Jet Racing Extreme: The First Encounter - forever


Today we would like to make an important announcement. First of all, thanks to all who remain with us, write us feedback and suggestions of improvement, we really appreciate it. Haters, thank you too. Our long absence was due to the fact that there was a lot of contract work and, in general, was not the easiest time for us. The good news for all of us is that now we are doing all the new projects on UE4. We spent a lot of time for learning, migrating our art into UE4, analyzing features and possibilities. Unity3D engine will remain in the past forever. In this regard, Jet Racing Extreme will be! But it will be a completely new game, however with the same gameplay that you liked so much. Self-destruction will be as easy as before, and the engines will be as powerful as before, in general, everything you loved, only on a completely different level of impression.
As for this game, which was stuck in early access, it was difficult for us to make a decision. Many of you like it, many hate it, but it was unique. there is no similar game, so we decided to leave it as is and let it be Jet Racing Extreme: The First Encounter! Conclusions were made, mistakes were taken into account, we must move forward. Early access has ended. JREX - The Future


Hey Racers! There's been a lot of speculation recently as to what the future of JREX will be. First of all can I say what a pleasure it has been to moderate this small community, I've met some amazing people, including Sergey, the developer and various other people. In regards to the future of the project, there has been some discussion on the forums and between a few select people, and in short, the project will no longer continue as it currently is. Project news!

Hi fans! We hope you're not too bored without us there. We got a little distracted by another customer project for financial reasons. At the end of the text there is a link to the video who are interested. ------------ About JReX game. We thought long and summed up the development. Many of you liked the project, this is very encouraging, however, we came to the conclusion that the project needs rethinking. Judging by your feedback, we could get to your emotions. Someone liked the game for realism, someone for a spectacular disaster, and someone broke the keyboard trying to learn control. It's cool! We decided that we will continue, however, on another engine (Unreal Engine 4) and we will completely remake the gameplay. Why UE4? Because Unity stopped supporting 4th version and 5th version is not suitable to develop racing project(due to physics). In the latest version of UE4 Epic has made great changes to the wheel physics, allowing to make the adequate physics behavior. This was a big problem in both engines Unreal and Unity. The work will take us some time, maybe this will be a new project with a different name, but to all JReX players we guarantee free migration. By the way, it would be nice to organize the community for this topic to collect and organize your wishes. So guys, a new update.

In this update we worked on your requests and made some technical improvements. The most significant:

  • Completely new activation system. More stable and torrent-resistant.
  • Cloud data storage. Save your game progress in cloud.
  • Public lobby chat room. Now you can chat with any player who is online now. Also, this system will notice you when someone wants to play multiplayer.
  • Vehicle fragments friction model redesigned. There was an issue with physics that makes some tracks unplayable (crash landings on ramp) Read an explanation in forum;
  • Vehicle stiffness improved;
  • Controls improved (autopilot and settings);
  • Joystick deadzone (someone asked in forum);
Thanks to everyone who likes the game and who understands what is early access. If you have something to say about gameplay or something else, write about it in the forum. P.S. If you are updating from the previous version the game will transit to new data model and shutdown immediately. Just start again, it is normal behaviour.

New build has been published

Hi! Today we have published new build beta. You can test all new features, especially controls. New key mappings: C - drag chute. Press to engage, and then press again to disengage. Please note that the drag chute will be automatically disabled at speed lower than 200kmh. J - manual ejection. If you feel the death breath you can eject immediately. Also you can tune automatical ejection parameters in car tuning tab. When you activate 2A42 cannon you will enable Buggy bots game mod. To disable it just turn off cannon (dont sell, just switch off). ------------------------------------------------------------------ Android version of IRS controller is available here: http://real-dynamics.ru/files/irs/irs_beta2.apk if it doesnt work on your device try this: http://real-dynamics.ru/files/irs/irs_beta1.apk iOS version currently is under Apple review procedure. Trading cards is under Valve's review too. IRS controller has its own tutorial. Please pass it before using. You must have WiFi router in your home network to run IRS controller. Your PC and Smartphone must be in the same local area network segment. IRS will detect JReX game automatically, no setting needed. Since today the updates will be released on a regular basis. The long-awaited update

Hi guys! Sorry to have kept you waiting a new build so long. Work did not stop even for a minute. After we did the buggy bots, we noticed the fundamental problems of physics that we would fix quickly. But the quick fix was failed, as you can see. The details of what we had to face is here: https://youtu.be/0g-3VoioQBM https://youtu.be/EJjuTm7bzTw Also we tried to port the game to Unreal Engine, but still no success. It has the same physics problems as Unity 5. So, now we left on Unity4 with it's stable and most realistic wheel physics ( but quite buggy ). So, what was done.

  • Physics of fracture rewritten. Now the car became more stable, oscillations of the separate parts become much less noticeable. It affected the dynamics and management, hence the next paragraph:
  • Vehicle dynamics rewritten, the weight distribution of the vehicle changed. Now it is more natural. In the previous version we had to use unrealistic tricks to hide the peculiarities of the physics engine.
  • Completely redesigned autopilot and all control systems.
  • Reworked textures, now the standard texture resolution is 4096. We also added more fine details.
  • Pilot ragdoll redesigned for a more realistic behavior.
  • Drag chute added. You can buy it in parts shop.
  • Eject seat added. Save your ass in serious disasters.
  • Inertial controller. (based on smartphone) We had to tinker with this thing since involved a lot of buttons and knobs in the machine control. We wanted to make the most convenient inertial controller.
  • Small changes in the gameplay. The fun becomes greater if you have a gun.
  • Bot's AI modified. Now they know how to go around tricky obstacles, so be careful.
  • Realistic physics of explosions (on the basis of practical formulas for TNT).
  • Optimization of the world props textures for best performance.
Non-significant changes:
  • Sounds redesigned;
  • Differential sound effect (different engine sound from front point and back point of view);
  • some fonts improved;
  • Sound settings;
  • Exclusive metal-style tracks;
  • Main menu camera improvements;
Please be patient, do not write that we abandoned the development. Only two people working on this project, one of which is the artist. A huge update

Greetings jet racers! We've been working for two months to give you this major update. -------------------------------------------- Release notes: This is a completely new game. Almost all redesigned and rewritten. Most important changes:

  • New physics. Airborne stability systems added (can be disarmed).
  • New controls (old controls are still an option for fans).
  • The vehicle is redesigned to the core: engines, boosters, internal components. Also we added front suspension and interceptors.
  • New exhaust effects - flames, and headlights.
  • New vehicle skins.
  • New UI.
  • New camera.
  • A lot of new art, for example some beautiful tunnels.
  • The parts shop is now completely redesigned (You can sell parts and switch between upgrade levels). No microtransactions.
  • Fully redesigned pilot.
  • New tracks, including a clear speed track without any obstruction (per your request).
  • A complete manual.
Notice: All available tracks and game modes will be published when we decide to move from early access to full release. While the canyon territory is designed to be fairly simple the new tracks will offer a tougher challenge. Enjoy!

Dear friends! We present you a small roadmap about the upcoming update. So, the screenshots first:



What was done since the last release:

  • A completely new UI (Aerospace HUD styled);
  • Vehicle completely redesigned;
  • New skins (10 standard and six premium-class);
  • Shaders rewritten to support physical effects;
  • Improved lighting and visual appearance;
  • A completely new controls (we heard you), but the old controls is also available;
  • Rewritten parts shop, it is now possible to switch between the stock parts and upgraded;
  • A new feature - inertial joystick. Now you have more comfort and flexible controls;
  • Improved compatibility with other joysticks and steering wheels;
  • Rewritten aerodynamics and physics;
  • Rewritten camera behaviour;
  • AI test mode;
  • Fixed bugs and inaccuracies.
And, of course, there are new locations in development! About dates: we wanted to publish last weekend, but did not. There are unfinished tasks here. We will try as soon as possible.

There is no in-app payments in Steam version of the game.

Some users posted about in-game purchases, and provided screenshots of the store. Lets look to the last one. The user has 16k barrels (look at the top right corner), two items already purchased and he tried to buy something else. Interesting what? May be "All upgrades" package? For what if he already has enough barrels for ALL upgrades? So, guys, you can buy something absolutely useless (just if you want to support us) but it is not necessary. In-app purchases is actual for free version. Just remember this and don't post inappropriate screenshots. Thanks.

XBox 360 Controller support

Now this controller is fully supported. You can map controls as you wish. This control scheme is recommended as default:

  • Right trigger - throttle;
  • Left trigger - wheel brake;
  • Left stick - steering;
  • Right stick X: direct steering;
  • Right stick Y: Airbrake;
Map buttons as you need. The controller was tested on Windows and OSX platforms.
