I've read all the player survey responses (yes, even recent ones) and while not every suggestion will make it in, I'm taking everything into careful consideration. Yes - there will be rollback netcode! Unfortunately this does mean the original game will remain as it is, at least for now. HF2 originally started as a complete rebuild of the original HF, but it seemed like a waste to build the engine from scratch without putting it to use in a new game. Development also changed engines in the middle from Unity to Godot 4, so the process was definitely rocky but it's at a pretty good place now where the rest of development should be relatively stable. This is also planned to be a paid release, but I'm doing my best to make it better than the original in every way possible so it'll be worth your time and money! That's all I can reveal for now. I'll be showing off more about the gameplay on Twitter in the coming months so stay tuned!
Hey all, It's been almost one year since the last HYPERFIGHT update, and I'm back with some good news: rollback netcode is officially in the works! The game is being fully rewritten in Unity to serve as a better foundation for rollback, while also letting me more easily utilize third-party libraries and potentially port to consoles in the future. This does mean that it will be a while before the first playable beta, so please be patient. Will there be new content? ...Potentially. Everything from v3.1 is going to be ported over exactly as it is at first, and from there I'll be deciding what needs to be changed or what should be added. Hey all - hope you're enjoying the game so far! The feedback for launch has been phenomenal, and I've been receiving lots of different questions that will hopefully be answered in this post. Here's what's planned for first major patch for HYPERFIGHT, titled the Unlimited update!
Online multiplayer
The most requested feature by far! You'll be able to invite friends to your own private lobbies, or match with random opponents. Beta testing for this feature will occur once it's ready, so stay tuned.
New characters
The roster is quite small at the moment, don't you think? This update will bring the base roster up to a total of 8 characters. These characters will be free - however, please note that additional characters in the future may come in paid DLC packs.
Rebalanced characters and modes
Some characters will be receiving balance changes, and characters less fleshed out than others (like the Gotos) will be receiving new moves as well! AI balancing for Arcade Mode is also planned. Expect some stylish new UI changes too! These features will take some time, so please be patient! It's likely that these features will be rolled out in parts.
