As you may have noticed, a little more than two weeks ago we released a free demo of Whateverland, which features the beginning of Vincents journey. The response from you has been great, we never thought it would be so rewarding to release our prologue.
We received a lot of valuable feedback from the players, fixed many bugs, and made some changes to UI and controls. And we will keep working in order to make your experience with our game as enjoyable as possible not only by regularly updating the demo but also on the release of the full game. Weve already fixed many issues in the latest update of the Prologue, and will continue to improve it!
Creating a community around our game has been a very rewarding process as well. Thanks to our Kickstarter campaign, we met a lot of wonderful people, some of which have generously helped us with translating the Prologue into several languages. We've already added Chinese localization, as well as German.
So, if you want to become a part of our community, or simply reach out to us for whatever reason, we have a Discord server that you can join and get all the latest news on the development of Whateverland. Welcome aboard!
While Kickstarter has been taking a lot of our time (no, really, we never expected it to be that demanding) and effort, the majority of our team is actively working on the game itself, and soon we'll have a lot of new stuff to tease you with. It is impossible not to mention how much the support from the players means to us. It is a pleasure to work in this new environment because we know that many of you are waiting for our game. It motivates us to do better and strive for perfection, even when our working routines are far from getting back to normal anytime soon.
Actually, there is something new that we'd like to show you today. Right now we're actively working on one of the chapters of Whateverland, where Vincent will have to deal with an insufferable Russian aristocrat, Van, and his disobedient servant, Zachary.
As always, you will have the opportunity to get Van's piece of the spell in two different ways. We can't tell you what you'll have to do without spoiling all the fun, of course, but we can show you a half-backed part of the location you're going to explore while figuring it out. Please note that everything you see is a work-in-progress version of the characters and backgrounds subject to change.
By the way, can you spot a familiar face in this living room? If you can, let us know ;)

Weve added German and Chinese translations! Apart from that, weve been hearing a lot of feedback from you. Thank you for all the bug reports and ideas. Were going to fix everything as soon as possible, but for now, here is whats changed in the last update:
- Fixed the achievement bug
- Updated UI. Making a system thats going to be comfortable for all players turned out to be not that east at all. But we hear you and will try to improve UI in every update.
- Fixed the problem with one lockpick not being visible on screens with a certain resolution.
- Fixed the language switching back to English after quitting the game. Also, now the game language will sync with your Steam language.
- Fixed the problem with widescreens.
- Fixed the font size in the Russian version.

Hello, lovely Whateverlanders! We've been in quarantine for over three months now, and life is still in no hurry to get back to normal. Of course, this adds to the frustration of our team, because we can't get together, which makes many aspects of our work on the game much more complicated. But there's always a silver lining, folks! You'll see that for yourself once you listen to the main theme of Whateverland performed live by our awesome musicians, straight from self-isolation. Andrey Tyulenev, Caligari Games sound designer and composer, about the process behind creating Whateverlands soundtrack:
I wanted to limit the number of instruments used in the game from the start to encourage myself to come up with new approaches to my own original ideas. Limitations boost creativity and all that. Inspiration for Whateverland came from very different sources from French Chanson, Balkan and Gypsy music to Alfred Schnittke. I also wanted to create a soundtrack with memorable melodies, like the music in many Soviet movies and cartoons. Music in Whateverland is supposed to sound like something that could be performed by a small local town band just as strange as the world around them. The desire to record live instruments came about because working with musicians always makes the sound not only feel more vibrant but also adds a lot of subtleties to each part as every performer brings something different to the table. So the end result gets much more daring, interesting, and textured. I'm really looking forward to working with each performer on their part and hear their ideas.[/quote] Love, Caligari Games

Hi everyone!
We hope that you're enjoying the Prologue so far! It has come to our attention that some players encountered a bug that prevented the game from starting. Good news is, we fixed it! So, if you had any troubles with that, everything has to run smoothly now.
Also, let us take this opportunity to remind you that you can make bug reports on our Discord server or via support@caligarigames.com.

Whateverland: Prologue is a glimpse into the universe of an upcoming adventure game.
Whateverland is a hand-painted point-n-click adventure game with a branching dialogue system, non-linear gameplay, various endings, and unique in-game turn-based strategy sports simulator.
Vincent is a skilled thief who decides to steal a precious necklace from a mansion of a lonely old lady named Beatrice. His plan would have gone perfectly well, but when she catches him red-handed, she turns out to be an ancient and powerful witch. As a punishment, Beatrice sends him to the parallel world she has created, where the witch traps those she considers her enemies. The first inhabitants of this bizarre world called it Whateverland, and since then it kind of stuck. Vincent teams up with a weird guy named Nick, and together they are willing to find their way out.
Are they going to make it? That's up to you!
