It took a while, mostly because we had to assign a proper license to every single sound and font (not all of them are public domain, but all can be used in commercial products for free). And we've finally done it :) Right now, you can download Intrepid's source code with all the resources used in the game and just run it on your own computer! Feel free to experiment with it and let us know if you create something awesome :) https://github.com/miskatonicstudio/intrepid

Initial tests for MacOS have shown some minor issues, so for now, MacOS version is only available on our website. You can download it here: https://miskatonicstudio.com/downloads/Intrepid_1.0.2_macos_beta.zip We encourage you to download and test the game on your computers and report any issues. Once it is stable enough, MacOS version will be released on Steam.

To be honest, this was the plan from the very beginning ;) Intrepid was never meant to earn any money. It was meant to turn a real life escape room (created for a birthday party) into a computer game, so more people can enjoy it. It was all about fun :) And now, the entire codebase and most of the resources used in the game are public domain! You can download the whole Godot project from GitHub: https://github.com/miskatonicstudio/intrepid For now, fonts and sounds are excluded from the repository. Before we add them, we need to make sure that authors are properly credited and the licenses allow putting those resources in a GitHub repository. Models are currently only available in Godot's format (.tscn), but the plan is to release them as .blend files too. Stay tuned!

Hello! We've just released Intrepid v1.0.2. Changes include: * arrow keys can now be used for navigation (for non-QWERTY keyboard users) * keyboard input is now accepted for power panel lock and planet database * numpad Enter now works :) * settings are kept in user's home directory, not in Steam folder * the game ignores Windows' application size settings The last fix is especially important, since many users couldn't even start the game because of that issue (with Size of text, apps, and other items set to 150% the buttons in the main menu were not visible). Now the problem should be resolved and Intrepid will use the whole screen, ignoring Windows' scaling settings. Due to a change in Intrepid settings file location, any existing settings will be discarded. Please keep in mind that the first time you run the game after this update, you will start with default values. Any new changes will be properly saved. Now we are going to focus on enabling custom key bindings and making the pixel hunting less annoying (some gamers suggested highlighting interactive objects when they are in range). We're also working on a MacOS version, but there are still some issues to be resolved. Thank you again for your feedback, it help us make Intrepid better! Cheers, Miskatonic Studio

We've received a lot of feedback about the main menu buttons being hidden (making it impossible to even start the game) or being cut by the screen border. This happens for Windows users if the setting Change the size of fonts, apps, and other items (in Settings -> Display) is set to more than 100%. For now the only solution we can offer is to change the setting back to 100% when running the game. We realize that it is very inconvenient and we apologize for that. The problem seems to be with the game engine we've used. However, a bug report has already been filed and we're waiting for a solution. Godot's team is very responsive and helpful and we hope they will either fix this soon or suggest a workaround. You can track the progress here: https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/24922

Welcome in the new year! We've just released the first update for Intrepid. It should fix the most urgent issues which have been reported by many people who played our game. The list of fixes: * moved the interaction prompt from the top right corner to the center of the screen * reduced the default mouse sensitivity value * fixed a bug where mouse sensitivity setting was reset when the game started * settings are now saved (they are no longer reset every time the program starts) * changed planet codes to 7 digits to avoid confusion with other codes in the game * a different set of codes was simplified to make it more obvious how to use them (we're not going to tell which codes we mean, you will notice for sure ;) ) * security system buttons are no longer frustratingly hard to find There are still some issues left with the game, but these seemed to be the most frustrating ones for most players. We will do our best to fix them all, but that will take more time. For now, we hope this update will make your experience with Intrepid much more pleasant. If you notice any problems with the update or find any other issues, please let us know (either in a Steam comment or in our Discord channel). Cheers, Miskatonic Studio

Since the release, a lot of people seemed to be playing Intrepid. Way more people than we expected :) And most of them gave us some sort of feedback, which we hope will help us improve the game. One thing that become immediately clear was that we didn't advertise the game enough as an escape room. It is a bit different than a classic adventure game. While puzzles make sense (at least in most cases) it is very important to observe your surrounding carefully. Hints might be in places you don't expect them to be :) Codes can appear out of nowhere and you need to try them with every possible item that allows you to input a code. It is understandable that some people expected this to be a standard adventure game and those people were disappointed, or even frustrated. We didn't mean to mislead anyone and we apologize if we did. Another issue with Intrepid was that is can be very difficult, and the game itself doesn't offer any help. That was partly intentional. We wanted to create a feeling of being trapped and alone, of having nobody to help you, of being able to count only on yourself, your skills and wits. We didn't want to imply who are you exactly, both in terms of your role on the spaceship and in terms of your gender, nationality etc. That is why there is no backstory for the protagonist and other crew members, just some hints as to what the crew actually does (which is probably surveying planets in search of precious minerals). We understand that some people might dislike that, but that was an integral part of Intrepid. We will experiment with other ways of story telling in our future games. While the puzzles are meant to be difficult, some of them are frustratingly difficult. We received many hints from people who finished Intrepid and we will incorporate some of them into the game, to make it a bit more friendly. Also, escape rooms usually have a hint system in place. We failed to implement one in Intrepid, which was our mistake. Making a fine-tuned in-game hint system will require some time and we're not sure if we can create one, but for now there are many hints available in our Discord channel (https://discord.gg/fXqgsMe) and here on Steam (in the comments). Some people complained about technical issues with the game, like settings not being saved or mouse sensitivity being set to a weird value by default. While some of these issues are the fault of the game engine, others can and will be fixed soon. Having said all that, we need to inform you that there will be a delay with addressing all the issues reported by people who played Intrepid. The festive season is here and we need to take some time off. The earlies possible date when we can start working on an update is New Year. We apologize for making you wait and appreciate your patience. Thank you all again for playing the game and helping us improving it. We apologize to all the people who were frustrated by the issues and we congratulate all the ones who managed to finish the game ;) Cheers, Miskatonic Studio
