v1.52 Patch Notes

Hi folks, We have just released an update for DemonCrawl that includes a couple quality of life improvements, foundational work for localization and mod support, and a number of important bug fixes - full patch notes are below! ---

New Features

Added a "posthumous hint" effect to show where you could have moved if you lose the quest

Quality of Life

Refactored event trigger code for better localization and (eventual) mod support
We can now load event-driven item strings from external JSON files
- For example, if you want to change the Extra Pocket text that appears when you enter a stage, you would add a line called "Extra Pocket_msg_ENTER_STAGE" to English.json
- Dynamic text can be added to strings in the form of letter variables, e.g. "Reduced the stage power by $A!"
- Most items do not utilize this new system quite yet... but they will soon! Proper documentation to follow as well.
Finality omen now creates a toast notification when you die

Balance Changes

Mastery start-of-stage effects--e.g. Spark and Spy--will now trigger before your items

Bug Fixes

Fixed regression related to level-up lag
Fixed crash related to Bubbler III
Fixed crash related to strangers dropping loot
Cleaned up hover detection on some UI elements
Set fake cell value cap of +12 to match visuals
Fixed certain item properties lingering after item transformation
Fixed a few rare instances of omen and passive negation interfering with special item properties
Strings are now loaded at the start of the game, rather than every time a profile is selected
Fixed a few instances of lingering particles between menus
Fixed a crash related to stepping through a dimensional portal with Shadowbind
Speculative fix for Novice I reading the board state incorrectly following chords

Gamemodes galore: in addition to standard Quests, we've got Endless Multiverse, a daily Hero Trial, an extra-tough 3-stage mode called Beyond, a simple Tutorial, and yes, even a Classic mode for the purists.
22 unlockable Masteries: enhance your runs with passive effects and charged abilities! Are you more of a KNIGHT or a SURVIVOR? A perilous HUNTER or a penny-pinching BANKER? A glorious FIREFLY or a special SNOWFLAKE?

Customize your profile with cosmetics: build up your collection of Avatars and Inventories, then get wild with super-rare Paint drops... assuming you're lucky enough to find one!
Online leaderboards for DemonCrawl savants: there's a leaderboard for every quest in Hard mode and above - including the daily Hero Trial. All scores are cross-platform, which means you get to flex on mobile players. (Sorry mobile players)
There's a crafting system too: solve blueprints, then craft your favorite items at will. Available in Hard Mode.
Over 100 achievements and yes they are tough.
