Greetings Agents! This update addresses a number of small issues : All leaderboards should now show correct positioning and be the same as the position shown in the MORE leaderboard on the end of mission screen. Also players using the same or similar user names on multiple platforms will only have the score they just achieved on the last run highlighted. For our console players please look out for updates coming to both Swicth and Xbox asap! Thank you for the continued support and keep Slaying! Meg

Greetings Agents, Last week we welcomed a whole lot of Xbox and Switch players to the Damsel community, and plenty more are still to come. Don't forget the special handshake when you see them on the street! Since earlier in the year, the Damsel leaderboards have been universal, that means that all scores from all platforms hit the same leaderboard and you can compare yourself to anyone who is playing, no matter how they get their vampire killing fix. You're not yet able to link to the same profile across multiple platforms, but it's something we're willing to look at should the demand be high enough. We're also keeping an eye on our different platforms to make sure that the gameplay is fair across different environments, if it looks like Switch for example is at a disadvantage because of how the game is playing there, we will spin it off onto its own leaderboards. Finally, now that we're done getting the console versions out the door, we're back to digging into bug fixes and updates across all platforms. Things that we're addressing with urgency are some issues with the PC version of the game failing to save some options when you quit, as well as adjusting some of the times of the Red Mist challenges that were maybe a little too tight (we want you to get all those achievements!). Thanks again everyone for your continued support, and we'll see you on the (now universal) leaderboards! -Anthony.

Greetings Agents! We've just sent a new version of Damsel out into the world! This version is just a quick bug fix update to address some issues we had with achievements not unlocking / unlocking too much. That is all sorted now and your achievements should unlock correctly as well as being trackable via the community page. Also, I couldn't help myself, don't tell the producer, but I slipped in two additional small tweaks to the game. Firstly, your current Red Mist rank will be displayed next to the timer during challenge missions, this allows you to see how quickly you need to beat a level to secure that coveted 'A' ranking. Also, now when playing a Hothead mission, your skull combo will start automatically, this ups the challenge a little bit, but it makes the experience just that little more entertaining. That's it for now, keep your eyes peeled later this week for the release of all this stuff, but with a decidedly linuxy and maccy flavour. - Anthony

Greetings Agents, It's been a long time between bites but we're back with a HUGE update to Damsel! This time we're releasing episode 3 "Executive Incentives" and it's our biggest episode yet. Bigger arenas and tougher challenges await, as well as a continuation of the story of Damsel's fight against Red Mist. You'll also notice that the game has undergone a complete overhaul in terms of looks! We wanted to really lean into our comic book visuals and much has been done to show off the work of our brilliant comic book artist David Fjalarsson (@DavidThorArt on Twitter, seriously, follow him) PLEASE NOTE: This update may cause some players to lose their game progression. We know this sucks, but it was an unfortunate side effect of the massive update (Which now includes multiple game slots - speedrunners rejoice!). Please forgive the inconvenience. Finally, we'd really like to extend a sincere thanks to all the players that have jumped on board the Damsel train over the last six or so months, as well as providing us with all your feedback. This game is yours, and we want it to be the best it can be. We've got plenty more planned for our plucky slayer so keep letting us know what you like and what sucks, we'll be sure to address what we can. Also, if you want to chat with any of us on the dev team, or discuss speedrunning strategies to get that episode one time below 9 minutes (it's totally possible), feel free to head on over to our discord server at https://discord.gg/g2Rke34 Here's a list of all the things we could remember that have changed :) Episode 3 - Executive Incentives
- 25 new heart pumping missions
- 5 new beautiful environments
- '3 shot' system has been replaced with a more traditional 'single shot with cool down' one. Makes the game easier to understand and provides more consistent gameplay.
- Stake dive no longer ends skull combo
- Skull dashing now releases skulls immediately, the number of skulls is based on the combo level (1-5)
- Introduction of toxic barrels. Toxic barrels will weaken enemies if the barrel is shot in their vicinity.
- Toxic barrels will reduce Damsel's health to a single heart until the player can shoot or punch a health barrel, which restores health to pre-toxic amounts.
- The player is now given a ranking for every Red Mist Challenge they complete.
- The player is now able to create multiple save slots in a game.
- Selecting the game modes Hothead and Chillout have been moved, rather than being able to change mid game you are asked to select a difficulty when you start a new save game.
- New leaderboards have been added to the end of every mission. You can now see the Top Times and Top Scores for every mission.
- The leaderboards in game are now cross-platform. You'll be competing against everyone from PC to Console!
- Five new Steam Achievements to, well, achieve. Can you shoot 20 coffins without touching the ground?
- Fully rebindable controls.
- Quality settings to make the game more stunning if your rig can handle it.
- Issues with the Switch Pro controller.
- Some weird sound effects here and there.
- Some rendering issues with our characters.

Greetings Agents! We've released an update for Damsel. This update mostly contains behind the scenes work for expanding Damsel to multiple platforms, and we're excited to announce that the game is now available for both Linux and macOS. If you do experience issues on these new platforms, let is know and we'll take a look! We've also made some changes that should make the game more accessible for some of our players. We've added some tweaks to the bomb defusal minigame which include marking the bad wires and rumbling the controller on the good wires. We hope these changes will help out those with certain types of colour blindness. We've also added an option to the game that swaps out the default font with OpenDyslexic. We hope that this helps some of our players read the comic panels a little easier, though we understand it's not a fix-all for everyone. If there's a particular change or option you think we can make to enhance or enable your experience, let us know and we'll see what we can do. Here's the full list of changes to the game.
- Linux build live.
- macOS build live.
- Added OpenDyslexic font.
- Timer disabled when chillout mode is active.
- Visual updates to lasers.
- Controller rumble added to bomb hack minigame.
- Visual tweaks added to bomb hack minigame, to aid colourblind players.
- Font and language fixes.
- Shader fixes for certain hardware configs.

Greetings Agents! We've released an update for Damsel. This update addressess some balance issues that we think will make your experience with the game a smoother, more entertaining one. The biggest change is the removal of most of the minigames completely. For some time now, these minigames have been a fairly divisive and we ultimately couldn't make them fit in a nice way with the rest of the gameplay. The core of Damsel is speed and precision, and these minigames weren't contributing to that. The other big change is the increase in Damsel's starting health from one hitpoint to three. One hitpoint was causing frustration for many players and making combat more forgiving means fewer restarts and more time completing missions. Damsel is most enjoyable when you get into the flow of movement and combat and too many deaths took away that opportunity. Here is the complete list of changes.
- Remove all minigames except hostage rescue and bomb diffusal.
- Lower amount of skull combo required for first super skull to one.
- Increase starting health on all missions to three.
- Lower damage of rockets to two hit points (previously three).
- Address issue with some controllers not connecting correctly.
- Hacking a server will now spawn two chellenge enemies.
- Cracking a safe will now spawn three skulls.
- Fix bug where best time is incorrectly recorded.
- Fix bug where 0% accuracy is incorrectly reported on mission complete screen.
- Increase reload speed of shotgun.
- Fix bug where hostages could be shot when just off screen.
- Fix bug in bad tutorial that may help better explain the concept of skull dashing.
- Fix some bad translations that were showing an error.

For those anxious about the rate we've been pushing out fixes, don't fear, our programmer (me) will me back in the studio after a quick post PAXAUS detour and will be getting fixes and improvements out on a much more regular basis. It is with great pleasure that we announce that Damsel will be leaving Steam Early Access on the 19th of October!
On release, Damsel will feature two episodes, "Market Research" and "Supply Chain Management" with episode three, "Executive Incentives" following closely after. The episodes contain all the great gameplay you've enjoyed during early access with the addition of beautifully illustrated comic cut-scenes that take Damsel on her adventure into the bloody world of the corporate vampire.
At the same time, the weekly challenge will continue on as the "Damsel Dash" and the stakes will be higher than ever. From launch, the winner of the weekly "Damsel Dash" will be in the running to win prizes, including exclusive Damsel merch that will make you the envy of everyone you know.
Lastly, we'd like to thank everyone that has downloaded and played Damsel during Early Access for all the valuable feedback and positive reviews you have given us. You have made the game so much more than what we thought it could be, and we really hope you continue to enjoy what we've made.
See you on the leaderboards!
