"The Initiate" - Now Available
Stone Story RPG adds its newest Legend, The Initiate! Uncover the mysterious rites and rituals of the cryptic Cult of Nagaraja. Shadow an aspiring initiate as they take on the Great Worms perilous trials.
The Initiate is a special Legend, as its the first direct sequel to another Quest: Roof Overhead. As you play through The Initiate we hope you enjoy the work weve put into fleshing out our vision of the Dark World (and all its oddball characters). From the beginning, Quests have been an opportunity for us to expand upon the foundation of Stone Story RPG. We believe in the games core design, and its incredibly exciting for us to see how far weve been able to stretch our creative muscles!
As part of the new Quest, Stone Story RPG will also be running Challenge Event VI - Rite of Passage, which runs from March 18 to 23. All players who participate in this event will receive the Cultist Mask, a powerful Lost Item* that further deepens your arsenal. Wield the power of Nagaraja and summon the Great Worm to aid you in battle! *Lost Items are rare pieces of loot that can be obtained outside of limited-time events. Stonscripters and ASCII artists alike, prep your Mind Stones for another StoneJam! Its been a while since weve held our community-focused scripting jam, and StoneJam 5 will be coming up soon! What better way to start off the new year than with a chance to flex your metaphorical Mind Stone muscles? Below are just some of the creative submissions for StoneJam 4; we hope they inspire you to build something of your own!
If youve been following the game since we released into Early Access (or even before!), youve seen just how much this game and its community have grown. Stone Story RPG began with a handful of wild ideas, ideas that youve seen become reality in things like The Quest Update, harder difficulties, and Lost Items. If youve followed us for some time, youre also aware of just how much we like to plan ahead! To that end, the SSRPG team will soon be redirecting development resources towards launching mobile. What does this mean for Quests and other in-game content? Well, for starters it means that this is an opportunity for us to scale development up even further! The rough plan now is to finish development and exit EA with console launches. The revenue gained from this will go towards funding mobile development and, should things go according to plan, allow us to push out Green Difficulty and other new in-game content! Weve spent a lot of time thinking about the best way to move forward for both the team and our community. Event Details:
- Complete the quest The Initiate to obtain the Cultist Mask.
- At the end of (note: event name), participants will receive (note: What is the loot?)
- To proceed with the Challenge, players must complete a series of goals. Each goal completed (note: need event details)
- Each goal requires you to use the Cultist Mask in creative ways.
- (Note: Events may repeat, and all gameplay-related rewards can still be obtained through normal play. Enchantments can also be removed from the event loot and placed on another item.) (note: this bullet point dependent on loot)

In a realm of perpetual evil, a single stone could change everything.
Stone Story is an RPG set in a dark and vile world. The game's fluid ascii art is painstakingly animated in plain text by a single insane game developer. The game has been in development since 2014 and is presently in closed beta testing. It features 8 locations to explore, 8 boss fights, mind-blowing ascii cutscenes and plenty of loot to discover.
The casual play contrasts with the retro visuals, providing a unique experience that blends nostalgia with modern design principles. One of the game's defining mechanics is that you have no direct control of the player character. You choose what items to equip, which location to visit and relax while an artificial intelligence does all the exploring, combat and looting. That doesn't mean this is an idle game. Potions and special abilities are maximized by good timing. Boss fights are intense and can keep you at the edge of your seat, requiring quick item swaps if the boss changes patterns. Additionally, an item crafting system allows you to combine otherwise disposable items--rewarding experimentation, giving you interesting choices and making full use of all the gathered loot.
Initial language support is English, Portuguese and Chinese. Further localization will be added based on regional demand.
