The Drifter Demo Dev Stream
Join Powerhoof's Dave Lloyd (That's me!) as I play through the demo of my game The Drifter, and blather on about its development. I'm gonna go into details about the idea behind the game, inspirations, the control scheme, and my approach to writing and puzzle design. If you have any questions, I'll be answering them in the chat too!
On top of that, The Drifter demo's available all week to try out, so get stuck into it!
On top of THAT, our past games Crawl, and Regular Human Basketball will be on sale for the duration of the event! Check out ours, and other Melbourne Games week games on sale here: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/migw2021
I'll be going into this in the stream, but I've recently got a first draft of the whole game playable, albeit in an extreeeemly rough state, so for the first time since putting the demo together, I'm getting new actual real art from a real actual artist into the game.
^ Here's some of characters from the second chapter! Anyway, my hope is that now I'm at this stage, and I know what the whole game even is, I'll be able to start sharing more as we continue building the thing!

Follow Mick as he's sucked headfirst into a mad web of shadowy corporations, murder, and the thousand year obsession of a madman.
GAMEPLAY
The Drifter is a 2d point and click adventure in the classic style. Taking cues from the recent revival of the genre there is an emphasis on story, with puzzle solving being the glue that ties it together rather than the focus. Mick's a pretty practical guy, and so puzzles are down-to-earth, designed to be unobtrusive, and give an investigative feel. We're keeping the pacing is quick and lean, you'll never be wandering around lost for long periods - Mick is propelled through the story at a good clip, from one situation to another, with barely a moment to catch his breath.MINIMAL SETUP
