Welcome everyone to our first monthly community update regarding Omni!

I know it is my first time here communicating with you all regarding the status of the game and I'm really excited to share some of the brand new things I've been working on since I've shown the game almost 4 years ago.
A ton has changed since you've seen the game. Many advancements in how the Unreal Engine has evolved and a lot of thinking about where to take the direction of the story. Once we're closer to release, I'd really like to share the story of why the game took so long and silence in between.
Today though, I'd like to commit to sharing with you more about the game once per month.
Angel
Ever since I showed the reveal trailer for Omni back in August, I've received a ton of love and warm reception for the character
Angel. It took me a very long time to figure out how the story would be fully presented for Omni, and the introduction of Angel was a major push to get it all rolling.

Angel is your companion throughout your journey to recovery. She'll be there to cheer you along, help you out when you need her and talk with you about the changes happening to you and around you. I want the interactions between the protagonist and Angel to be the centre point for the game, as your character growth and the development of their relationship I consider to be some of the most exciting parts of how the story will unfold.

I would like to take some time to give a shoutout to a dear friend of mine for taking on the role of voicing Angel. Her name is
FoxySongbird and she actively promotes and inspires positivity throughout all of the communities she is apart of and lends her support to so many individuals. She is a wonderful friend, moderator and I'm happy that she is voicing this wonderful character. Really encourage everyone to check her out both on

The Protagonist
Currently, I haven't locked down the name or voice actor for the protagonist. For those of you who have been following me closely on social media, you may know that this is something I'm working towards.
The protagonist in Omni is a tricky character to create, as I want to demonstrate their growth with the interactions they have with Angel and this has to be visually tangible.
Regarding the voice actor, within the month of
February, I will be making an announcement on the Discord and social media about those who want to lend their voice to the project. I've had a few people express interest already and I'd be really happy to work with any of them!
I will be providing more information about how the process will work, what you will need to do, deadlines, requirements, information about the character, etc. later on next month. I currently estimate that about 40% of Omni's story has been written and I'm still exploring the character as a whole.
Enough Story! Where Is The Pretty Stuff?
This month, I've been experimenting more with achieving more atmospheric lighting without losing a lot of the visibility of the game. Before, I used to describe the game in "complete darkness" but that philosophy has changed drastically. The game is mostly lit in key areas (doors, hallways) a lot more than was designed before.

Working on removing a lot of frustration from "stumbling around in the dark" to "spotting something in the distance and moving towards it".
In terms of changes to gameplay mechanics, I'm planning for the game to shift towards "orbs providing the energy" and it being more easily communicated to the player.
I still have stuff that is heavily WIP that I'll be sharing next month. So stay tuned there!
Developer Livestreams
Starting sometime next month, I will be live streaming development of the game a little bit more regularly. I have a ton of systems to build still in terms of gameplay mechanics and cutscene/puzzle management systems.
I had begun a good run of this in December with a community I am close to and I was pretty happy with the results.

In Closing
I'm really happy to call 2019 the year that I see Omni finally being released. I've received a ton of support these past few months and I'm encouraged to keep moving forward.
