Hello Dear Community A few weeks ago, we have released Chessia. It was a very happy moment for us as we have been wanting to reach out to more people. However things have not went the way we wanted them to. Version 0.29 was buggy and it crashed often. For these reasons, we have been wanting to release a patch as fast as possible, but some unintended problems staggered our progress and the bugs we had to hunt was hidden deep. For more info, see: http://steamcommunity.com/games/689270/announcements/detail/1460717204395924655 Anyways, here is what this update contains; * Fixed player not being able to select or move any piece after new game starts * Fixed pieces and board squares not being referenced in multiplayer mode, which prevented multiplayer gameplay * Fixed game crashing because of a dangling pointer issue caused by a problem with multithreading * Fixed a crash caused because of not properly detecting and storing chess pieces and their types * Fixed a crash caused by garbage collection and other obsolete data clashing by removing unneeded obsolete data that are still loaded * Fixed a crash caused by shared pointer reference count not being thread safe * Fixed a bug where saved chess engine settings wouldnt be applied properly (there is still a bug with saving chess engine options) * Fixed a bug related to standard algebraic notation when pawn promotion happens * Fixed a bug related to standard algebraic notation when there is a check * Fixed a bug causing to stuck at chess engines are loading screen, when game is first run after chess engine installation and a chess engine executable fails to respond in time * Fixed pieces showing up in wrong places when the game is played too fast * Improved how we handle messages between chess engine and game when they are not synched as expected * Improved how pipe communication is done when a lag happens and fixed a possible bug * Added a protocol for what happens if the chess engine crashes unwantedly (this may possibly introduce a new type of bug if a move outside of rules is played) * Added saving when an option is changed (excluding chess engine options as there is a bug with it currently) * Improved how notification bars work * Added proper cleaning for remnant actors when game is restarted or returned to main menu * Made knights of dark pieces properly face opposite side * Increased game limit between same opponents on the same day from 999 to 9999 * Improved how pawn promotion is done * Improved how en passant is done Although this update fixes some important issues, there are still some lingering bugs. We are sorry that you have to experience such things and thanks for showing understanding of our situation. This is our message to community that we will continue to fix whatever problems exists and we will continue to update Chessia. Thanks for waiting patiently. Also, here is a list of what you can expect from version 0.30; * More bugfixes * Improved Interface * Online Gameplay (Possibly) * More Analyze Features (Possibly) But no promises! Oh! As a side note, we encourage you to try pressing WASD/Esc while playing the game :) Have fun and take care.
