Hi! As I shared in the last update, there is a rare issue where some players get stuck in the forest scene, and are unable to walk past a certain tree. I took a look at this, and turns out the issue is an unexpected one but very easy to get past. As you can see in the video below - there's a small bit of the ground's collider poking out, stopping the player from walking past it. The solution is to just press E (keyboard) or RT/R2 (controller) to run past it. It may require a bit of jiggling back and forth to make it work. Send me a mail or drop a comment if you're still unable to get past it! [previewyoutube=m0sNgWKT0XU;full][/previewyoutube] -Armaan
Hi! This is just a quick update - there is a rare bug where players get stuck in the forest in Michael's dream sequence and are unable to walk past a tree. I've identified the issue and I'm working on a fix. It'll take a little while to get it uploaded as this will require a lot of testing (it's been a while since the last patch!) but I just wanted to let everyone know that a fix is on the way! Armaan
Hi everyone! It's been a long time since the last time I posted here! [previewyoutube=Q8XYvnGVW0A;full][/previewyoutube] This game will once again contain deep characters, a pleasant world and an engaging story. This time it's in a warm, beachy place. Check it out and give the demo a shot! I hope you like it :) Armaan

This applies to the bundle as well. -Armaan
Hi! This latest patch adds full gamepad support for all types of gamepads for Windows and Linux, expanding from only supporting X360 controllers for Windows. Also: 1. Fixed an issue where some hotspots wouldn't highlight correctly when controlling Chris with a gamepad. 2. Added a tutorial for cycling hotspots when using gamepad. Note that the Mac version currently has issues that have temporarily forced it to remain at v1.1.0. Read more here - Armaan
Hello everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that Rainswept will be playable during EGX Rezzed from 4-5 April in London! Come try out the game if you haven't played it yet, or come say hi if you did play and like it! :) Armaan
Hi Here are the fixes in v1.1.4: 1. Fixed an issue where the player and NPCs would fall through the ground in the Main Street. 2. Fixed an issue with Chris' outfits. 3. Fixed issues with pathfinding. Let me know if you run into any other issues! -Armaan
Hi! Here are the improvements and fixes for v1.1.3
- Improved hotspot detection when using controllers. The correct interact-able objects will now be highlighted when the player stands in front of them (similar to how it was in the demo)
- Fixed an issue where interact-able objects wouldn't highlight correctly when playing as Chris while using a controller.
Hi The Mac version has been rolled back to v1.1.0, and should now be playable. The only thing missing from the newer version is gamepad support (which was designed for Windows + Xbox 360 controller anyway so there should be no difference.) A fix for the latest Mac version is being worked on and will be up soon, but until then it is safe to proceed with version 1.1.0 (labelled v1.1 in-game) Armaan
Hi It's been reported that since v1.1.1, Rainswept for Mac crashes to desktop on launch. A fix is being worked on currently and should be up soon. Sorry for the frustration caused! -Armaan
Hi The latest update with gamepad support is up now! Enable this and check out the new control schemes by going into the options menu in-game. Note that only xbox controllers on Windows are officially supported at the moment, and that other controllers may have unexpected issues. Support for all controllers will be added soon. Fixes in v1.1.2 - 1. Fixed an issue with gamepad compatibility for the combination lock on day 5. 2. Fixed an issue where entering the outfit menu more than once would cause it to become un-highlighted when using the gamepad. -Armaan
Hi! Rainswept is now available for Linux! Do let me know if you run into any Linux-specific issues with this build. -Armaan
Hi! Firstly, this update contains the long awaited new control scheme for mouse and keyboard, as described in this post: https://steamcommunity.com/games/772290/announcements/detail/3227296324759282710 Also, some people had a hard time navigating around Pineview, so I've added indicators that direct you to your next location and tell you which side-road leads to what destination! You can see a preview of that here: https://twitter.com/Rainswept_Game/status/1097536757929668608 Apart from these features, the following bugs have been fixed in this update: 1. Fixed the bugged NPC Anav and added him back into the game. 2. Fixed main and pause menu scaling on non-16:9 aspect ratio resolutions. 3. Fixed William not animating when walking outside past the cafe on day 4. 4. Fixed [spoiler]star clusters particles[/spoiler] not triggering correctly on day 5. 5. Fixed some characters clipping when walking across each other during free roam. 6. Fixed an issue where skipping the end game credits would cause the credits scene to start again before quitting to the main menu. 7. Fixed an issue where you could talk to Chad all over again on day 4. Now I'm beginning work on adding controller support, and this will likely be added in the next update which should be up in the next couple of days. Thanks for playing and supporting the game! -Armaan
Hi! Here's a preview of the new controls that will be implemented in the next patch - https://youtu.be/dxo38hsUzO4 Now all visible objects in a scene can be looked at with the cursor without moving up right next to them. Movement is still restricted to the keyboard. It'd be nice to be able to give an option of both mouse and keyboard, but it'd create way too many issues, mostly with pathfinding. Also, this scheme means I can possibly start looking at controller support now as well - with cursor movement bound to the right stick. What do you think? Does this fix most of the issues with the controls? Would love to know your opinions! - Armaan
Hi! Before getting to the bug fixes, I wanted to announce that I'm currently trying to figure out a reworked control scheme. Many people have suggested they'd rather the game was completely playable by mouse alone. My assumption was that WASD movement feels more immersive as it's something we're used to from third person/ first person action games, but it's quite obvious I was wrong! I'm not 100% sure this will work with the way the game is designed, but it's something I'll work on and let you know about it soon. Controller support will also be worked on. It's something I've wanted to add from the beginning, but a few issues have prevented its implementation. Here's a list of the latest bug fixes and improvements: 1. Added Vsync. 2. Removed the bugged NPC Anav from Central Street. 3. Fixed a bug where it was possible to get stuck in a conversation with Brad during the second conversation. 4. Fixed a bug where interaction with a phone on day 6 was sometimes disabled. 5. Fixed an issue where sometimes Chris could appear in place of Michael in the Main Street after a particular flashback. -Armaan
Hi there! Here's the details for a couple of bug fixes in the latest version:
- Fixed a rare bug where the conversation options led to wrong answers during the second interview with Brad.
- Fixed a rare bug where it was possible for the player to get stuck on day 5 on the way to the church after talking to Jack.
Hello! Here's a couple of bugs that have been fixed in v1.0.11a
- Fixed a bug where loading a saved game prevented the user from turning journal pages.
- Fixed a bug where the character would get stuck running to the left.
Hi everyone! Hope you are having a good time with Rainswept, and thank you for the wonderful response to the game! That said, there are some issues that have been pointed out and I'm working on. At the moment they seem to be relatively rare, but if you've encountered them, do let me know in the comments for this post! 1. Loading a saved game disables the ability to turn pages in the journal. (Fixed in v1.0.11a) 2. In some cases the character will always run to the left automatically when not controlled by the player, possibly due to the default joystick controls. A patch for this will be up today. (Fixed in v1.0.11a) 3. It is possible to get stuck in Allan's basement on day 5 after completing the tasks inside the basement. (Fixed in v1.0.11a) 4. Sometimes loading a save will force the player to get stuck in a conversation loop. 5. Framerate cap will be added Also, Steam Cloud save support has been added for both Windows and Mac. Do let me know if you run into any trouble with this! -Armaan
Hi! This update includes fixes for the following issues: 1. Grandpa couldn't be interacted with on day 5 2. In the cafe on day 4, sometimes the interact option would get stuck on the skater character walking outside the cafe 3. The layers for Officer Blunt and a character in Aspen Street clashed. Improvements: 1. Shadow added under text in the pause menu.
Hi! Now that Rainswept is out, I really hope it's lived up to your expectations! In the previous version, an issue was observed where talking to a character named Anav would cause the player to get stuck in an endless conversation loop. As a temporary measure, the character has been removed from the game while I work on the issue in the background. The character is non-essential to the story, so his absence will not affect anything. The fixed version with the character reintroduced should be up in a day or two, depending on the complexity of the issue. Thanks for playing Rainswept! Armaan
Hi! I'm excited to announce that after two years of working on the game, Rainswept has finally been released and is now available on Steam!! If possible, I would SUPER appreciate if you could help Steam's algorithm by getting the game soon and leaving a review - this helps get the game get featured on the front page and is super important in the first 24 hours for a game to succeed. There is also a 15% launch discountso if you're planning on getting the game, now would be the best time for both of us ;) Lastly, thank you SO MUCH for supporting the game, providing feedback and for just playing through the demo. It has been super encouraging and helpful <3 I'll leave you with the new launch trailer. Do get in touch at armaan@frostwoodinteractive.com if you need help with anything. I hope you enjoy the game, and I hope to talk again soon! -Armaan https://youtu.be/bjbfd8IQmxc
Hi! Further two issues have been fixed in v1.0.6- 1. The button for the lock in Allan's home would sometimes not work correctly. This has been removed and the lock will now automatically open once you've got the right combination 2. Upon loading a save, the interaction icons would sometimes not respond to clicks. Fixed in v1.0.6 Armaan
Hello! This update fixes a couple of major issues that were spotted in the review copy for the game. 1. Fixed an issue where the player was unable to interact with Allan on Day 4. 2. Added pillarboxing/ letterboxing for monitors with non-16:9 aspect ratios. 3. Enabled launcher that will allow users to change the resolution before launching the game. Hope you have a good time with the game, and thanks for reviewing Rainswept! :) Armaan
Hi everyone! Really excited to announce that Rainswept will finally be out on the 1st of February! Here's a teaser trailer! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE9_fKZfM7U
Hi!
At the moment, Im working with a QA company to find and fix bugs, and Im also working on optimizing the games framerate.
In the past couple of weeks, Ive improved and implemented a couple of features. First, the interaction wheel has been updated. A few weeks back I asked you guys which UI scheme worked best out of these four:
A,B and D were tied, with many saying the colors were good for accessibility reasons, and the colors in option C were possibly the easiest to read and most aesthetically pleasing.
At the same time, many people in the feedback for demo asked for mouse support to be added to the game, as controlling through the keyboard turned out to be clunky.
So I decided to combine all the options above! The game can now played with keyboard+mouse, and the base color options are those of category C, while highlighting an option with the mouse turns them into a variant of option D. Aesthetics, accessibility and comfortable controls all in one! :) Heres a preview:
https://www.rainsweptgame.com/uploads/1/0/1/9/101908802/new-ui-mouse_orig.gif
A quest tracker has also been added to the game, so that players can keep a track of the objectives. The tracker, of course, updates dynamically and keeps up with the tasks youve completed and gives a notification for newly added ones as well:
What do you think?
The next few days (or the rest of December) will be spent on fixing bugs and optimizing the game. If all goes well, ideally, January will be spent on marketing, making the trailer and preparing for release!
-Armaan
Hi!
Having completed the previous tasks of polishing the game and implementing visual improvements, Ive now started with one of the most important tasks - identifying and fixing bugs! To be honest, this is tiring, difficult work (more than Id expected!) but its good to see long pending issues finally resolved! :)
Slowly the game is beginning to reach the stage where it can be released to the public (which is a very scary thought lol) Im midway through the last round of playing through and fixing the bugs by myself, after which Ill send over the complete game to a QA company for thorough testing.
In between this there are still a couple of things I still need to implement - a simple quest tracker, improved controller support, better saving/ loading, a few dialogue fixes and some other smaller tasks.
If all goes to plan (as it has, thankfully, until now) this should all be done by mid December. After that, Ill focus on improving the performance and framerate of the game.
Thats it for this time!
Armaan
Hi! For the past couple of weeks, Ive been working on improving the visuals of the game. Which, as you can see in this comparison video of the market street, meant redrawing a lot of artwork! Buildings, trees and other parts of the background have been redrawn and improved. Since then, Ive also improved and redrawn some of the character outfits (not seen in the video though) Apart from that, Ive gone through the whole game and added the soundtrack at the right moments and places and added ambient/ environmental sounds wherever required. Also, Ive proofread the dialogues, and will be doing that again with some assistance during the coming days. As of right now, Im implementing variations of color and artwork for different times of the day and weather conditions (clear, rainy, morning, noon, evening etc) This should be done within a day, after which Ill return to adding cutscenes to important points of the game. At that point, apart from some minor tasks, the game will be done! Then the rest of December will be used for identifying and fixing bugs, and optimizing performance. Thatll be a hugely important task, so I hope to get to it asap! By the end of December, Ill probably be able to announce a release date as well :) Thanks for reading and following along! -Armaan
Hi! And finally, all pending tasks and missing parts have been completed! Now its on to bringing it all together, testing and improving everything as required. First, Ill be playing through the full game to assess and test if everythings working as it should, and if anything feels lacking and needs more work. At the same time Ill start planning out the sound and music design. Ill also assess what moments need sprucing up with cutscenes like this one Then the rest of November will be spent optimizing and polishing the games visuals. See you next time! Armaan
