Hello! I have updated Jack-In-A-Castle with the following changes: - Added UI sounds. - Hovering over a save slot now gives visual feedback. - Adjusted the save/load page numbers so they won't be obscured by the save details. - Increased the amount of save slots. - Removed the useless Voice slider in options menu. - Centered dialogue text. - Made it so H-key and middle mouse key no longer hide the textbox (no more revealing half-drawn assets, haha!). - Fixed about a million commas, other grammatical errors, and rewrote a few sentences for clarity. - Updated credits. I have also made some other visual novels. Come take a look: RIGHT HERE.
Fixes: Several typos 1 instance of wrong entity speaking 1 sprite facing wrong direction If you find issues or more typos, please let me know! :D
Thank you for waiting! Here are the fixes and achievements! Some development data accidentally was included in the release, and it had to be cleared. This was done by making a new saved game directory. The bad news is that this was not keeping track of your endings, and your saved games will now be somewhere else. The good news is that your saved games are not gone. One of two things may of happened for you, so Im including two sets of instructions. If the patch worked everything should be cleared. Otherwise some manual file deleting is needed.
Method A: The fix worked! But now you want to get back your saved games.
Visual help HERE. Click to enlarge. 1. Make sure your game and Steam is closed. 2. Find your user data folder, and navigate to a folder called RenPy. **** On Windows: The fastest way is to press Windows Key + R and type: %appdata%\RenPy **** On Linux: In your home directory there will be a hidden folder named .renpy 3. Once inside this folder there should be two folders named after the game. One is named JackInACastle and the other is named JackInACastleData. 4. The older version is JackInACastleData, open this and locate files that end with .save extensions. 5. Copy these files to the other directory named JackInACastle. 6. Be sure NOT to copy the file named persistent.
Method B: It didnt work... and you want to clear the unlocked content.
Visual help HERE. Click to enlarge. 1. Make sure your game and Steam is closed. 2. Locate the game folder. The usual paths are listed below. **** On Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jack-In-A-Castle\game **** On Linux: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Jack-In-A-Castle/game 3.Inside is another folder named saves. DELETE IT. 4.Find your user data folder, and navigate to a folder called RenPy **** On Windows: The fastest way is to press Windows Key + R and type: %appdata%\RenPy **** On Linux: In your home directory there should be a hidden folder named .renpy 5.Once inside this folder there should be two folders named after the game. One is named JackInACastle and the other is named JackInACastleData. 6.Open the directory named JackInACastle. 7.Find a file named persistent, and delete it. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Alright. That was a lot! If there are problems. Let me know and I will help you. Cheerier news! Achievements are here!! :D
Hello! I was informed that developer data was left in the release build. This caused all the unlockables to be already unlocked. I'm terribly sorry and will fix it asap. I will have to point the future data into a different directory. What this means for you: You will either lose your saved files, OR you can manually copy them to the new directory. I will attach instructions along with the next announcement. Good news is, I'll be adding achievements along with this patch, so if you choose to not copy your saves, it's a great opportunity to achieve them. :D I know this is terribly inconvenient to you. Thank you for your patience! -Nemlei
