Marauder Update!

Howdy!

This update adds a special encounter with the Marauder--a mini boss of sorts. He's a nasty character with his own bizarre set of morals. He's a tough cookie so watch yourself! Sooner or later he should find you anywhere in The West after you've completed the Precious Cargo job.

Flame Soaker Update!

Age of Grit has some cool flamethrowers, but they're outnumbered by other weapon types--Gatling-guns, rifles, cannons and such. To rectify the situation this update adds a handful of awesome new flamethrowers!!!



This update also caps off a number of smaller updates that include various small improvements and fix a number of bugs/issues that players have reported. Please continue to send feedback--it's so valuable! I'm a one man shop here so I'm extremely grateful for all the help from players! New Update: Vulture Weaponry

Thanks to everyone for a great launch week thus far! Please keep spreading the word!

Age of Grit version 1.2 is now live and contains the Vulture Weaponry Update! This adds some awesome new weapons for the infamous Vulture Clan--a group of savage sky pirates. You can find these new brutal weapons in Redbeard Rock, the Vulture home base. (Note that you won't have access to Redbeard Rock until a certain point in the game.)

- fixed an issue whereby players could completely unequip their ship's hull
- fixed an issue whereby players could buy from a vendor even if there was no space the new item
- fixed some minor graphics issues with the Overworld

Age of Grit Launching May 3rd!!!

The day has finally come! After many years in development Age of Grit is launching! On Tuesday, May 3rd, the game will be leaving Steam Early Access to be fully released on Steam!

I'm very excited and very nervous! Please help however you can--if you like this little indie game please help it succeed. We don't have a giant marketing budget like a big studio so we really need your help! Please tell your friends and share the game where you feel is best. Steam reviews are also incredibly helpful!

I will be streaming the game in conjunction with the launch so please swing by and say hello in chat!

Version 1.1--achievements and much more! Full launch coming soon!

Howdy!

This update adds achievements to the game--hope you enjoy! Let's see who can be first to unlock all the game's achievements! If you have any suggestions for additional achievements please let me know! There's also a number of balancing changes and other improvements.

This will be the last update before the full launch of Age of Grit! It's been a long road but we are finally here. I couldn't have done it without all of your help, feedback, and support! Version 1.0 is here!!!

Age of Grit has just updated to version 1.0! This means as of now the game is officially out of beta! This is such a huge moment and I'm so thrilled the game has reached this point.

This update contains far too many changes to list. There's been tons of improvements and fixes made to the game. We've also done a LOT of in depth testing to try to find all the bugs we can and make sure the game is well-balanced and running as smooth as possible. I want to give a massive thanks to some of the dedicated players out there who've helped by sending bug reports and suggestions for improvement. Your contribution is extremely appreciated!

Version 1.0 is ready for full release but that doesn't mean there won't be further updates. There's some cool content and features in the hopper that I'm very excited about. And please send any suggestions you might have for how to improve the game. Particularly if you find certain parts of the game are too hard or too easy then that's very useful for us to know. Also, while most bugs have been dealt with, please let us know if you run into any issues. You can hit F12 to send a bug report from within the game or just send an email to support@iqsoup.com.

As of now there is no exact date for when Age of Grit will leave Steam Early Access but currently the plan is for early 2022. I feel we could certainly do so now but likely the timing isn't with all the craziness of the holidays.

- Added 11 new player hull upgrades!!! Adjusted stats for some existing hull upgrades.
- Added dozens of new crew conversations--now your crew members have a lot more to say! Visit them as the game progresses for new dialog options. Occasionally you may receive a reward at the end of a crew conversation.
- Added several duelist NPCs to The Compact. These are NPCs you can get into fights with at a town. Each offers unique rewards when defeated.
- Improved the Precious Cargo job and resolved some potential related bugs.
- Improved the engine temperature gauge functionality.

- Edited and improved all town descriptions.

A minor update that fixes numerous bugs/issues. A huge thanks to the community as many of these issues were kindly reported by players. Thank you so much for the feedback--please keep it coming!

Changelog
- Fixed issue involving saving a game in between towns. Usually saving is only allowed at a town, but occasionally a key event will trigger a save in the middle of the map. These "mid-map saves" had some potential problems that are now resolved.
- Fixed issues reported concerning the Core Deserter job.
- Fixed issues reported concerning the Spy Craft job.
- Fixed numerous dialog issues and typos. Many of these were reported by the community.
- Fixed a very rare issue where the map button could hide itself unintentionally, leaving the player stuck in a town. Note that sometimes the map button is intentionally hidden by the game and will become visible upon completion of key dialog.
- Various minor bug fixes and improvements.

- fixes some general saving issues that players have reported
- fixes a specific issue where saving stopped working during the Core Runaway job in The Compact
- fixes an issue where sometimes dialog portrait changes would not occur at the correct times

- tweaked the difficulty and loot of a few key enemies
- tweaked the enemy encounter probabilities a tad

This is probably the biggest update yet! This update adds TWO new factions to the game world and wraps up the game's main story content. The next major update will be version 1.0--the full release version of the game!!!

A great, big, huge update! A lot of work went into this update! This one gets us VERY close to full release. I reckon we are one major update away from full release. The game is currently on sale for the week so now's a great time to pick it up---if you can please share it with a friend!

-Added tons of new content! Dozens of new NPCs and side jobs! Much of the new content serves to flesh out The Compact faction.
-Sensors!!! Added over 30 new sensor upgrades!

State of the Game
Hope everyone is doing well! Just wanted to bring everyone up to speed on how things are going. If you're not aware, for some time now our team has had just one member--me! But I've been doing my best to finish things up on my own and we're now getting mighty close to v1.0 and a full launch of Age of Grit!

What we really need most right now is game testers. There's only so much useful testing I can do--at this point the entire game just looks like falling green Matrix code to me. If you'd like to help out please contact me directly at andy@iqsoup.com. And for everyone out there: any feedback (positive or negative) you can provide would be extremely useful. Like seriously super useful and helpful! The game has a built in bug reporter (press F12) so you can easily send us feedback any time you're playing the game.

Tales from the Frontier - Released version 0.5.0 - New Faction!

Howdy y'all! I am very proud to announce that Age of Grit has been updated to version 0.5! This is a MASSIVE update--by far our biggest yet! There's far too many improvements to mention, but here's some of the main points.

Changelog
- Added an entire brand new faction to the game: The Compact. This effectively doubles the game map, adding a huge array of new towns, enemy ships, shops, and NPCs! Hope you enjoy exploring this huge new area!
- Restructured some of the game's main story line to allow access to the new faction earlier on in the game.
- Added dozens of new ship upgrades: tons of long guns, cannons, flamethrowers, and cannons.
- Added new random encounter events.
- Adjusted battle mechanics. Now there is better balance various weapon types. Also improved a number of weapon special abilities.
- Fixed bug with Ammo Delivery quest (in Fort Pinckney) whereby it could not be completed.
- Numerous dialog and quest edits.
- TONS of other bug fixes, tweaks, and improvements.

Tales from the Frontier - Released version 0.4.0!

Howdy! Hope everyone is doing well. We've had a lot more players come onboard the last few weeks--welcome to community!

A lot of work went into this update and we are really proud of the progress made. The main new feature is an Overworld event system. I think the game is a lot richer now. The world feels more fleshed out and Overworld travel is a more interesting part of the game.

Changelog:
- Added a robust system for random Overworld events! The system is quite flexible and has broad functionality. Going forward the task of adding new events will be fairly painless, with a lot of room for variety. Events come in two main flavors. First are minor events, these will show up in the Captain's Log. Second are major events which will have a pop up in their own window. Often these involve a decision the player will make--for example: toast the Poptart or eat it cold. The choice is yours! But honestly, what kind of monster would eat it cold...
- Added TONS of new events to the new system! These are crammed full of lore. While events are typically self contained, we've tried to tell stories through events that shed light on the main characters as well as the broader game-world. Events can be a great way to get loot and will make travel from town to town a little more interesting.
- Various UI improvements.
- Fixed numerous minor bugs/issues.

Tales from the Frontier - v 0.3.1

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. If you're stuck at home all day now might be a great time to try to relax and play some video games. I hope Age of Grit will provide some fun and entertainment during this crazy time!

We've been hard at work on this update. There's been some major progress. Most notably you can now explore the interior of your airship. Previously all the crew members were on a placeholder "bridge" which was actually just an empty void. Now you can visit The Bridge, The Armory, The Engine Room, and the Captain's Quarters. I feel this is a huge improvement and really helps set the vibe for the whole game!

- improved inventory organization - items of different types are now sorted better and easier to distinguish
- added more commodities, items you can buy in one place and sell somewhere else for a profit

Just released version v0.2.8! This update focuses heavily on increased usability for players. The game is also currently on sale for 30% for the Steam Winter Sale! We just released a fairly major update--v. 0.2.7! This includes an extensive map redesign--the entire face of The West has changed significantly! The first segment of the game is now dramatically different. This new map should greatly increase available options and player freedom--especially at the beginning of the game. We also now start you off on the east side of the map, so that over the course of the game you'll be traveling westward--a la Oregon Trail. It just seemed to feel better and make more sense thematically. Finally, we think the new map will fit better with the new playable factions we're working on.

- added an opening sequence in Captain Rockwell's personal quarters. Should give you a better introduction to Rockwell as a character, as well as provide some clues to his past.

Update - version 0.2.6

Changelog
- after hearing your feedback we've simplified combat a bit - most significantly we've simplified the way damage is calculated for each weapon. This should help players compare weapons more easily.
- fixed a bug involving encountering the same ship multiple times (thought we had this one fixed several weeks ago but some people were still have issues. Going forward it should fixed!)
- fixed an issue where spare parts were repairing the wrong amount of damage
- significantly adjusted loot tables
- fixed a number of scrolling issues
- fixed an issue where the wrong airship configuration would sometimes be displyed in the Inventory window
- dialog improvements
- various minor bug fixes

Large Content Update - version 0.2.5

Howdy! Hope everyone's swell!

We've been hard at work and have just released a great big update for y'all to sink yer chompers into! There's plenty of new stuff to explore--hope you have fun!

Changelog
- DOZENS of new airship upgrades: weapons, sensors, hulls, and engines!
- added ability to repair your ship in between towns using spare parts (previously repairs could only occur at a town)
- new side quest: Red Tape
- extensive rebalancing
- tons of dialog edits and fixes

New Update - Version 0.2.4

Just posted a new update: v. 02.4! Lots of new stuff!

Changelog
- added a new text encounter system. Now you will get text encounters as you travel across The West.
- added new dialog
- made some major spelling and grammar edits
- fixed a bug where the game would sometimes display the wrong vendor
- fixed a number of saving related issues
- minor UI improvements
- added more content to the Help menu. Also added some text based tips to add more clarity.
- fixed numerous minor bugs/issues

Another update is already in the works--we are hard at work adding new features, improving the balancing of the game, and cleaning up some of the remaining bugs.

Age of Grit has launched!!!

Yeeehaw!!! We did it! Now the real work begins.

If you have a moment head on over to general discussion forum and give all a big howdy!

We are a tiny studio and don't have a big marketing budget. Anything you can do to help spread the word about Age of Grit will be incredibly helpful! You can follow us on Twitter @iqSoup--we try to be pretty active over there.

We've done our best to make the game as smooth and stable as possible. But presumably there are still going to be some bugs/issues (some of you have already found a few). Please let us know when you find 'em! You can hit F12 from within the game to bring up a reporting tool and send us a bug report. You can attach a screenshot and we'll also receive a log file so we can start to suss out what was going on under the hood. Feel free to use the same tool for feature requests or suggestions of any kind. You can also post suggestions/feedback here on Steam or just email us directly at support@iqsoup.com.
