Since our last post, weve made quite a lot of headway in development. Not only have we implemented quests, weve also added several quality of life improvements and further fleshed out Stonescript, Stone Storys in-game scripting language. The creative possibilities have continued to expand and become more robust; we cant wait to see how you play! We are currently in the polishing and bug-fixing phase for both technical and content features. Quest implementation has brought up some interesting challenges; for every 1 issue we address, 8 more pop up! The team has been dutifully plugging away at cleanup to ensure that your playtime will be as smooth as possible. Take a look below at some of the things weve got planned for the Quest Update:

Were nearing the end of the tunnel and everythings starting to come together. Weve got an exciting launch schedule planned that the team is hard at work on. Expect more announcements in the near future! As always, we cant thank you enough for all of your continued support. Every single person, new and old, that has picked up Stone Story has been invaluable to the development process. Special thanks go out to our Discord community members, who have been tirelessly workshopping scripts, sharing strategies, and breathing new life into the ASCII art medium! Development Update
Since our last post, weve made quite a lot of headway in development. The team has been dutifully plugging away at cleanup to ensure that your playtime will be as smooth as possible. Take a look below at some of the things weve got planned for the Quest Update:
A former member of the Council of Five, Uulaa now spends her days lounging and looking after her children. She may prove to be a useful contact! If you can find her
A chest of gold! What treasures could await within?
Now you see them, now you dont. Those Charlatans are crafty fellows.
The Quest Update will take you on mystifying adventures spanning the breadth of the Dark World. Some old faces may even show up in your travels (not all of them friendly).
Weve added various quality of life improvements to the Stonescript workflow. One such change is an old feature request from our community: You no longer need to manually navigate to script folders!

Our audio wizard Rafael is back with some incredible new work. This track in particular is used for the Skeleton Factory, a scene from one of the upcoming quests.

Stone Story - OST
In a realm of perpetual evil, a single stone could change everything.
Stone Story is an RPG set in a dark and vile world. The game's fluid ascii art is painstakingly animated in plain text by a single insane game developer. The game has been in development since 2014 and is presently in closed beta testing. It features 8 locations to explore, 8 boss fights, mind-blowing ascii cutscenes and plenty of loot to discover.
The casual play contrasts with the retro visuals, providing a unique experience that blends nostalgia with modern design principles. One of the game's defining mechanics is that you have no direct control of the player character. You choose what items to equip, which location to visit and relax while an artificial intelligence does all the exploring, combat and looting. That doesn't mean this is an idle game. Potions and special abilities are maximized by good timing. Boss fights are intense and can keep you at the edge of your seat, requiring quick item swaps if the boss changes patterns. Additionally, an item crafting system allows you to combine otherwise disposable items--rewarding experimentation, giving you interesting choices and making full use of all the gathered loot.
Initial language support is English, Portuguese and Chinese. Further localization will be added based on regional demand.
