Outbreak is an adaptive game where the evolution game engine is used to create enemies that progressively get better at killing players. Note that the early players of this game may find creatures that are insanely difficult or mind numbingly easy, that should change over time. I will be adding a tutorial and info screens shortly but wanted to test the overall balancing of the game first. As always I welcome all feedback and will try my best to make the game interesting and hopefully enjoyable too! -------------------------------------- This is the final beta version of evolution and thanks to all the feedback* from here and other sources, the game is nearly done! I've been programming on and off most of my life but never got any traction on a full game. Like many aspiring game developers I started a lot of projects but could not get past that one hurdle. The hurdle is different every time but anyone who has ever tried to author a game will confirm that there is usually at least one seemingly insurmountable challenge that keeps you from finishing. Last year I decided to bite the bullet and go for it and joined a game developers meetup as well as the Game Assembly*. The one piece of advice I heard over and over is "Finish it!" and even after I cleared numerous hurdles, I found that the closer I got to the end the more I wanted to walk away. You can never build the exact vision you have and the "cut corners" or compromises start to add up making you want to scrap the whole project and start from scratch. That said, mostly thanks to Unity, many things surpassed what I thought I would be able to do with this concept. I am just happy to have finished an idea that used to stick in my brain like a splinter. This project is still not 100% complete and there are a number of things that I still need to clean up before I move it out of early access. All told, as my first game, I am pleased with the outcome. I hope to improve a bit on future projects and could not be more grateful to all the people who have helped along the way! * Special shout out to: Kelsey King: https://twitter.com/keshiekay Travis Beachamp: https://twitter.com/_samox_ Game Assembly: https://twitter.com/GameAssemblyNH Game Dev Meetup http://www.meetup.com/Southern-NH-GameDev-Group
