What to expect in the mega update
First, the many changes that will come with the update will be a full face lift. Cat Warfare will have heavy optimizations and a change to the core gameplay, Many of the optimizing changes includes: graphical upgrades, smoother gameplay and better FPS (Frames Per Second). Speaking of optimizations, the multiplayer net-code has been updated and now has better hit reg for hitboxes. Many of the lobby and hosting has been changed as well, players would be able to add passwords to their server and customize the settings based on how they want to play. With the changes of the lobby and host systems this also includes how players join the servers, no more round breaking bugs or mid game joining errors, servers will allow players to join mid game and won't kick them back to the menu soft locking the game. Updates to the servers and net-code will now allow 100 CCU (Concurrent Users) when the update rolls out, even if there is a limit to the amount of players that can be connect to the Cat Warfare servers, this will be upgraded as more frequent players play the game. The gameplay will be updated significantly and will introduce many new features. The big one would be how the player moves around the levels, you would have the ability to strafe jump or more known as dodging, this will aid the player in finding new spots or even getting the upper hand on your opponent. The second biggest gameplay element coming with this update is the all new double damage, this does what the name suggests, It will boost your weapons damage and give you an advantage over your opponent. Weapons have been updated and new features a shotgun into the mix, the original weapons are fairly the same but has been given an upgrade and most of the weapons have balanced fire modes. Jump pads have also been added to allow players to get around the level in a more vertical manner. Gamemodes has been in the works for quite some time now, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch will be the first to be in the mega update, as more smaller updates roll in, more gamemodes will be worked on and eventually Capture the flag and Instagib will be added. Graphics has been a huge part of Cat Warfare and making them look good and still allow players to get a constant high FPS (Frames Per Second) is the goal. All levels will now include baked lighting and have static lighting elements to improve the FPS. New cat models with more of a anatomically correct base and new weapons to fit the art style of the game.
This update has been taking a long time as the game has been rebuilt from the ground up, the old project of Cat Warfare was stored away and the new project was born. - Not-So Classic Games
