Collected for the first time: two award winning games that took procedural content generation to the next level! One slow & deliberate, the other fast paced, both unique and infinitely repayable. https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/29049/The_Unexplored_Collection/ [previewyoutube=vLwwHuuCfIM;full][/previewyoutube] Featuring:
Unexplored

- Real Emergent Gameplay with many Tactical Options
- Intense, Real-time, Dual Wielding Melee Combat
- Stealth Mechanics (dungeon crawling like a real rogue)

Unexplored 2: The Wayfarers Legacy
Unexplored 2 is an award winning, slow & deliberate, open-world RPG in procedurally generated worlds, with a table-top 'feel' & a cool twist on permadeath. Key features
- Radical content generation: Ludomotion's radical approach to content generation creates many layers of unique content, every time a new world is generated.
- Generative storytelling: Though every Wayfarer's ultimate goal may be similar, every hero will have their own world, story, and encounters.
- Systemic depth: The game features many systems and you will discover something new every time you play, even after hundreds of hours of gameplay.
- Legacy system: Actions of your past heroes impact the fortunes of those that follow in their footsteps. Use your legacy wisely to give your successive adventurers greater hopes of completing their quest.
- Permadeath in a persistent world: When your hero dies, they stay dead. But you can choose to return to the same world with a new Wayfarer. Or, if you prefer, begin a new adventure in a completely unexplored world.
- Unique presentation: The worlds in Unexplored 2 are presented in a unique and beautiful art style, beyond what is conventionally expected from a generative game. A stylish lighting system sets the mood and adapts to the time of day and local weather conditions.
- Orchestral adaptive soundtrack: Your adventure is accompanied by an orchestral, original soundtrack which reacts to the action and decisions you make as a player.

Unexplored 2 is a unique game in many ways, very different to Unexplored 1. It's also a game that is a bit hard to explain. It's a node-based open-world, procedurally generated RPG, with perma-death, but also not... To make it easier to decide whether or not you should buy the game: play the demo. It's a pretty unrestricted piece of the game. You can quest, adventure and explore three regions of the world that the game generates especially for you. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1095040/Unexplored_2_The_Wayfarers_Legacy/ Before playing the demo, you could read these tips: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1095040/view/3336616951943536051 Or watch one of these introductory videos that explain the basics of the game very well: [previewyoutube=0g6E1yVVM7U;full][/previewyoutube] [previewyoutube=6fQG6dxqaCU;full][/previewyoutube]

Dear players! More than five years after the release of Unexplored, the sequel launched on Steam. Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy shares a lot of design goals with its predecessor, it has the same lead designer and same composer, but all in all, Unexplored 2 is a different beast.
- For starters, it's fully 3D.
- Characters have two eyes (which I jokingly say it's to be able to perceive the aforementioned third dimension).
- It's outside (mostly, but dungeons are still a big part of the game)
- Combat is way less important.
- RPG mechanics are more important.
- The amulet of Yendor now is the Staff of Yendor (which you carry with you all the time) (and which you have to destroy eventually)
- A new approach to perma-death...

Unexplored 1 Linux & Mac
We have a working build for Linux and Mac and are looking for a some time in our schedule for a proper Linux-release. For Mac: we need to investigate a little bit further since Unexplored uses a library that will stop functioning on MacOS in the not too distant future.
Unexplored 1 Save Bug
We're aware of a save-bug in Unexplored 1 that seems to hamper progression for a few players. So far, we have been unsuccessful in reproducing the bug, which makes it impossible to fix. If you've been hit by this particular bug, please let us know what you were doing before it occurred. That may help to solve it.

FIG Open Access live now
Dear Unexplored-players! We are proud to announce we are hard at work on Unexplored 2: the Wayfarers Legacy! The game was just revealed during the E3 PC Gaming Show, and were so stoked to be able to share this with you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR_CXZGECt0 And as you can see, the sequel is a big step up from the original. If you want a very early demo, or just want to follow the development closely, back us on fig: https://www.fig.co/campaigns/unexplored-2 You can also wishlist the game on Steam, here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1095040/Unexplored_2_The_Wayfarers_Legacy/ Heres JD explaining our plans for Unexplored 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLSSmmbW6QA
Unexplored 1 on Steam
We would like to thank everyone who bought and played Unexplored 1. There are more of you than we could have hoped for! Having to turn our attention to Unexplored 2 means saying goodbye to its predecessor. We feel the current build of Unexplored is a solid one and provides hundreds of hours of gameplay. Yes, there is the occasional bug and a few players seem to be particular unlucky. For that were sorry, and were currently looking if it's feasible to create another update for Unexplored 1 on Steam. Unexplored started its adventure, here, on Steam, back in 2016 when Steam Greenlight was still a thing. The game got green-lit in less than 11 days, which was exceptionally fast. We later launched Early Access, and that move paid off. Big time. The amount and quality of feedback we received from early players proved to be invaluable. The games so, so much better off due to player feedback, that we never wanted to go without. Thats the main reason for going with FIG Open Access. Steam has become a bit crowded and FIG is offering a great opportunity that we wanted to seize upon. Were proud of the Game of the Year-mentions by PC Gamer, Rock Paper Shotgun and Vice.com. But most of all were proud we made a game that entertained tens of thousands of people, sometimes for hundreds or even thousands (!) of hours. We hope to see you in Unexplored 2: The Wayfarers Legacy!

Time only moves when you do. That's the principal behind super cool game Superhot. Vlad 'YellowAfterlife' wrote a little mod that puts that same principle into Unexplored.
See it in action:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNpEsA_0j4U
You can download the mode here: https://yellowafterlife.itch.io/boiling-hot
Checkout the source code here: https://github.com/YellowAfterlife/BoilingHot
The mod was inspired by a little video we released a couple of days ago in which we show Unexplored at 10% of the recorded speed (here's the youtube-version):

Unexplored on PC
As far as DLC, we consider the game to be complete content-wise. However, we've recently updated the game with a number of optimizations and bug fixes and will continue to do so. We'd like to thank everyone who posts bugs and feature requests in the forum. We do read them all, and we do really appreciate them! We're going to release the game for Linux sooner or later. The Mac-release has become somewhat uncertain due to the fact that Apple decided to get rid of OpenGL. We'll keep you posted on this.

Switch pre-order live
We're proud to announce the launch of our third free dlc (well, fourth if you count the soundtrack): THE DARK RITUAL. This is yet another way of playing Unexplored and this time you arrive at a Cultist's mansion to stop them from summoning a Great Old One! Gather clues about the nature of the ritual, and find the right method to stop them before it is all too late. Every time you change locations, time advances, and as the clock approaches midnight, foul magics start tearing at the very fabric of reality. After installing you find The Dark Ritual in Special Runs in the menu. As always: let us know what you think in the comments!
Update
We've also pushed an update live which focuses on performance. The Cyclic Dungeon Generator now takes less time and the game uses less memory. This should decrease stutters and increase smoothness while playing.

It took a while, but now our hero has a voice!
The 1.18 update includes six character voices (optional) and facial expressions for our one-eyed dungeon raider. We really feel the voices add a lot of personality. You won't have to listen to entire lines of dialogue, but you will hear vocal outings of the hero's emotional state.
Also: we've boosted the speed of the cyclic dungeon generator significantly. Milage may vary, but everyone should have their game start quicker. On top of that: the game now uses less memory, which will improve its performance on systems with less RAM.
As always: let us know what you think! And if you enjoy the game, it would be a great help if you write a review.
Thank you for playing Unexplored and for your continued support!
Here's the complete list of enhancements, changes and fixes:
MAIN CHARACTER ENHANCEMENTS

We've improved the performance of the content generator, it should work a lot faster now. It also eats up less of your RAM. However, since this is a really big change at the core of the game, we want to do an additional round of tests prior the full roll-out.
This is where you come in.
If you'd like the faster content creation and the additional new features and fixes listed below, please enter our beta (LIBRARY> right click on UNEXPLORED>PROPERTIES>BETA> now choose UNSTABLE and wait for the game the download the latest beta version).
We're particular interested in weird behaviour by the generator. If you notice weird placement of objects, enemies or environments, please report this in the Unstable Branch part of the forum.
1.17.6 BETA
New Features:

To all of you: happy 2018 and thank you for making 2017 such a wonderfully successful year for our game!
Oh my GOTY!
In a year with 7,000 new games on Steam, Unexplored somehow ended up with five GOTY-mentions on three major publications! And yes, we're super proud of that! Here's the proof we weren't hallucinating: PC Gamer GOTY Personal Pick by Wes Fenlon http://www.pcgamer.com/unexplored-weaves-personal-roguelike-stories-with-clever-random-generation/ Rock Paper Shotgun GOTY Top 3 by Dominic Tarason https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/12/27/dominic-tarasons-favourite-games-of-2017/ Vice Waypoint GOTY Top 5 by Austin Walker https://waypoint.vice.com/en_us/article/ne47nd/austin-walkers-top-10-games-of-the-year Vice Waypoint GOTY Mention https://waypoint.vice.com/en_us/article/a3nepz/the-best-games-of-2017-day-1-xcom-pubg PC Gamer GOTY Category Nomination http://www.pcgamer.com/game-of-the-year-awards-2017/ Some heartfelt congratulations to our friends at Guerrilla Games for winning every single PlayStation Game of the Year-award, to our friend Adriaan de Jongh for his iPad Game of the Year Hidden Folks (which is also on Steam) and to our friends from Twirlbound for their awards over at IndieDB for their upcoming Pine! That was 2017, what's in store for 2018?
Next project
First and foremost we are working on our next project, which we cannot reveal just yet. We hope to be able to announce it soon. But that doesn't mean we've stopped working on Unexplored.
DLC, Mac & Linux
The Mac and Linux versions are in beta, they're up and running and being tested. We may need some more beta-testers, so if you're up for that, drop us a line. We have no definitive ETA, but we're aiming at Q1 2018. The final (free) DLC will probably have the same time frame, but we're not making any promises. It's already (partly) available in the Unstable Branch (our beta).
Voices & Facial Expressions
Currently the first set of voices is available in the Unstable Branche (our ongoing beta for new features). We want to add a set of more female sounding voices before we release them proper.
Bug fixes
We will continue to update the game and fix the bugs you report. Remember, Unexplored is entirely procedural, so it's physically impossible to check all possible combinations of levels, enemies and 'furniture'. We're confident we've squashed all major bugs, but every now and then some turret will block a hallway or a door will lead you into lava. So, keep reporting these instances, we WILL continue to hunt these rare bugs and kill 'em!
Features and fixes in Unexplored 1.17.5
And to start the year in style, we've just released another (small) update: New Features: - You can assign numpad number keys to items Game Balance: - Increased chance of spawning a potion of Deafness Bug Fixes: - Classbound items cannot be dropped using a gamepad. - The first five potions no longer auto-id after restoring a game - Fish cannot attack you after drinking a levitation potion in shallow water - Fixes a generator issue with missing bonus items - Rewards for the Arbiter Grounds are improved - Journal entries that do not specifically mention the level never show up in a filtered journal - Fixes crash with enchanting staves inside a chest - Fixed a number of typos

After PC Gamer yet another major publication names Unexplored as one of the best games of 2017. We're super proud of our place in Vice Waypoint's Pantheon of Games.
The description is almost poetic, but instantly recognisable for everyone who has played Unexplored:
The dungeon beneath the earth is circular and I will tell you what that means. Draw a line and make its ends touch. So, we have begun. We will take the fire mage, and lock him in the small library. Dry paper. Where shall we place the key? Follow the line with your finger. There. In the small chest surrounded by the pressure plates. Perhaps I should hook them up to a teleporter. Too cruel? Fine. Arrows. Now, this is important. Fill out the spaces weve missed. They must feel like they could get lost, truly tangled in the spiral. And they could, but watch. A path theyll miss the first time. They can always find a way. Let us build this great spiral downward into the earth. It will take us six seconds.

Earlier, PC Gamer nominated Unexplored for Best Strategy Game of the Year, a category ultimately won by Total War: Warhammer II. The praise from the world's biggest PC games publication didn't stop there: to our surprise, Unexplored was one of the 'Personal Picks', described by PC Gamer as follows:
Alongside our team-selected 2017 Game of the Year awards, each member of the PC Gamer team gets to champion one favorite from the year.
Writer Wes Fenlon choose Unexplored as 'his champion'. He writes:
Unexplored doesn't try to do everything classic roguelikes do, but it channels their spirit into clever new ideas and offers much of their depth in an intuitive new interface. It's almost certainly the best game of 2017 you haven't heard of, and if NetHack's 30 year lifespan is any indication, it'll still be great a decade from now.
Thank you, Mr. Fenlon, we're deeply honoured!

And then they smiled...
Voices & facial expressions
We're adding voices and facial expressions to our hero! They aren't saying too much, but a range of oohs, aahs and ouches provides them with a tad more character. You can preview the first set of voices if you enter our beta-programme (right-click on Unexplored in your library>properties>betas>choose UNSTABLE BRANCHE). Note: this is the first set, we're working on a second, more female sounding one. If you prefer the hero to remain silent: voices are optional.
Improvements
1.17.3 (Unstable Branch) New Features: Adds character voice. Adds facial expressions for the hero. 1.17.2 (Lost Creatures) New Features: Adds Tomes. You can catch Myst. Game Balance: When weapons deal multiple damage base damage types, the best result is applied (to enemies and to you!). Improves meteoric weapons and armor. The Forge of Destiny bestows extra bonus to crafted items. The Spinner Room in the Ripley Run will always have spinners. A weapon of Rust can affect Turrets and Mechanical Spiders. A weapon of Rust cannot be corroded itself. Bug Fixes: Cloak of invisibility is identified when it activates. Pedestal puzzles should not appear twice on a single floor. Oil coated weapons stop burning when submerged. You recover 5 hp when drinking tea. Fixes crash with eye plants.

Five creatures that were lost, have returned to the Dungeon of Doom... Meet nightmarish boars and run from the Runners in the 17th content update for Unexplored. (To be honest, this was originally just called the 'Even More Creatures Update', but that sounded too boring to me.)
We're preparing yet another content update, which will give our hero his/her voice (don't worry, it's optional). And the final dlc, the Dark Ritual, is nearing its completion. You can already taste it in the beta (Unstable Branch).

In the Words Of A Player: What Do You Feel Makes the Game Stand Out?
Misery, one of Unexplored’s Early Access players, thought our description didn’t do the game justice. So, we asked: “What do you feel makes the game stand out?”
We really liked what Misery wrote, so here’s a summary:
- 1. the Dungeon Generation
- 2. It uses a ton of traditional roguelike concepts, but in non-annoying ways
The fact that the game FEELS like a traditional one while still being real-time is a pretty major thing as far as I see it. - 3. The combat is pretty fun, yeah
Lots going on there, particularly once things like potions and staves or whatever are thrown into the mix. Feels more tactical than the usual "shoot everything" sort. - 4. Pausing the game
Being able to pause the game and deal with your inventory, use items, and examine things, without actually leaving the game screen, that's a big one. It all really opens up a lot of options for tactical play. - 5. The Puzzles
[The puzzles] feel like the sorts that the old Zelda games used to use. That same satisfaction from that is here overall. - 6. The hub floors
Ended up being a great feature. - 7. The huge variety of enemies
Not just bosses, but monsters and traps and all sorts of stuff. I've been constantly impressed by this. Even after so much time with the game there's still plenty I haven't even seen yet. - 8. And of course the whole "lock and key" concept.

We continue with our own, inferior description:
The goal of Unexplored
The goal of Unexplored is to find the dragon in the depths of the dungeon of doom, slay it to claim the Amulet of Yendor and bring it back to the surface. Every run, the game will create an intricate map of dungeons, hinting at foes to come and solutions for puzzles you’ll face.Lots Of Bosses
During your adventure through the dungeons, you’ll regularly face off with one of over fifty possible bosses. These range from the Queen Ant, to the Balrog and, yes, several menacing Dragons. Some of these bosses can only be slain with the right weapons, so make sure not to miss those on the previous levels.Uncover Secret Items
In the spirit of roguelikes, the game does not tell you which potions will save you, and which will kill you. You’ll have to find out yourself either by taking risk or using the right Magic Scrolls. Same story for the Enchanted Weapons: are they blessed with divine powers or cursed with deadly spells?Puzzles
Pitted throughout the dungeons you’ll encounter strange statues. Some of these are part of puzzles and solving those may reap great rewards. So, you may want to pick up and read the books you’ll see lying around. They may feature hints on how to solve a puzzle, even one a few levels deeper.Weapons
You’ll be able to equip two items and wield them both. In the darkest deeps you might want to hold a burning torch beside your axe. Bats tend to be killed easily from a distance by throwing daggers at them, so why not equip them in both slots? Or wield a whip, no better, the Flaming Whip you just plucked from that Balrog you managed to finally kill. Or… perhaps it’s best you start with a shield. A big, enchanted shield. Yes.Armor
Your starting armor may not seem like much, but that’s only because… well, because it IS not that much. It will keep you safe from the bites of bats, but don’t try your luck with an Orc. Beat the right foes to collect their leather breastplates or chainmail. Or… equip the right cloak on go stealth…Wait, Stealth?
Yes, that is an option. You can go unnoticed for a long time and execute surprise attacks for added damage. Like everything in Unexplored, it’s up to you to weigh the rewards versus the risk. Because a surprise attack on a Necromancer may sound like a terrific idea, but it’ll probably survive your first strike, leaving you quite vulnerable in your cloak of cloth.Progression
Unexplored features several kinds of progression for you and your character. The most important is simple: experience. Expect to die a lot in the beginning, whilst learning exactly how to play the game. But you will learn and before you know, you reach a deeper level every run. However, there’s more than just experience. Within each run, you’ll find Potions of Strength, drink those and your power increases for as long as your stays alive. A Potion of Life not only completely heals your hero, it increases the amount of Hit Points. Upgrading your equipment by combining it with certain magic items on an anvil will grant you perks for the time being. Offer to the Gods, and you may receive another upgrade. However, if you die, your powers die with you. Unexplored is a game featuring perma-death.
Nevertheless, some upgrades are permanent. When you unlock achievements, you unlock equipment and items you can purchase before you start a new run. You pay for these items with the other permanent feature: gold. Your hero will inherit all the gold your previous one owned. So it is always an absolutely fabulous idea to try an open as many chests as possible, you might get rich trying.
Or, just spend it all during your run when you meet one of the vendors. Yes, you heard that correctly: during the game you will be able to spend your gold on new equipment and potions. Obviously, if you subsequently fail, all that gold is lost. Like in forever.
Crafting and Mixing
The deeper you go, the more dangerous the dungeons will be. So, make sure to pick up the right equipment, potions and scrolls along the way. You can even craft better items and mix healthy or plain deadly drinks.Foreshadowing…?
Part of Unexplored’s allure is the way it generates the dungeons. Not just the levels themselves (see this video about Cyclic Dungeon Generation), but all the dungeons in their entirety. The game knows what you’ll face on the deepest levels even before you start wandering the first one. So, it will provide you with hints, keys and notes about what to expect down the line. Best keep an eye out for those. That’s It?
No, of course not. Unexplored is a game filled with content, with lava and water, plants and trees (flammable trees that is), with hidden doors and locked doors (use lockpicks!), with small bosses and big bosses and with so much more. But we won’t spoil everything here. It’s up to you to find out! So, go have yourself an adventure! You’ll love it!***************************************
