This update for the Multiplayer Public Beta includes new features and various bug fixes for problems reported by you, the players. Thanks for sending in your feedback, it's an essential part of getting multiplayer ready for everyone. If you'd like to join the public beta, visit our website to learn all the details. Heart of the Wildfire and Keeper of the Forbidden Wilds are now playable in the beta in both single player and multiplayer modes. A new multiplayer status panel is accessible in the bottom left corner. You can use this panel to see what other players are up to. It includes a "full resync" option that can get everyone back in sync if something goes wrong. Now by default, if you are controlling a single spirit you will automatically start in Spirit Focus mode for that spirit in multiplayer. You can switch to seeing all spirits by using the +/- buttons in the corners if you prefer. If you have multiple Reclaim One options available, there is a new interface that makes it more clear how to reclaim (and undo reclaim) from the discard pile. A wide variety of multiplayer voting instances have been eliminated or reduced. We are continuing to work on various areas to streamline multiplayer gameplay by reducing voting and allowing simultaneous choices for different players, where possible. Please note that several items are still in development and are not yet available:
- Various scenarios are not yet playable in multiplayer
- Communication features such as text chat and planning indicators
- In-game invites via URL/Discord
- Intermittent disconnections will no longer cause players to get out of sync.
- Serpent Slumbering Beneath the Island can now properly get its "Any" elements when uncovered.
- Fixed problems related to Spirit Focus mode in multiplayer.
- The Rituals of Terror scenario is now playable in multiplayer.
- If you vote for Finish Playing Cards and then play or un-play a card, your vote will be cancelled.

In the most distant reaches of the world, magic still exists, embodied by spirits of the land, of the sky, and of every natural thing. As the great powers of Europe stretch their colonial empires further and further, they will inevitably lay claim to a place where spirits still hold power - and when they do, the land itself will fight back alongside the islanders who live there.
Spirit Island is a cooperative, settler-destruction strategy game designed by R. Eric Reuss and set in an alternate-history world around A.D. 1700. Players become different spirits of the land, each with their own unique elemental powers, forced to defend their island home from colonizing Invaders spreading blight and destruction. Your spirits work with the native islanders to increase your power and drive the invading colonists from your island in this strategic area-control game.
In Spirit Island, players choose between 1-4 spirits to control. The number of spirits determines the size of the island:
Spirit Island is planned to include the following:

- Over 50 distinct Major and Minor Powers which Spirits can grow into
- A modular island, made up of 4 modular Boards, for a variety of layouts
- 15 Invader cards, driving a distinctive Invader expansion system
- 15 Fear cards, showing what happens as you terrify the Invader
- 3 multi-tier Adversaries (specific Invaders) for play variety and fine-tuned challenge: England, Brandenburg-Prussia, and Sweden
- 4 optional Scenarios for even more play variety
