Hello and thanks for you interest in my evolution simulator. Before you buy this game know that I am a very small time indie developer. This started out as an experiment to see if I could create a life simulator in the genre of Darwin Bots or BioSim. I've done my best to 'gamify' the simulation but at its heart it is only a simulator. This game is centered around little creatures that develop behaviors over time. I expect only a fraction of people to enjoy this type of game and if you do not enjoy simulators then you probably wont like this game. I would much rather sell the game to a small handful of people who enjoy this genre than thousands who don't. If you do purchase this game and find it is not what you thought it was please request a refund. Steam is very liberal with their return policy and I am more than happy to see this game played by people who really want it. Thanks again! Grubby

Evolution is now leaving early access, thanks to all who encouraged me and helped make it a better game!

Outbreak is an adaptive game where the evolution game engine is used to create enemies that progressively get better at killing players. Note that the early players of this game may find creatures that are insanely difficult or mind numbingly easy, that should change over time. I will be adding a tutorial and info screens shortly but wanted to test the overall balancing of the game first. As always I welcome all feedback and will try my best to make the game interesting and hopefully enjoyable too! -------------------------------------- This is the final beta version of evolution and thanks to all the feedback* from here and other sources, the game is nearly done! I've been programming on and off most of my life but never got any traction on a full game. Like many aspiring game developers I started a lot of projects but could not get past that one hurdle. The hurdle is different every time but anyone who has ever tried to author a game will confirm that there is usually at least one seemingly insurmountable challenge that keeps you from finishing. Last year I decided to bite the bullet and go for it and joined a game developers meetup as well as the Game Assembly*. The one piece of advice I heard over and over is "Finish it!" and even after I cleared numerous hurdles, I found that the closer I got to the end the more I wanted to walk away. You can never build the exact vision you have and the "cut corners" or compromises start to add up making you want to scrap the whole project and start from scratch. That said, mostly thanks to Unity, many things surpassed what I thought I would be able to do with this concept. I am just happy to have finished an idea that used to stick in my brain like a splinter. This project is still not 100% complete and there are a number of things that I still need to clean up before I move it out of early access. All told, as my first game, I am pleased with the outcome. I hope to improve a bit on future projects and could not be more grateful to all the people who have helped along the way! * Special shout out to: Kelsey King: https://twitter.com/keshiekay Travis Beachamp: https://twitter.com/_samox_ Game Assembly: https://twitter.com/GameAssemblyNH Game Dev Meetup http://www.meetup.com/Southern-NH-GameDev-Group

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I am still working on the full version of evolution. I may have a small release soon with some changes to the interface, information screens, as well as a brief tutorial to help understand the simulation. Many of the changes are thanks to Kelsey King Kelsey the author of Trials and Errors did a fantastic job of reviewing Evolution. Although many of the suggestions have already been made, she did an unbelievable job of articulating the issues and more importantly, she outlined actionable steps to correct them. If anyone is looking for feedback I would highly recommend reaching out to her. Check out the fine work she has done here: Evolution Review Thanks again!

There are a number of minor fixes such as a more universal Linux build and a slightly better creature selector. I have also included a sneak peak at the ship in Outbreak. Its just a demo and not all the weapons are active yet but its a fair representation of the game play. The weapons will be added in game with power ups and each one can 'level up'. Currently the weapons are all set to max power but the actual power levels will need to be balanced against the creatures. The food for the creatures is red blood cells and a dummy generator is in the level again for demo purposes. Also, the controls are still in progress but it currently has: keyboard support: ctl-select weapon, shift-fire, awsd/arrows-navigate mouse: left/right-fire/select, scroll-zoom standard controller: A-fire, triggers-weapon select, D-pad-zoom, left stick - navigate Any feedback is always appreciated! Thanks, Grubby
