A major update for "Mutated Muter's Invasion" to enhance gameplay experience is out! Some key points are:
- The screen/window dimensions and the in-game pixel-wise render zone are re-factored to match 1920x1080 instead of 1696x960, as this gives a better view field for this game's sprite/object sizes;
- NEW CONTENT: Better graphics and animations for some objects (particularly some enemies) and updated soundtrack;
- fixes and improvements to the user interface;
- Enhancements to the clarity of textual information, especially in the tutorial

Confused over the gameplay mechanics and/or controls? No more worries! With the newly added tutorial level, you can say goodbye to the confusion and focus on beating the game. The tutorial level will not reveal everything the game has to offer, though, as it is not meant to be a spoiler steammocking. However, it WILL walk you through the basics that you need to know. Also, as a reminder, it is now the Summer Sale, so use your chance to get "Mutated Muter's Invasion" with a discount!

Dear Un-Muters, After a productive Early Access stage, "Mutated Muter's Invasion" has now been feature-updated to transition to full release! Players can now enjoy all the long-planned features. During Early Access, many improvements and updates had been happening, of which not all were possible to cover in announcements. This includes both internal improvements to the code (e.g. to improve performance) and visible changes (e.g. balancing the gameplay more). "Mutated Muter's Invasion" had also got Steam Cloud saves and Steam Achievements. Now here is a quick summary of what is up with this big update:
- More levels: The set of levels is now as originally planned. That's right, there are now more levels!
- More secrets: In the levels, there are now more places to hunt for that are not immediately obvious, from truly "secret" to more or less "secret". Such places can be quite rewarding to find and give you useful items, so have fun exploring!
- More mechanics: They will not let you get bored! Look for them especially in the new levels!
- More power-up and item types: For example, the "super crescendo"; some are in the secret places mentioned above.
- 4 more Steam Achievements, totaling 35: One of them is for finding a secret place that can be dangerous to discover.

Dear Un-Muters, Steam Achievements are finally implemented in "Mutated Muter's Invasion", so now playing the game is more rewarding than it was before! This update brings 31 achievements. Of course, the Community is still welcome to express achievement-related ideas, and will always be (even after Early Access)! This includes both ideas for other achievements that could potentially be added and feedback on the current ones. You may have noticed that few achievements have expert-mode counterparts, while others that, as it may seem, could do the same, do not. For example, since the "Ain't Afraid of Any Saws" achievement does have an expert-mode counterpart, it might seem reasonable that the "That Crazy Jump" achievement do too. However, doing the "crazy jump" in the first quarter-note level is actually equally difficult in all of the difficulty modes, whereas passing the "annoying saws section" in the expert mode is an exceptional task. This is why the developer believes that choosing which gameplay-related achievements should have expert-mode counterparts should be done mindfully. At the same time, however, considering how difficult the game becomes in general in the expert mode, getting to promote your musical note rank in the expert mode ought to be rewarded; this is why these ("Quarter Note", "Half Note", and "Whole Note") DO have expert-mode counterparts. Now here is the nice part: if you unlock an expert-mode achievement, you automatically win its regular (non-expert) counterpart! In addition, there are achievements for beating the game in the hard and the expert modes. The same principle applies: if you win the expert-mode achievement without having won the other corresponding achievement, the latter is also immediately yours! Please know that beating this game in the expert mode means you are really special! Have fun!

Been interested in "Mutated Muter's Invasion", but holding on with your purchase decision because of the game not rendering the Steam Overlay on GNU/Linux (as it's been saying in the Early Access answers on the store page)? Wait no longer! From now, whether you are using Windows or GNU/Linux, the Steam Overlay will work in "Mutated Muter's Invasion" for you, so you can enjoy the same Steam experience independently of the OS. As a reminder, the GNU/Linux version of "Mutated Muter's Invasion" will work on UPDATED Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (it is required that libstdc++6 be updated on 14.04 LTS) or a newer version of Ubuntu. Please also remember that the GNU/Linux version of the game is 64-bit. As another reminder, "Mutated Muter's Invasion" works with OpenGL 3.x or higher. If you have OpenGL 2.x, the game may render correctly, but this is not guaranteed.

Want to learn more about "Mutated Muter's Invasion" before making a purchase decision? Perhaps get your hands on a free trial version to experience at least part of what the game has to offer? Now you finally can! While the free demo version offers only a limited portion of the game, it still provides a good opportunity to see beforehand what it feels like to play "Mutated Muter's Invasion". The differences from the full version are:
- The demo version offers only some levels to play; however, it still includes both types of them (you will still have an opportunity to play a side-scroller shooting level from the game, not only platformer ones)
- The levels themselves are not exactly the same as in the full game, and this is the reason why there is no cloud-enabled progress saving between the demo and the full game (same for choosing the difficulty level); don't worry, however, the demo levels are still fun to play :)

Dear un-Muters, You can now choose to start a new game (thus overwriting progress data if any) or continue a previously saved game whenever you launch "Mutated Muter's Invasion" and get to the 'START' screen. Your progress is now saved whenever you complete a level. What's more, even if you choose 'NEW GAME', you will not lose previously saved progress (if any) until you complete the first level, so you always get some time to change your mind! Choosing 'CONTINUE' lets you resume from the level that follows the last completed level, with all your collected items intact.

- Mutated Muter's Invasion GNU/Linux Content [53.85 M]
Imagine a world without something that is everywhere in our everyday lives... Not only does music sound at concerts, parties, and other events, but it also follows you while you are watching TV or a video on the Internet, driving, or maybe even jogging or on your way somewhere with earbuds on. Although there do exist games that are based on music as a video game genre, there seems to be a lack of (if any at all) games that are NOT music-based genre-wise yet are wholly ABOUT music, especially saving music, as a subject. So, the idea of "Mutated Muter's Invasion" was born.
This game's idea is to provide a mostly 2D platforming action experience, often loosely described as "Mario-esque", while focusing on music as the main subject. Some side-scrolling shooter levels are also present. Fight the Mutated Muter's agents at different locations/levels stylized as music scores with some fancy mechanics and collect sharps, flats, naturals, clefs, and other power-ups and useful items in the fancy universe of "Mutated Muter's Invasion"! Shoot un-muting sonic bullets and super sonic bullets, avoid the muting weapons of the enemies, and more. And, of course, punish the overconfident Muter himself!
WARNING: the game is HARD! Choosing the "expert" mode right away is highly discouraged.
One (but not the only!) challenge is timings, which are as important here as if you actually were a performer learning a musical piece... Bad timings will cause you to fall down into the abyss or take hits. Other dangers await the player too, even where things may look nice and relaxing. It's not only the mobs who are nasty and sinister... Even some platforms will try to trick you!
Features include:
- fun gameplay mechanics
- original (for the most part) fun graphics and audio
- 4 difficulty modes: easy, medium, hard, and expert
- tries are unlimited—that's right, no annoying "lives" and "continues"!
- external controller support (tested with the Xbox 360 controller)*
- on the keyboard, control with both arrows and W-A-S-D is supported
*NOTE: please refer to the Early Access section for important information on controller support
