- With Dire weve had a strong creative vision while developing the game. It is a game for solitaire fans of course, but with our games we always try to include many elements from other genres which we love. - Dire is fundamentally an up/down solitaire where you match cards one above and one below the foundation. If you played Faerie Solitaire Remastered and loved it there is a good chance you will love Dire too. - The main gameplay focus of Dire is to purify the blue cursed cards. You auto complete layouts once you clear the last cursed card. If the final card cleared is a cursed card then youll get a heroic clear. These will matter more in the full version. Most of the meta / progression features are stripped out and disabled for this demo version. - Dire is a sister game to Faerie Solitaire Harvest. FSH was conceived to be an easier game while FSD was conceived to be a harder game. - Our vision for Dire is a darker theme, but still beautiful with magic and charm and heart and soul. The game has a very strong story focus, but no story is included in the festival demo. The focus of the festival demo is on a challenging gameplay preview location. There is nothing special after beating all layouts (we wanted to include enough unique layouts for those interesting in playing to have enough to play without repeating layouts too soon), the game will loop once you beat the last one. Since the layouts are still limited, they are balanced on the harder side and each may take multiple attempts to beat. Learn, strategize, and try again! - If you have played the challenge mode in Faerie Solitaire Remastered some of the new card mechanics in Dire will be familiar, but there are even more in the full version. - If you are worried about Dire being too difficult dont worry. The majority of the challenge in the full version of Dire is taken on optionally with powerful artifacts you can earn and equip to make unique areas easier. If you want to play more casually with more steady progression you can, but if you want to have as much challenge as possible you also can play that way too. - If you are worried about Dire being story focused dont worry. In the full version you can easily skip all story. Absolutely no unskippable cutscenes! - Many of the lessons we learned in our previous project have directly impacted Dires development. We have tried to include everything we want and also consider what you (our audience) want and expect in a solitaire game. - This is not the final version of course. Weve been iterating on nearly every part of Dire since it started development, and odds are what you see in the demo will still improve for the better in the final release! - This demo will be gone once the festival is over so be sure to play it while its live! - We are currently expecting to release Dire in September of 2020. We need the wishlists to be above 5,000 before releasing. Right now they are ~2,500 so if you have not wishlisted please do, and share this festival demo with all who may be interested. It will help! - If you enjoyed the demo please let us know in Dire's community forum!
