Something's rotten in the city of Mawson.
We've been working hard on The Drifter, and the Steam Mystery fest felt like a great time to show off some of what we've been doing!
Updated Demo
The updated demo is live, so if you've missed it so far, you have this week to check it out! If you've played before, it's the same section, but with some spit and polish and a trailer at the end teasing never before seen gameplay.
New screenshots
We've got a bunch of new screenshots we're sharing on the steam page too, so check it out if you haven't for a while.
Steam deck support
The game's also running great on Steam Deck, with it's unique dual-stick interaction controls, if you have a deck, be sure to check it out!
Progress
The game's still a while away from releasing, or even announcing a release date... but the whole game is playable with placeholder art and temp dialog, and we have 3 artists on board now, so we're starting to really churn through content! To keep up to date with development, or if you just wanna hang and chat, jump in our discord! Cheers! Dave

Hullo, Dave here! I've recently starting recording little developer diary videos for The Drifter during a dev stream, and sticking them up on youtube. In each I talk about or share some stuff we've been working on, and also talk a bit about a topic, either something about the Drifter, or related to adventure game development in general.
Check out the whole playlist on youtube!
Or watch the first ep right here- [previewyoutube=mivFQB7DAmI;full][/previewyoutube] I'm just recording these during a twitch stream, and uploading without editing, so they're nice and raw and unpolished. But that also means it doesn't take time away from development, and I'll actually keep up with making them! So check them out if you're keen to see what's been happening on the Drifter!

On top of that, The Drifter demo's available all week to try out, so get stuck into it!
Sale
On top of THAT, our past games Crawl, and Regular Human Basketball will be on sale for the duration of the event! Check out ours, and other Melbourne Games week games on sale here: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/migw2021
Update on The Drifter
I'll be going into this in the stream, but I've recently got a first draft of the whole game playable, albeit in an extreeeemly rough state, so for the first time since putting the demo together, I'm getting new actual real art from a real actual artist into the game.
^ Here's some of characters from the second chapter! Anyway, my hope is that now I'm at this stage, and I know what the whole game even is, I'll be able to start sharing more as we continue building the thing!

As part of The Big Adventure Event on Steam, you'll be able to play an early sneak-peek demo of The Drifter! The devs (well, Dave at least) will be lurking in the steam community forums, so feel free to ask any questions there. You'll only be able to play for the duration of the event, until January 25. So don't miss out!

GAMEPLAY
The Drifter is a 2d point and click adventure in the classic style. Taking cues from the recent revival of the genre there is an emphasis on story, with puzzle solving being the glue that ties it together rather than the focus. Mick's a pretty practical guy, and so puzzles are down-to-earth, designed to be unobtrusive, and give an investigative feel. We're keeping the pacing is quick and lean, you'll never be wandering around lost for long periods - Mick is propelled through the story at a good clip, from one situation to another, with barely a moment to catch his breath.- OS: Ubuntu - glibc 2.15+. 32/64-bit
