On the Islands, enjoy a tropical island paradise by day and summon the legendary Kraken by night! Stir up some chaos for your friends by ringing the Krakens bell, and dodge its deadly tentacles under the moonlight!
In Toxic Tower, explore the remains of a polluted factory! Platform across vats of purple sludge, and time your jumps to avoid the bubbling overflow of toxic waste! (Fun fact: The level was inspired by one of the original game jam levels of water tower from 2014!)

Beary Build Event
Were hosting another custom building event for the Pandamonium Update! Send us your bear-themed custom levels and well feature them in Ultimate Chicken Horse! Submit your levels to us by publishing your level and sharing the level code in the Steam comments by 11 PM Pacific Time on May 16. It can be a Party or Challenge level. To make a custom level, go to the Treehouse lobby. Open the pause menu and click the arrows to change your game mode from "Party Mode" to "Free Play Mode". Then go to the underground area of the Treehouse and move to the left to the "Blank Level" section. Now you can make a level! 2023 in a nutshell
Oh boy, what happened this year?! We released the free Shellebration Update that added Turtle and Armadillo and celebrated the game's 7th birthday! We held multiple community custom level events, we launched limited edition merch, we played Ultimate Chicken Horse with you guys online and in-person, we fixed a ton of complex server issues, and we made incredible progress with our new project. How do I play for free?
- Go to the Ultimate Chicken Horse store page. - Click the "Play Game" button, which will download the game and add it to your Steam library. - Find the game in your Steam library. You'll be able to play until the end of the free weekend (Sept 11 at 1PM PST)! Also, the new lobby invite code changes are live. You can read about in detail in our last announcement here. Hey party animals! In an upcoming update, we're going to change how invite codes for players' lobbies work in Ultimate Chicken Horse. Currently, your invite code stays the same no matter what. In the upcoming update (a few weeks from now), you'll have the ability to generate a new invite code every time you host a lobby, or save your invite code so that it stays the same between games. Right now, you can SAVE your current invite code if you like it and want to keep it. Otherwise, this invite code will be WIPED once the update comes out. But if you don't care about your lobby code, there's no action to take.
How do you SAVE your lobby invite code?
- Open Ultimate Chicken Horse, press "Play Online" and host a lobby. - When in-game at the Treehouse, open the pause menu and click "Lobby". - Click on the **** to reveal your 4-letter code. - If you want to save your code for future games, click the checkbox to "Freeze Invite Code". Your code will stay the same until you uncheck the box (and the new update is released).

Hello everyone! Were back after a few months of work on Ultimate Chicken Horse with version 1.10.06 on all platforms. We addressed several server issues that came up during the Shellebration Update, changed how voting works on community-made custom levels, and added a new song to the OST. Plus some other minor changes. Read below for more, and join the Ultimate Chicken Horse Discord to keep up-to-date with all things Chicken and Horse!
Server refactor
After the Shellebration Update, we had more players online than ever before. (Wow, thank you!) However, our servers were not prepared for the sheer number of people enjoying the game. This resulted in players experiencing many server desync issues like endless loading screens, getting stuck in the party box, placed blocks not showing up, and lobbies randomly shutting down. Weve just completed a server refactor to address these desync issues and prevent them from happening in the future. It also gives us the ability to add more servers to high traffic regions whenever we have a big influx of new players. :) We also addressed a country-wide connection issue for players in Korea. As of today, everyone in Korea should be able to connect and play online again! Thank you for your patience and bug reports - there were many Korean players who helped us solve the problem by sending us their player logs. If you experience any server issues or bugs, please report them to the developers in the Ultimate Chicken Horse Discord.
Downvotes removed from custom levels
We removed downvotes from the voting system for custom/community-made levels! Downvotes were not being used in a way that was useful or kind to our community, which warranted their removal. If you dont enjoy a level, you now have the choice to upvote it or ignore it. (Note that you can still report levels that break our community rules!)

The games soundtrack just got a new song! It now has the Shellebration track which plays during the Metro level.
Quality of life changes

Hi everyone, there's an issue with crossplay between PC and consoles! However, there is a temporary solution, so please read below! We just released a new update on Steam/PC to fix various server issues, including a serious connection bug for players in Korea. Crossplay was impacted because our console platforms have not yet received the same update, creating a game version mismatch. Thankfully, there's a solution if you really want to play together with your console pals!
Temporary solution for crossplay between PC and consoles
If you're a PC player and want to play with your console friends, you just need to switch to our Steam beta branch for Ultimate Chicken Horse. To do this, right-click Ultimate Chicken Horse in the Steam Library. Go to properties, open the "Betas" tab, and select the "crossplay-1.10.05 - Old build with console crossplay" version from the dropdown menu. Restart your Steam if the game doesn't update automatically. Just remember to switch back to "None" in the Betas tab if you want to play with people on the newest build of the game.
Note that this WILL NOT WORK if you are in Korea - this is due to server problem that's been affecting this entire region, and only the newest build fixes it. If you're experiencing problems with getting crossplay to work with this solution, please just join the Ultimate Chicken Horse Discord, and the moderators will help you out there.

Dont miss your train! Navigate the underground metro by sprinting across the roofs of train cars as they thunder by. Place building blocks and traps to fill the gaps between the station platforms, or risk falling into the deadly electrified rails! Make it to the opposite platform without being flattened to win! The Metro level features several historic train stations straight from our studios home: Montreal, Canada.

It's that time again where we ask for some of them themed levels, but now we're looking for HALLOWEEN inspired ones!
Submit your Halloween levels in halloween-level-submissions by Oct 25th, 10:00 am EST and we'll feature up to 15 of them in the following weeks.
Here are a couple of prompts to spark your creative juices:
- Pumpkins and Gourds
- Black cats and bats
- Scary Clowns
- Witchcraft
- The full Moon
There are two types of levels you can submit: a party level or a challenge level. A good feature party level:
- Has a good balance of aesthetics/theme and gameplay
- Has the flag visible and easy to access
- [OPTIONAL] Can be completed in challenge mode for our speedrunners
- Isnt too easy, it should have some level of challenge to it (so its not just run straight to the right for an automatic goal)
- Isnt too difficult either. It shouldnt include difficult techniques, require every move to be precise,
- Includes our level submission theme!
Ultimate Chicken Horse version 1.9.02 is now Live!
Here's a reminder of what to expect: Both of the services that the game uses for all of the online content and online multiplayer had to be replaced. The game should work exactly as it did before, but you may notice some strangeness in this transitional period:
- Extremely new content (levels, votes, challenge times) may be lost if they were posted between the last time we grabbed data and now. We'll work to retrieve that if we can. We should be able to at least retrieve the newest levels in the coming days.
- Many older uploaded levels will be missing. Due to technical constraints, we weren't able to migrate every single level that had ever been uploaded. We've managed to migrate over 200,000 levels that were either popular or created in the last year. You can use the "My Levels" filter to see which of your published levels made it over. If any of your levels seem to be missing but you still have a local copy saved, feel free to publish it again!
- Almost all of the data besides uploaded levels should be present and visible. This includes level statistics, high scores and your personal bests. Note that in places where a username is shown, if the associated user comes from data that was migrated the display name will be whatever it was at that time and may not update if that same user changes their display name in the future.
Patch Notes
Features:
- Added crossplay with Xbox. All platforms can now play together!
- Replaced the GameSparks server solution with BrainCloud, this now handles all player authentication, level uploads, level bans, challenge times, user bans, etc.
- Added "Tournament" as a preset. These rules were suggested to us by the community.
- Added new Farmhands, Syd (community manager) and SuperNimbus (team we worked with for server changes) to the credits
- Fixed animal icons navigating inventory sometimes lose their costumes
- Characters dance sound continues when jumping directly from dance
- Lots of bug fixes involving the changes that were made to the servers
Hello! Our patch is coming out shortly (this Tuesday) and we have lots of info to throw your way! The patchs purpose is to move servers and tweak some bugs. However, we're also not solidly sure what issues may appear while the levels are porting from new users from one server to the next, so we would advise the following during this transition period of 48 hours: - Dont make any new levels during this transition period! - Dont try to beat any high scores! - Dont upvote/downvote anything! In short: save your creativity/speedruns for two days later! Now, for the GOOD stuff: - Did someone ask for Xbox cross-play? Well, we heard you! Everyone is now able to play with everyone! But - It should be known that Xbox Gamertags are displayed as anonymous in leaderboards and results screens, this is normal and expected. This is due to Xboxs legal standards and set-up, not something on our end. - As a tiny gift to our lovely community, weve added a tournament rules preset [details here]. If you have any concerns/questions about the rules, thats something to chat about with the community as they were created upon request :) - Weve updated the credits! Thanks to everyone who has helped us since our last edit of them. - Because of all of the changes to the back-end, there have been some wonky things about challenge scores, users, etc. Please report anything you see! - There is a possibility that we might lose the ability to click on a player's score on a level in order to open up their profile on Steam. Since were not getting warmer weather in real life, wed love to celebrate spring with you in Ultimate Chicken Horse.

As a reminder: You can make custom levels in Free Play mode. Then open the Menu, go to Save and Share Level, save your level Online as a Public level, and Publish to get the shareable level code!
We'll be sharing levels throughout the month every Friday and post a highlight of the best levels here on Steam at the end of the month. Send in either Party levels and/or Challenge levels, we hope to see a good mix!

New Character: Hippopotamus
Large and in-charge, Hippopotamus (Hippo for short) joins the Ultimate Chicken Horse cast! This groovy critter is ready to boogie the house down! Dont let the goofy smile fool you, Hippo is a real contender for the Ultimate title.
Alternative Skin: Triceratops
Head all the way back to the Cretaceous period with Hippos alternative skin, Triceratops! This alternative Hippo skin is compatible with all of the regular Hippo accessories. How did Triceratops safely join the rest of the animals? No one really knows, but we heard it had something to do with a very special car...
New Outfits
Once youve become acquainted with Hippo, youll be able to unlock these nifty accessories for Hippo and Triceratops: Cowboy boots: While Hippo usually has dancing shoes on, sometimes they get swapped out for these trusty boots. Balloon: Picked up from the fairground, its name is Wilson. Floatie: Hippo cant swim, so they need this device when they go to the pool with the other animals.
Despite being in the game title, Horse has always been one accessory short, compared to the other critters. But fear not, we bought Horse a new outfit! Horse loved it so much we made sure to provide 7 different colour variations: blue, orange, green, purple, red, pink and yellow. While Horse is convinced the outfit is streamlined for speed, it doesnt do much other than look cool.
New Level: Rollercoaster
The whole cast and crew have ventured off to the local theme park and a certain attraction has caught their eye: this speeding roller coaster! Once unlocked, this map will have players placing blocks and traps that allow them to safely pass under the tracks and on to the finish line on another piece of totally safety-compliant scaffolding. Make sure to keep your appendages away from the ride at all times; it will send you right to the grave if you get too close!

A Note About Future Updates
First off, thank you to everyone who has played Ultimate Chicken Horse over the past 5+ years. This game is what it is today thanks to your love and support, and were so incredibly grateful that weve been able to support it for so many years! This update took so much longer to come out versus our initial prediction, and we want to share some context as to why. Last year we discovered that the online architecture we use was going to be retired in the next few years so we started looking for alternatives. We have every intention of keeping Ultimate Chicken Horse functional for as long as we can. Unfortunately, what seemed like a simple thing to change ended up being not so simple at all. The solutions we found werent compatible with the Unity version we have used since the games conception and upgrading it to the 2020 version caused a bunch of plugins to break, new issues cropped up on various platforms and so much more. This work already would have taken much longer than expected and it was just made significantly worse with COVID. The original work we had set out to do was taking so much longer than planned, that we made the decision to release new content now rather than wait for the more technical backend architecture to be completed. This update was also undertaken in tandem with our new project at Clever Endeavour Games - something were extremely excited to be working on! If we were a larger studio, we could probably continue to update Ultimate Chicken Horse while working on a new IP. The reality is that were only 6 people and this update has already significantly impacted the development of our new title. (If you want to stay up to date with our latest title, sign up for our newsletter.) While we are not saying there wont ever be new content for Ultimate Chicken Horse, this is the last content update that we have planned for the foreseeable future. We know this will be sad or disappointing for some - there are so many great ideas for new characters, levels, modes and so much more. For us, too, it feels a bit scary as we move into new territory. To be clear, this does not mean were completely shutting down the game. We just spent so much time and energy on making sure this game lasts for as long as it can!! Were still going to finish the online architecture update, continue featuring levels on LevelNET, host events on Discord, and answer support tickets. As long as theres a community to support it and were able to, we want to keep this party going. So keep sending us your Ultimate Chicken Horse fan art, ideas, and concepts - it keeps us inspired for the future! Note that all of Clever Endeavour will be on vacation for the next two weeks, so there will not be the regular Feature Friday updates in that period.

Winter is rapidly approaching for us in the Northern hemisphere, so were getting ready to celebrate the Holidays and the New Year. To do so, we would like to feature YOUR Winter-themed levels in Ultimate Chicken Horse at the end of December!
Here are some examples of what were looking for:
- Candy canes, hot chocolate, and gingerbread houses
- Scarves, mittens, and tuques
- Skis, sleds, and ice skates
- Igloos, snow forts, and snowmen

Hello, Ultimate Animals!
As the longest year in our mortal existence comes to an end, the time has come to celebrate with the 2020 edition of the Steam Awards!
Most of the awards are (rightfully) dedicated to games that came out this past year, with the unique exception of the Labor of Love Award. That one is reserved for games that have been out for a while now, but which the devs continue to nurture and support.
Though it feels like a lifetime ago now, our big A-cobra-tic Update came out in March this year, on the 4th anniversary of the game. If you have enjoyed this update, we'd ask you to consider nominating Ultimate Chicken Horse for the Labor of Love Award!
You might also be happy to hear that, despite the fact that we are now mostly focusing our energy on prototyping new projects, we do have plans for a small content update early next year! As usual, it will be absolutely free, and available to all.

You might have noticed that we just pushed a small patch to Ultimate Chicken Horse.
Here's what's in it:
- Reduced redundant calls to the online servers
- Improved performance in the Treehouse
- Improved performance on the Space level
- Adjusted the bounds of the Space level so the camera zooms out less
- Adjusted the placement of unlock boxes on Space
- Fixed the "Randomize" button's text spill once pressed
- Fixed poor title alignment on the Lobby list
- Fixed text fit issues and grammatical errors in multiple languages
- Fixed a visual glitch in the unlock message for Snake

We've told you previously that we were working on a new update for Ultimate Chicken Horse, and the good news is that it's almost here!
You'll have to wait just a little bit more for the trailer and the release date announcement, but in the meantime, we wanted to tell you what you can expect in very broad terms:
That's right: We'll be adding a new character, two levels, and four blocks to the game!

We would like your help with that!
We want to feature 15 thematically appropriate levels in Ultimate Chicken Horse on February 14th, and we want them to be YOUR levels. Some ideas of what were looking for:

Did you see that you can nominate games for the Steam Awards during the Autumn Sale?
Most awards are reserved for games that came out in the past year, but there's one important exception: the Labor of Love Award.
Here's the description:
"This game has been out for a while. The team is well past the first unveiling of their creative baby, but being the good parents they are, these devs continue to nurture and support their creation. This game, to this day, is still getting new content after all these years."
As we're working on another free content update for Ultimate Chicken Horse which should come out in early 2020 - just before the game's 4th anniversary (!) - we're hoping that maybe you all feel like the game might deserve a nomination for the Labor of Love Award!
The award description also rings especially familiar to us right now, considering that two of our six team members have each become literal parents to literal babies in the past 5 months. This is kind of a huge change to our pacing at work, and at the same time we're trying to mature as a studio, and just do what's best for our little work family.
It's quite the adventure, and we're super thankful to have a wonderful community to support us in this transitional period.
And we'd love for the community to keep growing!

We don't know if you've heard, but Steam has rolled out a Beta feature that allows you to play your favorite local multiplayer games... online! What this means is that you can easily connect with your Steam friends to play games as if they were sitting right next to you. And this feature works with Ultimate Chicken Horse!
What's the difference with regular online play in Ultimate Chicken Horse?
Mainly it's this: You only need one copy of the game to play with up to three of your online friends.
The Beta feature arrived on October 21st, but since late last week it was made available to every Steam user, so it's easier for everyone to access it.

As you might have noticed, were featuring new user-made levels in Ultimate Chicken Horse every Friday to shine the spotlight on the creators in our community. This month, we want to double down on celebrating yall by running this spooky Steam event!
All month, well be gathering levels to be featured in the game on October 31st. Some examples of what were looking for:
- Halloween-themed pixel art and color schemes in Party levels!
- Haunting Challenge levels, for example set in the Old Mansion or involving Ghosts!
(These are just some ideas to get you thinking - we welcome your creativity!)
Want to participate and get your spooky level featured in the game on Halloween?
Just share your level codes in the comments below! We will look at them all and choose which to feature at the end of the month. 15 levels will be chosen! Well make an Announcement on October 31st when the featured levels are live.

- Turning into a Ghost will keep the Challenge Mode timer running until you give up or fall into a pit, allowing your dead body to complete the Challenge
- Fixed bug with Dead Hop that could cause a 0:00:00 time to be recorded in Challenge Mode
- Fixed bug that allowed respawning characters to trigger coin pickup from a distance
- Fixed an issue with shift-rotated platforms moving incorrectly when placed

The Elephantastic Update for Ultimate Chicken Horse is now live!
The update comes with a new animal (can you guess which one?), new levels, new platforms, and a ton of improvements concerning bugs, connectivity, stability and more. Check out the trailer below:
We're also introducing Challenge Mode, a brand new game mode where you can test your platforming skills in user created levels, and compete for global best times. This game mode also includes a trending levels list, up-voting and down-voting levels, and cross-platform leaderboards. For more details about what's new in the update, we wrote a longer form blog post here. Note: Cross-play between Steam and PS4 version of the game is not yet functional and will be enabled with a patch to the PS4 version, which should be available very soon.
Today, in conjunction with our Midweek Madness sale, we're announcing the new Level Sharing and Free Play Mode update!

The newest update to Ultimate Chicken Horse comes with a ton of changes and the online portion of the game is now out of Beta! You can hear all about the new changes in this video.
It's time to grab your copy of UCH and play online with friends or join the vibrant community; there are always several matches available online for you to join, and the new updated lobby shows you the best matches possible based on skill, connection quality, and other factors.
We've also added Twitch integration, where Twitch streamers can have their audience vote on which blocks will appear in the Party Box. Once the chosen platform is placed, the names of the people who voted will pop out of it.
Next up is a new level, the Pier!
This level features a giant wave that the players need to run away from... don't get caught underneath! The level makes for an interesting dynamic when players have to place obstacles on the path with the added pressure of constantly needing to move forward quickly.
Our newest block added to the game is a punching plant which gets angry when you come near it, then punches out in a fit of flowery rage a second later. If you get caught in its range, you may regret it.
We're pretty excited to have these updates out, and we're still working hard on the game. Next up is a big new feature, please follow us on your favourite social media site to stay informed!

It's the Steam Summer Sale!!!
With it, Ultimate Chicken Horse has gotten some major online updates: there's no more "Beta branch" for online play, we've improved connectivity, added clearer messaging, and generally improved the whole online experience to make it much more playable. We are still keeping the online mode labeled as "Beta" because we will be constantly updating it, improving it and fixing the remaining bugs. You can check the full Update Log for a full list of improvements.
In this update, we're also including a bit of a preview for new content to come! We've added a new block, the horizontal moving block, which should open up a whole new world of possibilities of movement, placement and screwing with your friends:
We're planning on rolling out more content once the online Beta is out of Beta, but we wanted to give you a quick tease.
Last but certainly not least, we're announcing the official UCH soundtrack with a great new bundle!
The soundtrack was made by the amazingly talented Vibe Avenue, contains 12 tracks and over 40 minutes of sweet tunes. It also features live instruments: trumpets, saxophones, flutes, whistles, banjos, guitars, harmonica and more!

It's been a while since our last announcement, where we mentioned that the online beta would be coming soon. Well, we've got good news for you! It's actually been out for a little while, but previously people had been having issues connecting and had been experiencing game-breaking bugs. This announcement brings some important changes :)
Online Improvements
- No more need for port forwarding
- Scoring system works properly and games end at the right time

Next Steps?
We're working on making sure that the online play is seamless and there are no game-breaking bugs, so that's the highest priority. We've also started looking into setting up server lists so that you can join a game online without needing to have friends! I mean... without needing to invite friends to play online. This will act as a sort of "matchmaking", and we may look into doing real matchmaking at some point, but that will come later. Ultimate Chicken Horse will be launching with a fully stable, relatively bug-free local version (in the main branch) and with online multiplayer coming to the beta branch extremely soon. This was a stretch goal that we just barely didn't reach during our Kickstarter campaign, but we decided to do it anyway because we knew people would appreciate it and we knew that it would help us make the game as awesome as it deserves to be.
