NewCity Weekly Update - v0.0.57.4 Patch Notes

Welcome Back, Mayors!

Citizen simulation improvements have developed in such a way that NewCity allows for those of the appropriate age to expire. What I mean to say is, your elder citizens might die now. Oh no!

On the plus side, they'll have a chance to enjoy their pensions at retirement age. Maybe there are some donut shops around that have a few senior citizen discounts...

Here are the patch notes:
Version 0.0.57.4 ALPHA

Features
• People now die based on age and health. This will cause a slight temporary reduction in population in existing cities.
 • Retirement: people now retire when they reach age 65 (CRetirementAge).
 • Always Night option. Daylight options moved to the Video tab in Options Menu.
 • Toggle gridlines option.
 • Added new building designs.
Improvements
• Cars are now less likely to take an offramp followed by an onramp.
 • Education heatmap is now easier.
 • Value is now more positively affected by education.
 • Value is now more negatively affected by density.
 • Value is now more negatively affected by cars and trucks.
 • Value is now more negatively affected by crime, pollution.
 • Value is now more difficult in Hard and Very Hard difficulty modes.
 • Reduced pillar snapping distance when building roads.
 • Now using higher-performance culling algo by default (CCullingAlgo=1).
Bug fixes
• Fixing visual corruption when building transit lines
 • Fixed a bug in the Amenity Tool where colliding buildings were highlighted in red.
 • Fixed a periodic flicker when generating the satmap.

The Steam Workshop support right now works for the NewCity test branch. We plan to have it implemented in the official release once 0.57 arrives in earnest. Remember to check out this update via the Betas tab. Right-click NewCity in your Steam Library and select Properties. Click the dropdown under the Betas tab and choose the "test - Testing branch". You can opt-out by choosing "NONE - Opt-out of all beta programs" instead. Going from one to the other will trigger an update as Steam fetches you the desired branch.

We really appreciate all the feedback and bug reports here on Steam and Discord! Please keep posting your thoughts and touching base with us.
