Bit Shifter: FLASHPOINT Update is LIVE

We are proud to announce that a major update to Bit Shifter, dubbed Flashpoint, is now live. So boot up Bit Shifter and see what the the hype is all about. What's so special about this update? Here is a summary: -New areas to explore -New weapons -New game Mechanics -New characters -New and improved story -More original music by our composer Aldo "Trnzaddict" Ferrante -Turrets are re-deployable -Improved teaching of core mechanics -System A reworked for gameplay, pacing and story -Better indicators when Items are ready for pickup -Wingnut (System B) indicators improved -Fixed a bunch of bugs In this update we went back to the drawing board in many ways. We analyzed the reviews and videos we received very closely. We saw where people were having problems and tweaked those situations making a better overall experience. Little did every youtuber know - they are our best playtesters because we can watch them play over and over. The written reviews helped us immensely too and the conclusion was inescapable: a rework was needed. For starters, we revamped the entire A system for pacing, gameplay and story. We decided to get to the meat of the game quicker, adding new mechanics and gameplay. We hope you all enjoy Bit Shifter: Flashpoint Happy Shifting, Plastic Games http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mY7K-v-A3RM

Then and Now - Bit Shifter Progress Update

We have an update coming very soon we are getting close to its release. We have gathered thoughts and opinions from convention attendees, user feedback and reviews. This update is a culmination of what they have said combined with some of what we were already planning. We basically realized we need to get to the meat of the game faster, that is what this update attempts to do. Here is a list of what we will be delivering in this next update. -Better initial teaching of core mechanics -Re-work of the entire story... We've added plot! -System A reworked for gameplay, pacing and story -System B in beta stage with more levels -Better indicators for Bit/Item Makers are ready for pickup -Turrets will be re-deployable (keeping current health) -Wingnut indicators improved for when it's about to infect a Tesla Lamp -New areas to explore -New weapons -New game Mechanics -More original music by our composer Aldo "Trnzaddict" Ferrante -A bunch of bugs fixed ( maybe some new ones introduced :-p ) We realize we have been slow with the updates and it could look like we are just another one of those Early Access developers that abandon their projects. I want to assure you all that though we may be slow with releasing we are continuing to work on Bit Shifter now and into the future. We also are perfectionists so we don't want to release until we feel it's ready. That leads me to you all the loyal users of Steam we need your help if you liked Bit Shifter spread the word write a review and let us know what you think, contact those You-tubers you love and get them to do a let's play we will send them a key, shout at the top of the mountain we don't care just spread the word. We have some awesome reviews right now but we need more not just to boost our presence but so we know we are going in the right direction or headed for a cliff. To everyone who has purchased our game, written a review, made a let’s play, came to a convention and just gave us their support in some way or another: Thank you all we will continue to work on Bit Shifter it’s you all keeping us going. Sincerely, Jim Horn

Jan 2016 Update Announced

It's now been a little over a month since we released on Steam and we wanted to catch everyone up on all things Bit Shifter. We first want to thank the community for your support. The videos you have made, the reviews, your bug reports and suggestions have been very helpful, thank you and keep them coming. Design can be tough and your insight lets us know if we are going along the right path. On to what have we been doing this past month: the quick answer is “a whole lot” but let's get into it. So first the obvious: we have more levels for you to play, that's a given, but now you will be armed with a new weapon to fight the virus! The Plasma Gun! This rapid fire weapon will lay waste to those pesky Pop Up's but don't get too comfortable, a new enemy is out to get you: the Wingnut.
This flying enemy seeks to destroy you while also spreading virus on the sly. We also included more unlockable power ups and better bug coin pathing for those collectors out there. We are also working on improving the story to Bit Shifter without boring you with walls of text. Story has been on the backburner for us as gameplay was most important. We feel that now is the time to finally get that in working order so expect improvement on that front coming soon. Last but not least we have been working hard on improving performance and controller support. We took the time to re-write a platform layer using SDL2. This paves the way for the Macintosh OSX version and performance improvements. It also allowed us to use the SDL2 game controller class to support more game controllers than just XBox style. If your controller is included here, then we now support it: https://github.com/gabomdq/SDL_GameControllerDB Expect to see this and more in our Jan 2016 update:

  • More Levels
  • New Weapon: Plasma Gun
  • New Flying Enemy: Wingnuts
  • Unlock new items as you level up
  • Game Controller support for more types
  • Native support for Steam Controller
  • Improved story with a fun new villain: Major Malfunction
  • Better multi-monitor support on Linux
  • Bug fixes
We would like to again thank everyone for the continued support and wish everyone a Happy Holiday and a safe and Happy New Year.

* Ship and Weapon Upgrades
* Full Game Controller Support with Natural FPS-style Control

Fighting Virus. Who Says It’s All Fun and Games?

Bit Shifter is a 3D action/strategy game where you fly a hover ship that can pickup and place and heal your robotic soldiers in the war against the virus threatening your PC. It takes place in a futuristic world, inside of your computer, where the viral threat could lead to catastrophic system failure. You play the role of Flash Bios, who pilots a virus fighting vessel called the Scandisc. You must strategically deploy virus fighting robots called Bits, and protect them while they clean up the virus. Where will you put them? Choose wisely because the virus spreads faster down the data paths and if it reaches the Data Stream it will corrupt the whole system!

Bit Shifter has a retro arcade feel and a unique blend of action and strategy elements. The intuitive flight model and the simple strategic premise allow a player to jump right in and have fun while slowly building skills for more advanced play.
