After releasing the last update, I went away on vacation for a few weeks. Since I've been back, I've been spending a lot of time on improving the Steam Deck / Linux versions of the game. I've finally optimized them to a place where I was getting about 60fps on Low and 30fps on Medium settings on the Steam Deck.

I've also added a handful of new objectives that will appear in the Objective Log throughout the game. These objectives are not for new content - but rather slightly more direction for players who get lost, forget Audrey's last message, or are returning to the game after an extended break.

But that's not all I've been up to! Check out what else is new in the full patch notes below.

New Features


  • Added some new objectives that will appear in the Objective Log throughout the game
  • Added a setting to cap the Max Framerate in the "Video" tab (default is Unlimited)
  • Added a setting to toggle Screen Shake in the "Other" tab (the camera motion that occurs from damage, visual effects, etc.)
  • Added a setting to toggle Movement Tilt in the "Other" tab (the slight camera motion that occurs when moving around)

Fixes & Improvements

  • Greatly improved CPU and GPU performance in Steam Deck / Linux builds
  • Fixed crashes that would occur randomly while playing in Steam Deck / Linux builds
  • Fixed multiple shader issues that only existed in Steam Deck / Linux builds
  • Fixed multiple post-processing effects that were broken in Steam Deck / Linux builds
  • Slightly improved CPU performance across all platforms
  • Moved "Physics Sim Framerate" and "Smart Object Culling" settings to the "Video" tab (so all performance-impacting settings are in one place)
  • Renamed the "Camera Sway" setting in the "Other" tab to "Vision Sway"
  • The Objective Log will now immediately update when completing certain objectives that require using items
  • Slightly changed the tutorial to progress when the player breaks the top window (instead of requiring an object to be thrown through it)
  • Prevented the player from scrolling between weapons during cinematics
  • Prevented "Smart Object Culling" from running while the game is paused

Version 1.3.1 is now live!

Version 1.3.1
With an influx of new players, we've managed to unearth some issues that have mostly slipped by until now. While I was looking into these, I also made some improvements that could lead to better performance overall. I was going to release v1.3.0 a few days ago, but I managed to solve some very elusive issues shortly after putting that together. So now we're at v1.3.1 instead. Not the most exciting patch, but still an important one!

Fixes & Improvements


  • Fixed an issue where some things could respawn/duplicate on load
  • Changed the Death tutorial message to be more clear about getting reduced rewards at the end of a run
  • Fixed an issue where the game could freeze for a few seconds (or crash) when picking up an item for the first time
  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur on load
  • Slightly improved save/load performance
  • Fixed a rare issue where an enemy could become stuck in an animation when speedrunning the game
  • Fixed a very rare freeze that could only occur in the intro
  • Fixed a small issue where camera rotation could be slightly tilted in the end sequence
  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur randomly due to object culling
  • Slightly improved "Smart Object Culling" performance
  • Fixed an issue where audio settings wouldn't update on load

Version 1.2.0 is now live!

Version 1.2.0
With the bulk of the issues out of the way, I was able to spend some time on a few new features I've been wanting to add. Mostly relating to items and combinations. Check it out!

New Features


  • Added the P19-EX to the Rewards Shop (a fully automatic P19 with a new look and some other improvements)
  • Re-designed the textures and overall look of the P19 to bring it more in line with the other weapons
  • Added Minty Paste, Chalky Paste, and Meaty Paste (acquired by combining old food items with Acid)
  • Added Salted Blood Honey (similar to the other new foods, but more self-explanatory)

Fixes & Improvements

  • Fixed an issue that could cause items to sometimes respawn upon loading or dying
  • Improved loading performance in some scenarios
  • Fixed a rare issue that could cause key items to move to unintended locations
  • Fixed a rare issue that could cause breakable items to break on load

Version 1.1.0 is now live!

Version 1.1.0
Since release I've been taking in all the feedback and reports from the community and compiling it in to one massive list to chip away at. Despite the amount of tasks on there, I've been quite motivated since the release. So I ended up burning through the list basically non-stop the past few days. Since this is more of a feedback & issues patch, there isn't much new content, but I do plan on working on that next. Anyways, on to the list!

  • Added 3 new Misc Settings for Crouch, Sprint, and Aim toggles

  • Fixed various small animations that weren't fully cleared when dying/reloading
  • Fixed a bug where you could load in to the game with an empty inventory
  • Prevented the Inspect menu from being opened while transmuting items
  • Fixed a ladder not releasing the player at the bottom in the cavern
