v1.22: VR Fix (and latest Focus Engine)v1.22 is a minor update, bringing the underlying Focus Engine to v4.14.8.
This should fix validation VR errors on startup, among possibly other minor performance issues.
This is my first update pushed on a new computer, so hopefully everything went fine :-D

[ 2022-06-28 15:59:20 CET ] [ Original post ] v1.20: Fix world generation consistency for same seedsI found a problem in world generation, similar to an issue I had with 8089, that caused consistent seeds to not be generated properly from world names. Now overall maps should be the same when using the same seed, which is particularly important for speedruns. Enemies, blocks and "tree" limbs will still be different for each map, as these are random small variations.

- Updated to the latest Focus Engine, which now runs on .NET 6. This should improve performance. It also includes the runtime, which should improve future compatibility
- Minor fixes to the resolution pulldown UI & restarting the application when something different is selected
- Other minor improvements related to the latest Focus Engine update (some smoother intro animations etc.)

- Abilities should reset to level 1 now when starting new games, regardless of previous games played
- Maximum capacity of weapons should now increase normally with level upgrades on new games (wasn't calculated or saved correctly before -- old saves will still function oddly)
- Charge Shot balancing: it upgraded exponentially too quickly before and was overpowered. It now is a bit weaker and upgrades slower
- Fixed a bug that caused cooldowns to not set properly when firing other weapons
- Upgraded FPS Infinite to the latest Focus Engine v3.25.1 (OpenXR + other improvements)

FPS Infinite has been upgraded to the latest engine, which now uses OpenXR for virtual reality! Please use SteamVR as your OpenXR runtime, as it is the only one supported. This change comes with much better controller support. Performance and Vulkan improvements are included, too.

1) Fixed the endgame timer to display the time correctly, instead of just 0:00
2) Fixed the mouse rotating unexpectedly when clicking different buttons
3) Fixed particles not rendering on Linux (got rid of the noparticles argument)
4) Improved position updates from OpenVR to reduce latency
5) Updated MacOS libraries, although Mac is not well supported (since OSX doesn't support Vulkan and support through MoltenVK is experimental).
6) Updated to Focus Engine v3.18.8 (which has other minor fixes/performance improvements)
7) Includes NET 5 in Mac/Linux builds now as standalone runtime

[ 2021-06-21 21:37:34 CET ] [ Original post ] v1.16: Fullscreen/Scaling Fix + 5089 Sequel UpdateFPS Infinite's engine was updated to Focus Engine v3.17, which includes a fix for Windows 10 scaling (should help setting resolutions and fullscreen modes when Windows 10 scaling is enabled). Various Vulkan rendering improvements are included too, which may get rid of any remaining very rare crashes.
5089's Sequel is undergoing balancing and testing has moved onto Steam recently, although there isn't a public page for it yet. Head over to the Discord to show your interest in being a tester, see screenshots and talk about it -- including all other games of mine:

If you still have issues, or have new issues, you may have a distribution with an old libc6 version (like Debian). Use the "beta" branch called "old_libc6" if this is the case. I updated to SDL v2.0.14, which requires more recent libc6.

Other engine improvements include Vulkan updates (memory allocation) which may help some AMD systems particularly.
5089's sequel recently received an internal visuals update and the story is being written. New testers have been brought in, and one of them could be you! Join the Discord to see updates and be considered for testing.

This update should address the crashes, but depending on your scaling settings, you may still notice some odd behavior -- I recommend disabling the Windows 10 "fix blurry apps" option if you have scaling enabled and want to use this game fullscreen.
OpenVR has been updated to v1.14.15.

I removed the "teleport" VR mode, which didn't fit the genre and had its issues. Instead, a dynamic field of view reduction system is put in its place to manage motion sickness. It can be enabled in Options. If you had VR Teleport movement enabled before, this new Comfort Mode will be enabled already.

v1.4.23 fixes a lockup when hitting buttons during pause in fullscreen.

[ 2020-03-30 00:42:34 CET ] [ Original post ] VR Update: Snap turn traditional head movementYou asked for it, you got it! Snap turning can be enabled in Options, and the traditional head movement is now default (but can be turned off in Options).
The right touchpad's left/right is used to perform 90 degree turns when "Snap Turn" is enabled. If you have a saved game using those buttons already, make sure you reassign them in-game using the handheld display (you can point to abilities to reassign them).
Hopefully things are stable & I can start focusing on the next big thing: 5089's sequel!

- Added an option to swap VR joystick and touchpad control for movement (this should be especially useful for WMR & Index users)
- Fixed a bug that made Q & E always move up and down on the map. Now Jump will move up on the map
- Reduced the damage volume from constant damage sources (like spike balls or fire)
- VR options, like hold angle, should be applied consistently after restarts
- Reduced the size of the VR in-game UI when not using it
- Fixed charge shot volume to adjust with sound effect volume

FPS Infinite is a "Metroidvania" (similar to Metroid Prime) where the enemies, weapons, levels and item placements are procedurally generated. You'll need to explore each unique world for new abilities, which will unlock new areas. Many abilities can be upgraded, but choose wisely -- do you extend your grappling hook or lengthen the time you can be invisible?
Your goal is to find the Forbidden Phr00t in each world, which will trigger the world to blow up! You must escape safely in the dynamically calculated time to win.
FPS Infinite supports Custom Game Modes and a Speedrunning mode that will automatically calculate time splits.
Vulkan is required, so make sure you have the latest GPU drivers! 64-bit OS also required! Binaries are provided also for Mac and Linux, which have been tested to work, but support is low. Virtual Reality is only supported on 64-bit Windows 10 with SteamVR.
