    Hey friends, Primal Light is now available on Switch & Xbox! It's been 5 years since Jeff and I started work on Primal Light. It's been 2 years since we released it on PC.     Hi my buff blue buddies, A small hotfix is live, correcting some unforeseen side effects from the recent update of Primal Light to Godot v3.4. Thanks to all the vigilant Kroggies who reported issues on Steam and Discord. In addition to fixing the above, I've also solved a longstanding problem w/ controller input periodically not registering, which a few people had brought to my and Jeff's attention in the Steam forums.   • Fixed issue with bad player physics on moving platforms
  • Fixed issue with Wall Crawl Projectiles not following walls in Stage 3 boss fight
  • Fixed issue with camera loading in incorrect position when player enters a room with two camera rects
  • Fixed issue with Stage 9 boss behavior repetition
  • Fixed issue with left/right controller input periodically not registering (happened because of stick + dpad interaction)
  • Fixed issue with stick input sensitivity on menus
  • Fixed issue with horizontal input on menus changing vertical selection

    Howdy Krogonians, The 7th patch of Primal Light is here! The game's engine has been updated to Godot v3.4 in an attempt to resolve a rare issue with less common controllers not being detected (fingers crossed). You can now disable vibrations from the Controller menu as well. Changelog: [olist]

  • Primal Light 2.0

    Hi everybody, Primal Light 2.0 has arrived! This is a substantial update to the game that includes new art assets, New Game Plus (NG+) functionality, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements. Below is the full changelog. [olist]

  • New environmental assets in many levels
  • NG+ functionality, where progressively difficult playthroughs unlock each time you beat the previous playthrough. NG+ and beyond have enemies with more health and a new enemy type deviously placed in a handful of locations throughout the game (Jeff and I may be adding more enemy variations in the future)
  • When you beat the game, your save file will automatically convert to NG+, but you can also start a new game choosing whichever NG+ you have unlocked
  • NG+ indicator now displayed on the Data Select Menu
  • NG+ indicator now displayed on the Inventory Menu
  • Video options (display resolution, vsync, screenshake, and screenflash) now save between sessions
  • Version number is now displayed on the Option Menu
  • Version number is now displayed on the Summary Screen
  • Debris particles in Level 10 are now crystals instead of wooden planks
  • Turkish language
  • Fixed misspelling of "anonymous"
  • Revamped save system. It should look and function exactly the same as beforejust some back end changes were necessary
  • Fixed bug w/ some one-way platforms not allowing the player to drop through them

    Howdy Krogonians, Update #5 is live! This update brings substantial changes to easy mode, making the game more accessible to those new to the genre. Below is the full changelog.

    General

  • Renamed difficulty modes (Relaxed, Veteran, Hardcore)
  • Reference player personas in difficulty mode summaries, so that players have an easier time choosing a difficulty that suits them
  • Stages do not restart when you Game Over on Relaxed mode
  • Bosses have slightly less HP on Relaxed mode
  • You now start with 7 lives on Relaxed mode (rather than 9)
  • Merchants now sell 3 lives on Relaxed mode (rather than 2)
  • The charm that shows enemy health is now the first charm that you can acquire
  • The charm that shows enemy health now shows boss health
  • Swapped Max Health Up with collectible in Stage 2 to make it less likely to be missed

    Howdy Krogophiles, The second patch of Primal Light is live! This patch addresses additional feedback we received since last week's release. The most noteworthy item is a fix for a bug that was causing crashes for Mac and Linux users at the end of Stage 4. Below is the full changelog.

  • Damage buff duration has been increased from 1 sec to 2 sec
  • Added sign before big gap in Stage 1 that reads "Try a late jump!"

  • Widened Yeti hurt box
  • Changed Yeti position in Stage 6 challenge room
  • Added fog pit in ledge to ledge room of Stage 8, so players know it's bottomless

    Howdy Krogsters, I am happy to announce that the first patch of Primal Light has just gone live! This patch addresses the most common feedback we received in the first 3 days after release. A summary of the changes is below.

    General

  • The Select Difficulty Menu now shows a description of each difficulty
  • Beating the game on one difficulty will now grant you Steam achievements for any easier difficulty
  • Cutscenes can now be skipped by holding Jump, Attack, or Enter
  • Camera has been adjusted in various rooms making it easier to tell when certain jumps and falls are safe
  • Retracting platforms in Stage 3 have been fine tuned with longer timers and less possibility for going out of sync
  • Removed first merchant in Stage 8, for better balancing
  • Stage 9 boss adjusted to be more dynamic [/olist]

  • Fixed issue causing player to get stuck in crouch mode beneath low one-way platforms
  • Fixed issue with bonfire activation persisting across save slots if you quit from the pause menu

  • Where possible, fixed bottomless pits so that coins do not bounce out of them
  • Fixed issue with getting stuck in the geometry on a certain transition in Stage 3

    Release Approval

    Hey fellow Krogians, I am thrilled to announce that Steam has officially approved Primal Light for release on July 09, 2020! Jeff and I never imagined three years ago when we started whiling away our mortal hours with game dev that we'd be releasing a game on Steam, let alone a game like Primal Light, something that we are immensely proud of.
