With this update we hope to fix the most common crash we saw, which is an out of VRAM error. We completely reworked the way how we store the ingame textures, reducing the overall size of the game by almost 2 GB and reducing the overall VRAM usage heavily as well. Also, most rendered objects now require about 30% less texture lookups, which may result in some performance gains depending on your system.

- Repacked most of the ingame textures
- Changed opponent paint job on European Forest 5 & American Desert 3
- Fixed SteamVR overlay making the game unresponsive in some cases
- Fixed bridges loading the wrong model
- Fixed controller switch track button not resetting when releasing controller
- Fixed cars not stopping when releasing controller at low throttle
- Fixed long black screen when launching the game
- Fixed several small internal issues
- Fixed a bug that caused workshop maps to always load in the cellar IMPORTANT: If you have a map uploaded to the workshop, this will not repair it, unfortunately. You'll need to reupload it for this to be fixed.

- Fixed a bug that caused other players to be able to pick up your car while driving
- Fixed ingame music volume not applying until restarting the game
- Fixed several small internal issues
- Fixed an issue introduced with 1.0.1 that caused the page buttons on the object table to not work
- Added automatic crash reporting - this should help us identify and fix crashes and other bugs in the game
- Added race cancel button for campaign - this is currently campaign exclusive but will be ported to single- and multiplayer in the future
- Changed the controller power curve
- Fixed an issue that sometimes the main menu was more transparent than it should be
- Fixed some odd hitbox behavior

Updated System Requirements
The system requirements previously stated on our storepage we're an estimate. However, the game has become much more demanding than we expected, so we needed to increase them. The new requirements are as follows: Minimum Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 10 Processor: Intel Core i5-6600k or equivalent AMD Ryzen Memory: 4 GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1070 or equivalent AMD card (8 GB VRAM recommended) DirectX: Version 11 Sound Card: Any sound card Broadband internet connection recommended for online multiplayer. Recommended Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 10 Processor: Intel Core i5-7600k or equivalent AMD Ryzen Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia RTX 2080 or equivalent AMD card DirectX: Version 11 Sound Card: Any sound card Broadband internet connection recommended for online multiplayer.
Regarding Linux support
In the past we've advertised the game as having a native Linux version. Unfortunately, we need to cancel the version as a result of a recent engine upgrade where Linux support has been dropped by the engine. We've hoped that support would be added back quickly, however this didn't occur yet. We've extensively tested the game with Proton and can confirm that the game is working perfectly fine with it. We'll look out for opportunities to restore the Linux version and will release it in the future if we can.
Hello everybody! The playtest is now live! For those who haven't registered, registrations will remain open until December 24th at 7 P.M. CET.
Features
The playtest contains most of the game's features:
- Track editor with full set of tracks and scenery objects
- Race mode with all cars except campaign related cars
- Time of day settings
- Multiplayer
Linux
For those who wanted to play the playtest on Linux, we have some bad news for you. Since a recent engine upgrade we've done the Linux support for SteamVR is currently broken and therefore a native Linux build is currently not possible. However, we've tested the game with Proton and it works fine and currently we see this as a temporary solution for the problem. We hope you'll be having fun during the playtest!
Hello everybody! With us getting the game closer to how we'd like it to be, we're giving you the opportunity to help us test the game before we're releasing it to the wild!
How do I join?
You can join the playtest by navigating to our storepage and clicking the Request Access button.
Please note that we'll only allow a certain number of people at a time, so we can't guarantee that everyone will receive access.
When will the playtest start?
If everything goes to plan, the playtest will start on December 17th, 2020 at 7 PM CET. If this changes we'll let you know.
When will the playtest end?
This depends on how many issues arise. We currently anticipate ending the playtest on December 31st, 2020 at 7 PM CET, exactly 2 weeks later. However, we will lengthen the test if necessary.
What will be included?
As this playtest is supposed to test the entirety of the game, we'll include everything that's ready. Since we're still working on several things, we can't say exactly what'll be included. We'll share more details prior to the playtest. It's possible however that more features will be added during the playtest.
Do I need to sign an NDA?
No. You can talk about it as much as you'd like, to whomever you like. Please remember however, if you'd like to for example make videos on YouTube, consider that the playtest is a non-final version and will most likely not be perfect. We'd like you to make this obvious.
How can I give feedback?
When given access to the playtest, you'll automatically receive access to the playtest's community hub. Any feedback should be given there. Feedback is very important for us so feel free to give as much as you like. Bugs, suggestions, questions, everything is appreciated.
Hello everybody! Unfortunately, we'll not be sharing any new screenshots today, as there's not really anything relevant to show right now. More about that at the end of the devblog. But because we still want to give you some new information, we'll share some info about the singleplayer campaign that is currently in development.
Environments
The campaign consists of 3 environments with 9 maps each, totalling at 21 maps.
- European Countryside
- American Desert
- International Racecup
Medals
For completing a race, you can get either a bronze, a silver or a gold medal, depending on your place. After completing an environment with all medals of a certain type, you unlock the next one.
Rewards
When completing the first environment, you'll unlock a special car. This car will get visual upgrades in the next environments. The car is balanced to be similar to other cars to not give campaign players an unfair advantage. Which car this will be will remain a secret for now.
Online Leaderboards
Every campaign map has an online leaderboard. Do your best, maybe you'll set a world record! Races are also saved as a replay, allowing you to watch the records of other players.
Regarding the Release
We've stated in the past that we'd like to release in summer of 2020. We've already stated last devblog that this will not be possible (summer is over afterall). The main reason the game is not out yet is because it was a lot more work than anticipated and there are a lot of things all over the place that still need to be done. The game is generally playable, but it's not the way we want it yet. Because we want to avoid releasing the game as an Early Access title, we'll be pushing it back as much as we need until we think it's ready for a full release. We know that nobody likes to wait, but it's better in this case. This is also why we don't have a release date yet, it's just too hard to estimate the time we may need. The earliest is December, but depending on how it goes it might even slip into January 2021 or later. We'll let you know when we know more. Stay tuned and stay safe!
Hello everybody! Today's devblog is all about scenery. The screenshots we're sharing today are from some of the upcoming campaign maps. The campaign itself will be the topic of a later devblog. We don't have that much to say, so let's get to the screenshots!
American Desert
European Countryside
International Racecup
Delay
Unfortunately, as summer is coming to an end, we've missed our original release window. While we're sorry that the game will take a bit longer, we think it's for the best. We won't release this game until we are fully certain that it meets the standard that we've set ourselves, and currently the game doesn't meet this standard yet. We are hoping to get the game out the door before the end of the year, however at the moment we're uncertain if that will be possible. Stay tuned and stay safe!
Hello everybody! The team is back from some hot summer vacation weeks. We unfortunately have to alter this month's devblog a little because we had to do a lot on the backend of the game so most of the scenery is not yet ready to show. We apologize for that but we still have a little something to show.
American & European Tracks
We've added two completely new designs for the tracks. And sure, we have big plans for them.
American
European
Bridges
We also finished work on the bridges, so that you are now able to build your tracks even more exciting.
This wraps up this rather short blog. Stay tuned!
Hello everybody! Today we want to reveal a new feature:
Times of Day
This is a feature we've always wanted to do, however we originally scrapped it due to technical limitations. We've finally overcome these limits, bringing you the ability to see your tracks in a completely different light (literally!) Slotracers VR will release with 4 different times of day, available on all maps.
Morning
Day
Evening
Night
This wraps up the second state of development blog. We want to make these more regularly, given that the last one dates back over 3 months already. The next devblog will go into closer detail about all the new scenery that we've been adding. Stay tuned and stay safe!
Hello everybody! We've got some great news! Slotracers VR will be playable during the Steam Game Festival, coming June 16th. The game will be playable as a limited demo up until June 22nd. [previewyoutube=w2JJOZD0qA0;full][/previewyoutube]
Important information
- The demo will be free for everyone. It will be removed from your library at the end of the event.
- The demo will not contain all cars. Only a small selection will be available.
- The demo will not have workshop support or achievements.
- The version available will be from our current beta version and will not be representative of the final product. Bugs are to be expected. (If you find any, please tell us!)
AMA
We'll be hosting an AMA in our community hub on June 16th at 7 PM CEST. The AMA will last for 2 hours. You may ask anything you want, questions about the game, the team, or anything else. A thread for the AMA will be created by us when the event starts.
Delay
If you've seen this post before, you might have noticed that the date has changed. This is because Valve has decided to postpone the festival by a week. We hope you'll be trying out the game when the event starts. Stay safe!

Hello everybody! In this first entry of our probably not regularly posted blog about the state of development, we'd like to introduce you to a feature that we haven't yet shown to the public.
Multiple Maps
We added more maps to the game. Previously only the cellar, shown on our storepage, was available.
-
Cellar
The cellar is the map already shown on previous screenshots. A large rectangular room without much furniture, perfect for building a large racetrack. -
Attic
The attic is a slightly smaller map. However, it does offer a lot of space and for most cases it's large enough. -
Bedroom
The bedroom is a map targeted to those who'd like to build on the floor. Being the smallest of the 3 maps, it doesn't offer much space to build on tables. However, you can build nice tracks if you use the space efficiently.
Car Rework
We've been reworking some of the car models and textures as we felt that they weren't all on par with the newer cars. While we only have one example to show, we are currently working on several more cars.
Release Date
As a quick note about our release date, we still don't have a date to announce yet, but we are confident that we'll be ready to launch in mid to late summer. As soon as we have an actual date to announce, we'll announce it in it's own post. This wraps up our first state of development blog. Stay safe and we'll see you next time!
