- Attacking a unit will now give away your position to the unit being attacked, unless you are cloaked.
- Fixed a bug that may have caused a friendly unit to run from an attacker when it could have otherwise attacked.
This AI update is designed to make ranged units more balanced. Before, if you attacked a unit from far away & outside of the target's sight range, that target would run away. Now, the target will act like it can see the incoming shot & know where to engage. This should give short-ranged units more of a chance against long-ranged units, as they will try to close the distance even if the long-ranged unit is initially out of its sight range. Your friendly units will have this same change too -- you will see individually attacking enemy units outside of your sight range.
This is considered a bigger update, so leaderboards have been bumped up a version number.
v1.24.1 fixes a bug that allowed seeing stealthy, attacking enemy units.
v1.24.2 clears up an ambiguous situation where detectors could kinda sorta see cloaked attackers outside of visual range. Now they clearly shouldn't and run if attacked, as detecting units need to be within visual range to properly detect a cloaked unit.
This update is currently on the "beta" branch, which you can "opt into" to try.

This prevents a balancing issue where very strong offensive units could finance themselves through their kills.

- Increased unit intelligence by adding "Overkill" consideration
- Additional late game challenges beyond just stronger enemies (more aggressive AI & more varied enemy unit generation)
- Virtual Reality improvements, like SteamVR keyboard integration & UI hiding
- Sight recalculation, so units better utilize the exact sight value paid for
- Important balancing & exploit patches
- Bugfixes

- Units now can only increase their individual level beyond your Global Level (provided by Global Level Upgrade buildings) by 4 via killing & level upgrade crates.
Level boosts provided by Elemental Resistance & Damage types matching terrain biomes is unaffected. So, a unit standing on Plasma terrain, whom is Plasma Resistant & Damaging, could be at most 6 levels ahead of your Global Level.
This addresses issues with "super" units becoming progressively powerful without any further base support or adjustments to strategy
- Fixed a cosmetic bug that caused unit rotations to get stuck, particularly small flying units
v1.23.1 provides a cosmetic bugfix for projectiles visually tracking a blinked unit, even though the projectiles miss
v1.23.2:
- Fixed a rare loading bug that may corrupt saved games
- Further explained how "Explodes on Contact" works

- Fixed a bug that caused terrain to flicker, especially when zoomed out & at high game speed settings
Hoping this game be pretty stable on this version for a bit, and allow this Leaderboard to collect some good entries!

- Now every 3rd Overseer will be a Grand Overseer
- After killing the first Grand Overseer, and for each Overseer killed thereafter, the lowest resistance limit will increase. After around 11 Overseer kills, the game will always play in Extreme resistance!
- When trying to play fullscreen in a non-native aspect ratio, Adapt or Perish will fallback to windowed mode. This is to prevent a suspected Unity 5.6 bug that causes inaccurate mouse clicks

- Units will now consider if a unit is about to die before shooting more at it. This will speed up both your attacks, and enemy attacks on you!
- Fixed a pair of very rare backend crashes that may have caused the build list interface to become unresponsive. Hopefully this will end this hard to reproduce bug!
- Fixed a timing bug when setting game speed in the Options menu (instead of the + / - hotkeys)
- CPU performance improvements in calculating "unit died here" icons in "fog of war" areas
[ 2019-02-21 20:54:21 CET ] [ Original post ] v1.18 Beta: Sight Changes Bug FixesHeads up everyone! Some relatively big sight changes are coming!
Currently, units reveal terrain in a square pattern instead of a circle. Although this "works," it has some undesirable behavior:
1) Units attack & detect stealthy units in a circle, as they should -- so the terrain revealed would poorly match detection and attack ranges.
2) Only sight values of 5, 9 and 15 mattered due to all of the rounding happening -- which was unintentional.
3) Enemies properly see in a circle, so your units revealing them in a square provided the player an unexpected advantage.
4) Also due to the rounding issues, it didn't matter where your unit was on a terrain "cell" -- it always revealed a certain number of terrain "cells" away.
This update fixes all of that by properly calculating terrain (and enemy) visibility in a circle. The "unfortunate" side effect is, units will reveal less terrain than they did before -- but it will behave much better.
This update also:
- Fixed pulldown menus not displaying selected values in the "Simple Contrast" UI theme
- Fixed Unit Identifiers when trying to show units with no letters in their names (e.g. "12345")
If you are having crashing problems when starting the game, check the FAQ in the forums for a likely solution!
This update is currently on the "beta" branch (which you can pick from Adapt or Perish's Steam Properties), so people can adjust to the new sight system.

- Deleting a unit definition that is being built should no longer "break" the unit doing the building
- Deleted units that still exist on the playing field should now be properly labeled as an "old" unit, even if a new unit definition gets created with the same name

- Added a new "Fast Scroll" option, which will speed up keyboard scrolling
- VR: SteamVR keyboard is now used to edit unit names (if you don't like the autogenerated names)
- VR: Added a "Toggle UI" button to show & hide the UI as desired
Steam Leaderboards are not lost! If you are running v1.16 and want to see old scores, select v1.15 in the Leaderboards dialog.
Currently on the "beta" branch. Go into Adapt or Perish's settings to switch to "beta" to try it out.

Your saved games should be fine too.

I removed the tutorial video, since not only was it getting graphically outdated, it was going through some confusing mechanics that no longer exist. The in-game tutorial & Game Guide has been redesigned, reducing the need for an external video tutorial.
