- The Desert map is now a brand new map type.

Patch 18 Notes
New!
- Normal Matchmaking will now queue you against bots if it can't find anyone. The difficulty of the bots will increase depending on how many spells you have unlocked and how many matches you have played. Experienced players be warned >:)
- Blizzard has been replaced with a new Yeti spell. Anyone who had Blizzard unlocked will have 250 essence refunded when they login.
- Chat messages can now be seen briefly even when the chat box is closed. This can be turned off in the options.
- Arcane Vision has been reworked! It now lets you craft a custom spell that you can cast a single time.
- New "Arcane Visions" gamemode has been added temporarily. This gamemode's arcane vision is completely unlocked, allowing you to create really crazy combinations. Have fun!

Balances & Changes
- Increased Lich Transformation's drain aura from 3 to 5 damage.
- Decreased Den of Darkness's aura damage from 25 to 15.

- Made the following changes to Arcane Portal: The targeted portal can now overlap entities, but not terrain. The portal that spawns above you can no longer overlap entities.
- Piety now deals normal damage instead of directly changing a player's HP when used on players with HP higher than the average. In other words, it is now affected by Protection Shield, Stone Skin, towers, etc.
- (Temporary) Mushrooms are removed when their owner dies. They stop working when the owner dies in the first place, which is a bug that will be fixed in a future patch.
- Overlight and Underdark spells are no longer missing in Random Spells mode.
- Flying entities no longer get stuck in the map corners when teleported using Arcane Portal.
- Blink is no longer disabled when you cast Angel Transformation.
- Fixed wrong number in Light Castle's description.
- Updated Ice Tower's description.
- Fixed Mega Clam and Mega Waterball not working properly if used by a Reaper minion.

New!
- Spells and bonus essence can now drop at the end of the round.
- Experimental: Players now turn into ghosts when they die. Ghosts can fly around and move through terrain but can't currently interact with anything. This is currently only enabled in the new game mode "Experimental". Please try it out and let us know if you notice any bugs with it
- Add a chat to the end of game screen.
Changes
- Mega Boulder's damage is now the following: 5 at the start, then increases by 5 each time it increases in size, up to 20 per bounce max.
- Improved rematching. Rematches no longer happen if all players leave except one.

- Fixed crashes from some edge cases when shooting a Rolling Snowball into mountable minions.

Changes
- Teams can now be selected before the match starts in the lobby.
- Greatly increased the range of Phoenix's Fire Breath absorption.
- Nerfed Rain of Fire's damage from 15 to 10 per fireball.
- Buffed Comet's base damage to 90, and it now digs slightly into terrain before exploding.
- Changed Mega Boulder to 6 bounces x 20 damage per bounce.
- Nerfed Mud Blast's initial damage from 30 to 10.
- Removed the sandbox dummy's knockback resistance.
- Buffed Tree of Life's hp from 35 to 50.
- Increased snowflake count for Snowflake Blast from 16 to 20.

FULL BOOK BONUSES
If you have all spells from a spellbook equipped, you get a new button when joining a match to activate full book bonuses. Activating the bonuses costs 50 HP and gives you various buffs and effects specific to each book.
Arcane
- Arcane Arrows and Arcane Bomb spawn 2 extra arrows.
- Arcane Glyphs spawn an extra outer ring of glyphs.
- Glyph Ball leaves behind a trail of glyphs.
- On activation, you and all your current minions gain the following passive: at the start of your turn, shoot an arcane arrow towards the nearest enemy.
Fire
- The Phoenix's egg form becomes permanently unbreakable.
- Increase the explosion radius of all your explosive fire spells by 50%.
Earth
- Gain permanent Stone Skin (with 2 instead of 5 damage reduction), and replace the Stone Skin spell with Rollout.
- Mud rock projectiles create more terrain.
Water
- Gain permanent Water Skin, and replace the Water Skin spell with Dive.
- Waterball and Water Jet spawn 10 extra droplets.
- Spring Shower spawns 10 extra droplets per turn.
- Whirlpool's height is increased.
Frost
- Gain immunity to being frozen.
- Ice Ring becomes a targetable spell.
- Ice Golem spawns a Frost Imp on death.
- Convert Comet into Mini Comet: drop a small comet that's half the size and damage of Comet, but with a 2turn cooldown and more digging.
Storm
- Lightning Bolt and Lightning Bomb shoot 2 extra bolts.
- All your Chain Lightning projectiles bounce an extra 8 times.
Nature
- Acorns create terrain around where they spawn.
- Overgrowth makes entities even larger.
- On activation, all your existing mushrooms gain the following passive: at the start of your turn, shoot a spore ball towards the nearest enemy.

Cosmetics
- Added Beta Hat and Patreon Supporter Wand to the game. If you played a few games during the beta you will receive the hat. If you supported us on Patreon you will also receive the Supporter Wand.

Changes
- Added player counts to the mode select menu
- Replaced Leaf Arrow and Leaf Storm with new spells Spore Ball and Spore Bomb.
- Spores deal damage on impact and spawn fungus (mushrooms).
- Fungus deals damage to anyone nearby at the start of your turn, every turn, and they cannot be destroyed except by sinking.
- Replaced Nature's Touch with new minion Mantrap: a mountable minion, but every turn it deals 30 damage to whoever is mounted on it. Only entities smaller enough than the mantrap can mount it. The mantrap is also unable to jump.
- New minion spell Vine Tunnel: tunnel through terrain and teleport to where the spell leaves terrain.
- The sandbox dummy now has several of the Tier 3 spells equipped.
- Enabled camera focus by pressing C for missiles, bombs, and environment objects (clouds, whirlpool, volcano, etc).

To keep things fresh while we develop more spell books and other content, we'll be rotating in and out different gamemodes for you all to try out. This weeks gamemode is Boss Battle. One player will selected to be the boss. They'll get increased HP for each other player in the game. The boss player also gets to cast 3 spells per turn. On the other hand, all the other players will get some bonuses too. The biggest one being they get to all take their turn at the same time. This is a small patch to update storm graphics and fix some bugs in the game. This patch also has a few minor balance changes which should improve some degenerative gameplay. Regarding nature, we are still unhappy with how it turned out and will be releasing a rework for the book next. The rework will change a bunch of the spells as well as add minions into the book. We know content has been a little slow. To help this we'll be releasing some fun temporary gamemodes in the next few days. We plan to rotate them in and out to see what players enjoy and to keep them fresh. Stay tuned for more news on the rotating gamemodes. If you have any ideas for a rotating gamemode let us know! This patch will be dropping at 1PM PST (about 30 minutes after this announcement goes live).
Storm Book
- Most visual assets have been finished. We still would like to add some custom explosion animations but we are happy with what we have for now.
Balance Changes
- Blink can no longer be used while in a tower
- Blink now has a 2-turn cooldown
- Chain Lightning now bounces 14 times

- Fixed napalm not triggering acorns
- The water lord's version of Waterball now has the right description

Thank you to @everyone for your patience. Today's patch will drop at 8:00 PM PST (about 3 hours from time of posting). Login Servers will go down at 8:00 PM PST for about 30 minutes in preparation for the patch. This patch will mark a small break in-between new spell books. We will be using the next update(s) to begin removing any rough edges currently in the game. We will continue to incorporate feedback into our development! Keep posting your thoughts, comments and ideas in the appropriate channels! Storm The storm spellbook will be making its debut. Storm spell art assets are currently work-in-progress. Nature Nature fell flat a little on release. We've adjusted many of its cooldowns to better match the power level of the spells. Damage has been added to a few of its spells and increased on ones that already dealt damage. Nature's gameplay will continue to be a work-in-progress, stay tuned for more info regarding changes to the nature spells.
- Natures Touch and Enchanted Sapling have swapped places in the spellbook.
- Empowered Acorn Bomb now creates a ring of terrain when it explodes
- Empowered Mega Acorn Bomb creates a large amount of terrain when it explodes.
- Acorns deal 10 damage up from 5.
- Acorn Bomb deals 10 damage upon explosion.
- Vine Whip deals 50 damage up from 25.
- Leaf Shoot is now a quick cast with 5 max casts.

Wizards will be having an upcoming open beta from the 17th to 18th. If you didn't get a key for the first period, no worries, we're making it really easy this time around to get a beta key. Beta Times will be as follows: October 17th - 12:00PM to 8PM PST October 18th - 12:00PM to 8PM PST This time around there will be an additional spell book for players to test! You'll have to wait and see which one it is. Wizards will be holding a beta this August (exact dates to be released soon). During the beta, our main focus will be stress testing the servers and fix bugs. To help with this we will be taking the following measures.
- Custom lobbies will be open but ranked matchmaking and normal matchmaking will be disabled.
- The map editor and workshop will also be enabled so go crazy.
- Only 4 of the 9 spell books will be enabled.
- Spells will need to be unlocked using in-game currency that can be earned from just playing.
- Item drops will also be enabled so you can begin to earn cosmetic upgrades.
- Cosmetic micro-transactions will most likely be disabled so we can focus on improving game-play

This is our first Steam announcement and we thought it would be most appropriate to make it about our community. Everyone's support has been absolutely astonishing on Discord, Twitter, and even a few posts on our Steam discussion boards. In our opinion, some of the best games out there are ones that allow players to create content within them. As developers, we want our players to be able to shape their experience playing Wizards to their liking. Luckily, that's where giving power to our communities really shines. We want to empower our community with workshop tools. Our game will come bundled with a map editor so you can submit maps easily for all to play. I've put up a few test maps on the workshop, and obviously they are horrible but I am a programmer not an artist. steamhappy In the next few weeks we are hoping to release a map editor tool early so everyone can start brainstorming and uploading maps to the workshop. In addition, costume editors are free to submit their costume designs on the workshop as well. The community will be able to vote on their favorite designs. Ranked Play
Think you're the best wizard in town? Prove it in Ranked. Ranked offers a greater challenge for players willing to commit. Current modes include 1v1's and 2v2's. Customize your character and discover advanced tactics to climb the leaderboards and become the world's best wizard. The top five wizards in any season will join the next seasons "Council of Archmages". These 5 top players will be displayed for everyone to see and also receive a special apparel item.
