specs, including OS and number of monitors used. That's it for now, as always; thanks for reporting issues and being patient for fixes!
Hey guys! Here's another small update to take care of some problems. I've added a new option under the Video Settings that may help with the recent frame rate issues - so please check "Alternative Frame Timing" under the Video Settings to see if that helps! Also make sure to check out the troubleshooting thread. You may also need to re-enable Vertical Synchronization from the Video Settings after this update to make sure it's really on. Anyway, that's it for now. Please let me know if any of this helped your performance. Thanks!
Hey guys! Thanks for the reports! I've fixed the most urgent issues, but the performance problems remain for now. I am unable to reproduce them myself so I cannot test solutions, so if you're experiencing poor performance as of update 0.82.0, please read this reply in this thread (link) about the issue, and how to obtain a special build with some experimental changes. Please let me know in that thread if it runs better! Anyway, here's the notes for this update:
Hey guys! Finally, I've completed the port to the new engine, and finished adding some new features and other goodies to the game! This update has some cool new features such as skipable cutscenes, a small dialogue system where you can learn about various mechanics and lore (which means that Korem is monologuing a lot less for Act introductions!), a few new transmutation recipes for pushing Anomalies even further, and - as have been heavily requested - a few True Legendary weapons. There will definitely be more of those, so don't worry if this first batch aren't suitable to your playstyle or build. As this is an engine port there will most likely be some weird bugs occurring that have slipped through testing. Nevertheless I'd like to thank everyone in the Community Discord who have sent me suggestions, bug reports, and done a lot of testing for this update. Thank you! And, as always, thanks to everyone who have done the same here on the forums, and I hope to continue hearing from all of you as the game is progressing towards being complete! With that, I can now say that I am looking **preliminary** at the first quarter of the next year for 1.0 and leaving Early Access. ːsteamhappyː Next up is revamping the Anomaly system and adding more Endgame options, revamped Masteries, some new secret endgame crafting stuff, and Act 5.. in no particular order. Many good things ahead! Stay tuned!
Hey guys! It's been a while since I last made an announcement or released an update, so I figured I'd get everyone updated on what's going on! As you may know, I am using GameMaker: Studio to develop Chronicon, and have been using the 1.4 version for a long time now. However, this version has now been discontinued, meaning it will get no more support or updates in the future. So I was left with no option other than to port the game to the new 2.1 version of GameMaker: Studio. This version offers better performance and a lot of new tools to make my life easier, as well as many fixes for some annoying issues (yay!). But it also does a lot of things differently, meaning some of the stuff I was relying on no longer exists or has been changed fundamentally. So what might seem like a simple software upgrade turned into having to rewrite a ton of stuff, and in some place write entire new things! This has been taking longer than expected, but I am now at a place where most things are functional and it's mostly just refinement, tweaking, and testing left. If you want to help out with any of the testing, feel free to join the Community Discord Server and check out the pinned messages for how to opt-in to the special "Tinka Builds", where you get raw, buggy, versions of what I am currently working on. I'd love to hear how it runs for you, especially if you've had problems in the past with low framerates. If you've tested it before, there's a new version available as of this announcement. There's also some new things coming with this update such as better (and skippable!) boss intros, a new dialogue system for NPC's, a few new Transmutation recipes aimed at endgame content, and some other neat stuff. Should be something for everyone! The update will be released as soon as possible, but it's too soon to estimate exactly when. So stay tuned! Thanks! Note: The Tinka Builds are currently Windows-only.
Hey guys! Thanks for the reports! This update should take care of most issues, however some were more difficult and time-consuming than anticipated so I've decided to upload what I got so far to smoothen things out in the meanwhile. Let me know if you encounter any further issues!
Hey guys! A few things slipped through our testing and caused some issues, thanks for reporting it so quickly! All issues should now be fixed, but please do let me know if you run into something. Thanks!
Hey guys! As I was preparing to port the game to a new engine I realized I should probably leave you guys with some fresh content before I disappear for a while working on that, so here's a content update! This update introduces a lot of new stuff.. could almost have made it a Major Content Update! Some highlights of this update includes the new Transmutation crafting NPC, Theo! He'll help you craft and combine new items from some known recipes.. and some from hidden, unlisted recipes that only the most clever and perceptive heroes will find. He can also help you modify your items in new ways, such as unlocking previously augmented Enchants, or empowering Legendary items to copy the base stats from True legendary items. All for the min/max :-) There's also some neat QoL features like "hotswapping" selected active skills, allowing you to pick one of their alternatives at a whim without resetting your point allocations. There's also a new Radial Loot feature, where you will loot everything matching your item filters (set up in the Gameplay options) within your Pickup Radius. Pretty nifty! This update will also address some recent chance and concerns with my ongoing iterations of the cooldown and resource management. There's always room for improvement, but we have found a pretty good base for things now, I believe! The game now also officially supports community translations to Simplified Chinese, and all skill descriptions and names has been added to the pool of external text, for anyone to take a look at and/or translate. Future updates will bring item text and the remaining in-game text to a readable format as well! However the game does not ship with any translations at this point. As always I'd like to thank everyone for continuing to support the development by reporting bugs, posting feedback, and sharing ideas! I'll be around for the next few days to keep an eye on things and see if there's any bugs that need fixing, but after that I'll start the porting which, depending on how difficult ti becomes, may result in a bit of an update drought until it's done. But after that you can expect some big things on the horizon! Stay tuned!
Hey guys! This little update should fix some of the recent issues. Since there was a crash issue included I had to hurry and get it solved ASAP. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing for a while now, so I can focus on new content! Thanks for the reports, and have a great weekend!
Hey guys! Thanks for quickly reporting issues you found with the last update! Here's a quick fix in return. Please let me know if you encounter any further issues!
Hey guys! Major Content Update #6 is here, and with it, the Hardcore mode! And not to mention Linux support! In this update I have changed a lot. Needless to say you will likely have to tweak your builds a bit, but rest assured that you should be able to get even further now. The changes will be mostly noticeable if you make a new character, as almost all skill cooldowns have been lowered by 30-50%! That being said, however, many stats have been made multiplicative, including Cooldown Reduction. Check out the excellent (and 0.80.0 compatible) builds on the Builds Forum - Rahlence and jon_12345 have both been very busy creating new builds and helping me test everything to make sure it all works well! A big thanks to you guys! And thanks to everyone for your reports, this update should take care of all recent, and some of the more long term issues as well. This being a new major update, I'm moving to a fresh thread with bug reports, found here. Let me know if you encounter any issues and I'll get right on it! As always with these big updates, there will be a 20% off sale, starting tomorrow (April 27th)! Below is a summary of the changes, since the whole update notes are too big to fit! You can read the full notes here. Enjoy!
Hey guys! Update 0.75.0 went super smooth and only a few minor issues crept up. I have now fixed these, except for an animation timing issue with the Warlock's Wraith form and the Soul Warp skill - this fix should come with the next update (tricky bug!). I also added sliders to the Shader options, so you can turn down effects like the heat distortion effect in the desert area, rather than just picking on/off. As always, thanks for the reports and please let me know if there are any further issues!
Hey guys! The last class update is now complete! As expected, this one covers the Warlock and all his sets, passive skills, and also features some changes to both utility, companion, and ritual skills. I also did a lot of performance work, so you should experience much less slowdowns and frame drops during larger and intense fights! Another noteworthy change is that Shield/absorption effects are now visible on your healthbar, and will also absorb indirect damage such as burns, poison, bleeds - etc. As such, you will also find that the Warlock makes good use of shields in this update. As always I've fixed all recent reported issues, and even managed to find and fix some of the more elusive, persistent bugs that have stuck around for ages. Hopefully I didn't introduce that many new bugs this time around :-) Next up is taking a final pass at all the classes, focusing on the ultimate and companion skills primarily, but also taking a look at how some stats and enchants are used and distributed. You can expect ultimates to become a bit more streamlined and all around more useful for a wide array of builds, and companion builds to become stronger overall. I have some exciting and secret new features in the works as well, which I think you'll like! All of this will arrive approximately in mid-late April. Meanwhile we are also working on the final act, but as you probably already know, it'll take a long time and there are many things to be added in first! I'll be sure to update you when any significant progress has been made. And lastly I would like to thank everyone for their contributions to the Chronicon community and your continued support of the game! I hope you'll enjoy this update!
Hey guys! Some issues popped up (as expected) and this update should take care of it. I also implemented a few community suggestions with it, such as minimap improvements, which I think you'll like! You may need to tweak your map scaling and opacity settings from the Interface menu in the Options menu after this update! Tomorrow I start work on the much anticipated Warlock update, and it should be done in 2-3 weeks, depending on how many bugs I manage to create in the process :-) Stay tuned for that!
Hey guys! Here comes the Warden update! All her sets and passives have been revamped, her masteries adjusted, and even some active skills have had some significant updates. If you play a Warden then this update is definitely for you, and if you don't, well, there's never been a better time to roll one! I've also added a few tweaks to other things, and fixed all reported issues. The low frame rates tied to energy saving / clock speed problems are still being investigated - thank you for being patient! If you're on Linux, you'll also be happy to know that there's a functioning, although a little unpolished, Linux build available! It needs a bit more work before I am ready to announce full support. It's mainly targeting Ubuntu, but other distros may also work. Just logging on Steam from a Linux machine should get you the Linux version as expected. Thanks for the continued reports and feedback, and a special thanks to the guys who helped me test the sets and Linux builds! Hopefully I didn't break too many things and I'll see you with the Warlock update in a few weeks :-)
Hey guys! This update is almost entirely a bug fix, taking care of all recent issues, as well as a few older ones. I've included some experimental scaling for those of you who play on 4K, as with some setups the game would run very, very poorly in this resolution. The scaling is on by default, and you have to tick "True 4K" in the Video settings to get the actual full 4K render, or it'll just upscale. However if you had problems with 4K before, don't tick that! Please let me know how it works, as I don't have a 4K monitor to properly test it myself. :c I'm also making progress on the Linux build.. I've gotten as far as it starts.. and freezes for seemingly no reason. I'm planning some public tests soon, and will have more info on that later! Anyway, that's all for now. Thanks for all reports and support! Have a good weekend!
Hey guys! This update is very significant if you play Templar, as all sets and associated skills have been updated, and she's even got a brand new set! I've also put in some general tweaks and additions, as well as a few community suggestions, so there should be something for everyone in this update. As always, I've also fixed a bunch of issues you guys have reported (thanks!), but lately I've been getting a lot of reports on things that are difficult to verify and find. Because of this, the known issues list is growing pretty large so I'm taking the next week or so to focus entirely on fixing bugs before continuing with the Warden sets & skills. After the Warden update, only the Warlock remain, and after his rework I'll do a final pass over all classes and make some fine tuning based on your feedback. I'll also be taking a look at the Ultimate skills during this final pass. Meanwhile, we (me and Jericho, the artist) have also begun work on Act 5, as well as a few other, secret things. As you may know I tend to work on everything at the same time :-). Act 5 will be the final act before 1.0 release, and it will also be the most cool, fun, and quite possibly largest. If you've been a part of the Chronicon community for a while you know the acts take a long time to do, so please be patient as we meticulously work our way forwards! Anyway, let me know if you have any issues with the update, be it technical or design, and I'll get right on that. Have a good weekend!
Hey guys! The last update introduced some new issues (as usual) but this hotfix should take care of it. Please let me know if you experience any further issues as always, and thanks for being patient and understanding!
Hey guys! First week back at work and it's been a productive one! A lot of issues crept up over the turn of the year so I figured I'd best get on that first. I threw in a few suggestions too, some recent and some pretty old ones that I've been meaning to do for a while. I didn't catch all the reported bugs just yet, so I will get on that next week. Next up is more suggestions, fixes, and of course the new Templar sets. As always, thanks for all the bug reports, suggestions, and support! Stay tuned for more!
Hey guys! Some of you weren't able to replay the seasonal event so I made a quick fix for that - let me know if you have any further issues with it. Merry Christmas!
Hey guys! Happy holidays everyone! This will be the last update of 2017. It features a neat little holiday event, available for characters level 10 and up, from which you can get some time limited equipment and other things. Mostly just for fun but it'll probably help your characters who aren't max level yet! In addition to that this update also rolls out the first iteration of the updated sets and passive abilities. First out is the Berserker, with 8 fresh sets and a bunch of skill changes. The set updates are also retroactive so if you already have them you don't have to grind up the new versions. Now, I know some of you have voiced concerns that because of these updated and very good sets, the game will shift and become heavily set oriented for end-game. This is partially true, as it will lean in favor of sets until near launch where I will be introducing more end-game features to allow deeper builds and itemization. So if sets don't float your boat, hang in there! In addition to that I've made a few adjustments to progression and difficulty scaling of Anomalies, a few QoL improvements here and there, and a ton of bug fixes. 2017 has been a great year for both me and the Chronicon community, and I remain very thankful and proud of what we've accomplished together. Thank you for the hundreds, if not thousands, of bug reports, thoughts, suggestions and feedback you've sent me over the year. The next year I am aiming for 1.0 release and I hope you'll all be along for the ride! That's all for this time, and unless I broke something (for which I will entirely blame Tinka), we'll see each other again in the next year. Exciting times ahead!
Hey guys! Here's another update taking care of all reported issues so far. Next up is a lot of tweaks and changes to skills and some equipment, and possibly an additional little treat. Stay tuned!
Hey guys! Yet another update is now available - thanks again for continuing to report issues to me!
Hey guys! Here's what I've managed to fix this weekend. It should cover most of the major issues so far, and I'll keep working to bring out fixes in a steady pace. I also added a tweaks and two new enchants... hope you like it! Thanks for the reports!
Hey guys! Another day, another update. Thanks for the continued reports - hopefully not that many issues left to solve now! About the FPS drops: with the help of community member Rahlence, I found that the most likely cause for the sudden FPS drops is power saving settings. For some reason, some computers won't recognize the game running as needing processing power and keeps everything in a power saving mode. So check your settings, and make sure it's set to Balanced or Performance, and take a look at your GPU settings as well. More info here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/375480/discussions/0/1291816880493891180/ Now it's just a matter of figuring out *why* some computers won't recognize the game. Oh well. Anyway, here's the changes of this update:
Hey guys! Thanks for your resilience and patience with bug reporting! Was this one shaky update or what? I've released two small updates since the major content patch which should solve most issues reported. If you find any problem please let me know in the bug report thread!
Hey guys! It's finally here - major content update #5! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kbl0LKlAt8 This is a very big update and not only does it add the whole new Act 4, but it also adds some new content to all three previous acts, as well as a ton of polish to quests, bosses, areas, and more! In addition to that, you'll be seeing many new enemies and Anomaly bosses and layouts, all with a *slightly* steeper difficulty curve. Not to mention the all new Spell Scroll and Relic items... this is something you may see much more of in the future! In addition to that, controllers should now feel even better in combat, the HUD got a slight update, enemies got their resistances re-balanced, most of the mute enemies now got voices, and there's a few new items for you to find. So what's next? I'm working on a Linux port (finally), and I will also be working a lot with existing items and sets, and the mastery trees will see some updates. My focus on the next few updates will be to work towards a greater build versatility and improved progress & itemization. Stay tuned!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss9VOFYAiLs Hey guys! It's been a while since any official updates, so I figured I'd give you a bit of a teaser for the next update! The update will go live in November, and as always there will be a sale to celebrate the event - each major content update is a step closer to 1.0! And now with Act 4 of 5 coming.. we're getting pretty close! The full update notes will be released with the update, but here's a small preview of what you can expect..
Hey guys! The game should no longer freeze on the load screen when entering The Catacombs. Sorry about that! Please let me know if the issue persists.
Hey guys! Here's another update. This time it's mostly fixes of things you've reported in the past weeks. Thank you for the reports! I am also making steady progress on Act 4, and as of this update I will focus entirely on it - unless something that needs urgent fixing pops up, of course! Here's the full update notes:
Hey guys! Thanks for the reports - here's a small bugfix with all known new issues of 0.65.0 fixed. If anything else pops up, I'll have another one out ASAP. I also added a new font which has better 8's :-) Let me know what you think of it! Thanks!
Hey guys! Thanks for all the feedback and bug reports! This update is heavily based on that, and as such it mostly concerns balance changes to both items and skills, and tons of fixes and quality of life changes. There are also 15 new item powers added to Unique and Legendary items! Some of these are completely new, and others are reworked to be more useful and interesting, such as the Jeopardy ring. With all this in mind, this is a pretty big update, and as per usual that means increased likelyhood that bugs slipped through my testing. However, I did fix a ton of issues - even some of the more elusive crashes, so I'm hoping for a more stable experience for everyone. Please let me know about any bug or crash that you experience! The more info the easier it is to locate and fix. Sadly the Windows 10 issues with black/white screens persist, as there has as of yet not been an update to the GameMaker engine. If you have any of these issues, please consult the Troubleshooting thread for temporary workarounds. Hopefully there will be an update soon so we can take care of this for good :) I will monitor the forums and dedicate the next few days for hotfixing, should it be necessary, so we all can enjoy this solstice weekend! After any potential issues have been resolved, I will continue work with Act 4. It's gonna be a good one! Anyway - that's all for now. I hope you enjoy the update! Full patch notes:
Hey guys! It's been brought to my attention that if you have the Windows 10 Creators Update, the game will just turn into a black screen. Luckily, this can easily be fixed by running the game in compatibility mode for Windows 7! If you don't know how to do this, here's a quick guide: [olist]
Hey guys! Thanks for your instant feedback on the update! I've now fixed the crashes reported and done some adjustments to the gems. Let me know what you think or if you experience further problems! Thanks!
